"Make The Magic" is an early In Silico-era Pendulum song that eventually developed into the 9,000 Miles we know today. This particular version is from Adam F's personal Master Room dubplate. On the flip side is a Pack of Wolves Demo x Nervous Mashup that Adam played @ Funktion LA on 2006-07-12 - its earliest confirmed date of its existance. www.future-music.net/forum/showthread.php?t=35103 It may however date back to at least 2006-06-22 (Adam F @ Innovation In The Sun) as that's the first known appearance of Adam's Blood Nuttah mashup, which is likely to have come from the same cut. Make The Magic appears on the In Silico progress sheet seen in the official In Silico booklet. This sheet is from around late 2006 and by this point the song was already being reworked and the acoustic guitar has been recorded. It's not known 100% if our version is listed on this sheet but it's possible that we have the "MAIN OLD FILE" version as it doesn't feature an acoustic guitar yet. 9,000 Miles would retain this song title for quite a while. It was still being referred to as Make The Magic by 2008 January, when it was noted on Rob's calendar that some work to it would be done on 2008-01-24 and 2008-01-25 (finalisation, most likely). i.imgur.com/lYJZQLP.jpg Due to the release of Junglesound Gold, Pendulum and Breakbeat Kaos (Adam F & DJ Fresh) had a major falling out in early 2006, with legal troubles to follow by mid to late 2006. Knowing that, it's puzzling why Adam F would make a cut of this song. It's possible that by the time this version came around, the conflict between the band and the label hadn't fully taken shape yet, which would make this one of the last demos Adam got his hands on from Pendulum. Anyway, all that is in the past now. It's real, it's here and we spent the past 3 months on making sure that we can bring you the best quality version possible. The audio you're listening to is straight from the acetate record - no remake magic involved. We hope you enjoy. imgur.com/a/BIy1Eog Brought to you by: Cherry linktr.ee/cherry412 Dagny linktr.ee/shredtune
So pleased to be able to preserve this song and solve the mystery after so many years of wondering exactly what it might sound like, but yet it opens even more questions. If songs from the album existed in this form as early as this demo was made, what do the other demos from the In Silico documents sound like and how closely do they resemble what they would become? I hope everyone enjoys this. It was an absolutely massive effort from me and Cherry to get this sounding as good as possible and presentable for the upload.
I think some Pendulum fans don't understand how lucky we are, to get all these unreleased demos and songs for free with the help of community effort is such a beautiful thing, it makes me feel so warm and fuzzy inside On the flipside for example, i am also a Rammstein fan, and the amount of people fighting, deceiving and elitism when it comes to rare stuff is absolutely disgusting Love you so much Cherry, Dagny and everybody else who helps to preserve and share amazing stuff like this :)
@@rb04x It's more a critique on how alot of the trading is done behind the scenes, their is alot of manchildren who horde out of pure greed and don't think about the wider community because "I have a rare thing and you can't have it, hahaha", and if you want anything rare, you just have to know a guy or pay alot of cash It's why im happy i am a huge Pendulum fan, i see alot more kindness in this community, makes me feel warm inside :)
The 9,000 Miles we got is great space out / visualizer majestic / driving track. This might be more lively and busier, but it's a perfect companion piece. It would be interesting to attempt a mash-up / remix of this combined with the released version. If 9,000 Miles is the soundtrack to you racing through neon-lit city streets with a decked out car, Make the Magic is where you hit the thrust while doing intergalactic exploration.
I am glad this got reworked into 9,000 Miles, because it's one of my favourite songs of all time, but I am glad this exists too. This has the same feeling as 9,000 Miles, but is still different. They really Made The Magic with this song.
Omggg. 9,000 Miles is my absolute favourite song of all time. (21k streams on spotify alone in 2023). I really love this demo! Thanks for preserving it!!!
Going through these i feel so insanely Nostalgic. So many memories comes flooding back, giving me a good type of pain in the Stomach. Man i'm so happy i grew up with Pendulum.
Learning about the history of my favorite music has to be one of my favorite things to do even if I don't really understand the implications. Your channel is an absolute treasure.
Thank you so much for this unusual experience. Although I like the release version of the album better, this one sounds interesting in its own way. It sounds like a more relaxed alternative version for live performances.
Listening to this makes me appreciate both the album version and this early one even more. It's cool to be able to hear how Pendulum songs has evolved during production.
Short answer: Because it's hard to rinse stuff like this on the radio or in clubs at the moment. Long answer: There is heaps of what you're looking for though, you just need to go and find it. A lot of ambient DnB and breakcore adjacent artists are doing some interesting storytelling, you could check out Sewerslvt and AgonyOST as a starting point.
gnawing on this, I am so happy this has been preserved because it's making me foam at the mouth in a good manner - especially since I adore 9,000 Miles. keep up the good work you utter legend!
Still can't get over how good this is. Those vocals from 1:10 on... I wonder if this could be one of the first songs Perry tracked with the band as well?
couldnt have done it without Dagny's involvement (in fact all of this was possible due to her hunting the plate down). so just a heads up - we run this channel together now as Cherry & Dagny!
Hi Greg! Thank you very much for all the valuable content you produce just for us Pendulum fans (and of course for yourself). I am very happy that I got to know your channel/channels (The Box) and I will be your loyal follower for a very long time, as I did last year, and of course the band Pendulum as well. Once again, thank you very much for all the content you upload to CZcams.
Hey, happy to hear you enjoy the works! Just a little heads up though I go by a new name now (Cherry) and co-run this channel with my friend Dagny. Most of the content on the channel is found/worked on by both of us and this one in particular was caught by Dagny so giving credit here it’s due :)!
@@notrobswire Should we expect that you and Dagny will hold a small live broadcast or simply publish a recording so that we can get to know you better? You, Greg, have already become so close to us))))) Especially now there is such a bright replenishment to the channel)))))))))
