Man I like theses videos so much, I have nobody to watch weightlifting competitions with and the official commentary is usually someone describing what is happening on the screen, having people having a conversation while watching the competition makes it so much more interesting and also less lonely
15:12 That's Manfred Nerlinger. He lost a (part of his pinky I believe) finger close to the Olympics when jerking from iron blocks with 270ish and the weight rolled towards him. They say the doctor could have reattached it but he declined as he didn't need it much and the competition was 8-9 weeks out lol. He still has his online shop in Germany and sells great leather straps Edit: It actually was more than one part of his left ring finger
Thanks for doing another one of these, great to see an olympics session. And there's definitely some of us who get the Fermoigh reference (only because you've mentioned it before)
I think he's never had a competition where he did what he expected lol. Like, in terms of achieving main goals, probably 2019 was the only competition he performed insanely well. Though he missed his first 2 snatch attempts, so idk. In terms of the weights he was expecting to lift, maybe 2018? Idk, it's always curious what could have been his best ever total if he didn't miss that much.
@@pateHNBTAYeah I think it was Weightlifting House that showed he has the lowest success rate of any world record holder or something like that. He's like a slightly more consistent Su Dajin, these guys just miss everything til they don't, and that one lift will often be the death of everyone else.
Fitz is right. Stratford used to be a big working class area, and the Olympics construction demolished loads of council houses (social housing in London terms) nearby. Some people were bought out whilst others were told to leave to another council unit, but where there's already a massive waiting list for social housing in the city, the Olympics made the problem significantly worse. Ironically the vacation of the local community made the people who left there poorer off, and in some ways, the area surrounding the stadium has become more violent in recent years cause things have gotten more expensive but none of the money returns to the few people who could stay.
You guys should look at the sports psychology for Motorsports. It’s not the most demanding S&C for the sport, but it demands a lot of precision. Rally racing is a very good example of the mental focus a driver needs.
18 minutes in, and you guys have barely even commented on the lifting or the athletes, and have been talking about shoes almost the entire time. Part of me finds this annoying, and the other part thinks it is hilariously good.
I'd agree, though the most reasonable time would be after you've attended. Both of those however are infinitely more understandable than powerlifters getting rings for... reasons (cough, Stefi Cohen, cough.)
Chigishev snatches 211 to beat rezazadeh in the snatch. Jabar Al Salem viktor scerbatihs danielyan is there. Some good stuff for sure. 2005 94kg is pretty cool as well not a lot of big names but cool lifting for sure
It’s sad that Olympic content is so heavily copyrighted. Could argue that it’s so culturally significant that it shouldn’t have copyright and anyone should be able to use it
altough crazy session we were robbed of 3 more guys that were top 10 back then Apti, Okulov and Markov, also guys can you make a special on Oleg Perepechenov and super successful womens team between 2008 and 2015 lifters like Olga Zubova, Svetlana Tsarukaeva, Oxana Slivenko, Nadezhda Evstyukhina and of course best female lifter ever Kashirina
30 minutes in, and now you're talking about ping pong. Normally, you guys are very on point with plenty of brief bits of humor and some irreverent commentary mixed with some very incisive technical analysis and my favorite part, the fashion ratings. But I'm still trying to decide if this particular episode is pure genius or if you are just trolling your entire audience. Ok, back to the video.
i would love to see a blind reaction of either the 73s or 89s at the world cup where you dont know whats going to happen. get a friend to say if either of them didnt live up to hype
The Leistungs are good shoes, and are unfairly maligned by a lot of lifters. I'd say they're definitely the last good lifting shoe Adidas made - but only if we're talking about the 16 BOA II, NOT the Rio Leistung with no laces. If the BOA goes on those, you're fucked. Too bad the red version of the 16 II BOA is basically unattainable - but they do exist.
That's interesting because I rarely drink and I've had a full beard since I was 14 and I'm in my early thirties and my beard line has climbed over my cheekbones and my hairline has increase maybe three follicles of length down my forehead as well as a lot more of an increase over the temples haha maybe you are on to something because the need for alcohol has gone down since water filtration is very accessible
7:10 to be fair the testing is much better nowadays so they cant use the same drugs as before, im sure if they could use anything and everything like back in the days they would all set world records easily
"The quality keeps going down". Does it though? We have Lasha lifting by far the most ever, and two or three others giving reasonable cracks at 220 snatches which no one else ever has. I don't think not training hard or well enough is the problem for the sport overall but the constant adjusting to changes due to all the corruption and doping and weight class changes. The past 8 years it seems most lifters have spent more time going up and down weight classes and competing every five minutes due to qualifying procedures than actually being in comfortably good shape.
Watching before the IOC drone strikes Sika
We've got some anti drone hawks out patrolling
RIP Oleksandr Pielieshenko :(, great weightlifter
28:37 rostami hitting us with that unparalleled rizz
Young stalin at it again!
Two 'Coaches reach to comp x' in one year. Fantastic
Crazy times! 🤣
The lads got into their element on the c&j, it’s almost like they’re looking over their shoulders for the ioc assassins on the snatch portion

