Mando I admire that you walked away the bigger person. I feel so bad that you were treated that way! Lily’s grandma is correct don’t let someone else ruin your day. So happy the trip ended in a positive note.
So sorry you guys had that experience, but hats off to you Mando! 👏🏼 you totally handled that situation perfectly, allowing yourself to enjoy the moment and when you mentioned that as long as your mother in law and lilys grandma were having a great time really shows your character! 😇 you guys are great!

Our church goes on a trip every year, but the pastor is the tour guide so they don’t get scammed ❤️
I’ve never been, but f you watch ppl who go it’s first thing they warn you about..if I went I would def go with a church, so glad you do this .. I think I will stick watching the chosen it’s feels like your there
The scamming also happened to me in Egypt. Our tour guide only took us to "specific government shops" that were so expensive to find out he gets commission in those shops. I caught on quickly and just bought from local spots. I'd rather support local vendors and not government run shops.

Good for you Mando for not acting out on that man. I’m pretty sure he went off on you because he knew you and Lily were together and from your story, Lily fired back when he tried giving her a hard time and unfortunately took it out on you. Sad that such pure places have been turned into just another place to make money - people are greedy! Glad y’all are back home safe 🙏🏽
WA state native here and there’s nothing like flying in and seeing all the trees and greenery surrounding us. There legit is no place like home. Don’t matter where you are 💚

I also went to the Holy Land last year with my family, and it's such a culture shock. It was a blessing that I was able to go but ufff it's intense there y se siente el ambiente!
Idk how tour guides work there, but from what I’ve seen of friends that have gone they’ve gone with mission groups from a Church and it seems like they get to visit the same spots but with no rush and are able to enjoy it more.
I put myself in Mando’s shoes when he said “put yourself in my shoes” and my heart was racing the whole time. It’s unfortunate the treatment and discrimination that you went through and I’m sure many more people have gone through it too but don’t have the platform to share their experiences.

Same thing happened to us in Chichen-Itzá Yucatán our tour guide told us not to buy anything there because they hike the prices and to wait until we went to the small town that was also part of the tour where they actually make the crafts. We get to the small town and everything is twice or three times as expensive. Regretted getting a guide on that experience because we were rushed through the pyramid experience didn’t even get to see the whole area. You live and you learn.
It’s so sad how I could feel the frustration coming from you when this was supposed to be a trip to fill your heart with so much love.

Yea I've heard it's definitely a culture shock and like you said there a different religions who believe they are right and the tension comes from that. I've known ppl who have gone but with a church and have had amazing experiences. We will be going hopefully next yr , si Dios Los permite.

The tour guide probably owns that shop he took you to shop at, or gets a cut from the sales. How scary Lili you can't argue like you would in the USA 🇺🇲 The religious guy probably got mad that Mando did not tell Lili to be quiet so he made an example out of him by not letting him in.
Your grandma is right don’t let others ruin it for you. You guys doing that for her and taking her was the cutest thing to see. The enemy will use people to try to discourage others.

The tour guy totally screwed up. He should have advised them of the dress code. He just assumed that they were all religious but only the grandma was. To us it’s common sense, the location is a church, THE CHURCH. obviously there is a dress code. We wouldn’t go to a weeding with shorts. But again, non religious people have no idea how important the site is. People have literally killed each other for that location for years.

No tour guide needed and like any place the prices are outrageous and have to find the off beat market places. Cheaper in palastine for all your shopping needs. 4 religions control the holy burial place with their own rules. The orthodox christians are real strict and sometimes have to stand your ground and you are there to stand where Jesus was not see the priest.

I’ve been there 3 times and every time it’s a new experience. At first getting there it is a cultural shock. From the way they talk to everyday prayer. Gotta remember your in a different country they have a way of talking to people. Their voice sounds like rude and talking with authority and demanding. I got over that once I realize that’s the way they talk like if there were arguing. But yes being at a Holy place you would think to tone down the voice but they don’t listen , it’s their way or the highway. Also I don’t know if you encounter that some places you have men and woman going to the same restroom and men don’t respect and go in front of the women in line just so they can go to the restroom. I flipped cuz I was like dude I’m bout to pee on myself and your jumping in the line . But they don’t care women to them is I’m ahead I’m the leader you respect I go first etc. The tour guides are also like that if they are Muslim they don’t want you stopping at other religions shops it comes to them saying there stuff is fake or they are trash . They usually trash talk to each other. It’s so much things but y’all did right enjoy the moment and ignore the rest. Over all it’s fun and an experience.
Sounds like you guys got a scammer. So sorry you guys had to experience that discrimination but hats off to Mando for being the bigger person. He could’ve easily went off on the tour guide but I’m glad your grandma and lily’s mom got to experience the tomb. ❤

That’s such an unfortunate experience because like you said that should be the holiest and most peaceful place in the world regardless of your beliefs!! 😓☹️ And even if it’s Disneyland, nobody should yell or treat anyone like that!! And you guys should’ve fired that tour guide the minute he kept judging your mom for stopping so much. I’m sorry, your a tourist who traveled from far and paying him to educate and guide you guys!! This sounds about normal the woman he saw on the stairs is military they have to keep people out…so basically if you were Jewish you would be allowed they wouldn’t allow the Muslim people into there either they have a lot of segregation your grandma was totally right do not let people ruin your time with god this is your personal spiritual experience and almost once in a lifetime just remember the good stuff the history of Israel it’s self is interesting and a mess I hope one day to go too I’m going to definitely do as you’ve recommended with the whole guide situation ❤
That tour sounds normal, I’m sure the other groups were getting the same experience on other spots in the holy land. That’s how it was for us “no pictures” almost every where we went.

Thats awful to hear. Yes I agree it’s suppose to be one of the holiest places, but that goes to show you we as pple fall very short from the glory of God. Sadly some pple are are worse than others. They should definitely have someone working there with very much compassion for the visitors.