85kg Tian had so much potential
What a guy!
I think tian did 240 or 245kg in training as an overweight 96kg so like.
My favourite series back again, love that youre still doing the long form content ❤
Glad you enjoy it!
Best surprise when opening youtube!
Have fun!
It would be cool if you guys reacted to one of the real golden age competitions - the 1987 superheavy worlds is my favourite of all time

I’m surprised we didn’t see any nosebleeds or any-handless table-raising from the Sika boys this session, especially with Gabriel present
No table flipping today 🤣
Thought I saw their desk rise an inch on that second attempt but no, just a trick from the eyes
Thanks for doing another one of these, great to see an olympics session. And there's definitely some of us who get the Fermoigh reference (only because you've mentioned it before)
Love that you guys are doing these videos! Great coaching cues!
Glad you like them!
It's a shame Tian didn't perform as he wanted to here.

Still crazy that he ended up hitting 217kg though!

@7:21 Varbanovs best is 215 in comp at 75. 222.5 in Training is correct. Just as impressive is Asen Zlatev with 225 in comp at 82.5 kg.
I love sikastan reacts
What a legendary session.! Three consecutive 217kg as 85kgs!

Feel the same sometimes, but I guess it's because we're just not that much into weightlifting shoes 😅
10 Days Later. We Are Here Sentry Camping Looking Out For Wada And The Strike Drones 👀.
Love these videos. Hope this one is around for a while
We should be okay!
To me, 5-rings tattoo is totally acceptable once you're _going_ to the olympics... nothing to do with how you place.
Fair perspective!
I'd agree, though the most reasonable time would be after you've attended. Both of those however are infinitely more understandable than powerlifters getting rings for... reasons (cough, Stefi Cohen, cough.)
What a sesh this was!
15 sets of two with 170 to make 173 makes no sense.
Please do more of these
Yall should do Houston 2015. But perhaps a lighter weigh class
i love these videos, so fun
Rio was ZKC bars and plates. I'm disappointed in you.
The 2005 super heavyweight worlds session is top quality stuff
We'll need a refresher on it!
Chigishev snatches 211 to beat rezazadeh in the snatch. Jabar Al Salem viktor scerbatihs danielyan is there. Some good stuff for sure. 2005 94kg is pretty cool as well not a lot of big names but cool lifting for sure
This makes my Easter so much 😭😭😭😭😭😭
Enjoy it!
Eoin was extra unhinged in this one
Ive got an example of a lifter with the olympic rings tattoo that hasnt been but i cant remember his name. Hes a chinese 73 whos not shi zhiyong
Love a good Sika Boys React
Thanks for watching!

i feel like i'm watching rugby on tv with my dad but instead of that it's weightlifting

2017 85kg world championship
Junction 14 best goddam roadside deli in Europe. All off to one side.
One of my fav competitions
A great one!
can a sprinter get the olympic rings tattoo if they are disqualified for a jump start in the first round?
Sika Strength never disappoints 🫶🔥🔥
React to 2012 85kg or 2008 85kg
Had a shit day yesterday….need this one thanks lads!
Enjoy!
Goated content
Thanks for watching!
21:38 imagine this lad bearing down on you on a moonlit night, youve no shot
in reference to this not being a great olympics, wasnt this the year rahimov from khazikstan finally broke the 77kg c&j wr?
Yeah but it three red lights though 🤣 (I'm joking).
2016 was ZKC
Awhhhhh thank you
13:13 he died in Ukraine war. RIP

Always hurts watching this session a little bit, because Gabriel didn't win gold 😅

Absolutely first
