Peter , what an interesting guest. Thanks for showing us different voices from Israeli society that we would not get to hear from otherwise. Left voices in Israel may be fewer in number in today’s climate but with people this smart and committed they have a lot to add.

We look from the outside as pro-Palestinian, non-Jewish, anti-Zionists snd can only look with a measure of awe at the courage of a Jewish Istaeli taking a stand against right wing extremeism. Our activism costs us little, whereas hers does. Her example also teaches us that nothing is simple in this conflict but the Palestinians are going to need all the help they can get to survive within the Occupied Territories and Gaza.

It is the rare person who can see truth and injustice when it contradicts the tribe they are born into . The subject of this interview is doing that in an extreme situation ; and acting on it which takes courage .
I would be interested in hearing your story of how you perceive an injustice in the world that makes you the enemy of your tribe , and the actions you are taking to rectify it .

Thank you Peter & Sapir for giving us the gift of hearing such a strong, wonderful, hopeful & blessedly surprising view from such an amazing human being.
Asd Sapir, personally & from this ol' Irish American woman I whole heartedly send to you my prayers along with the sentiment expressed in every word of the classic Irish tome which starts; "may the road rise to greet you, may the wind be ever at your back..."
    Godspeed to you both.
Btw- wanted to know if there has been any theory's about a direct correlation between the increasing prevalence of this (mask off) outwardly, openly racist attitude held & expressed twords tbe Palestinians throughout Israeli society which may link to the Israeli govt's ever increasing number WB's apartheid walls constructed because with these walls comes a drop in folks experiencing any 'reality' based interaction with them which creates a vacuum that the Israeli govt exploits by filling that hole with self serving & terrifying propaganda of myths about who, what, why, etc re; The Palestinians are all terrorists, etc..?

Thank you Sapir. You remind me of the first Israelis I met nearly thirty years ago. A big difference is that they had left Israel, I assume for good. I wish I had stayed in contact with them and continued to benefit from their guidance, which nonetheless shaped my opinion on Israel and Palestine.

Peter, I'm not going to lie. Before this ongoing ramping of the genocide I was much more critical of your views. I considered you too much liberal zionist with a good heart. But I think the level of pain and agony that we are witnessing made you move to a more critical (non-zionist?) position, and I learned to listen to to more people that have different opinions than mine but still have indeed a good heart. I don't want to say that we are all now more "centrists" because political spectrum definitions are a joke. But we are finding more our singular humanity that does not fit into a feel good tv commecial or hollywood movies. The parading has shifted for good.

Roberto Mangabeira Unger at Harvard has lectured on the global political economy in terms of universal vs. local heresies. The way the American-Israeli order works is through liberalism understood as a universal heresy. To this very day, the basis of the world order remains the French revolution. Without that moral legitimacy as the "grande nacion" defending the liberal revolution, America is just another Anglo republic. Bonapartism was quite different from Washingtonianism, but it's Bonapartism that gives DC its global legitimacy and power. George Washington would be horrified at what DC has become, but Napoleon Bonaparte would applaud it heartily. DC is now a semi-fascist regime with the typical Bonapartist mix, military superiority combined with vested national interests. Anyway, the point here is that liberalism is a universal heresy, its claims encompass the whole world. Communism serves the same role for China. What I would like to ask the speaker is whether her Left politics today is grounded in any universal principle or value, that can become a model of power across the globe. Does identity politics has limits, in other words, without some underlying universalism that is not allied with liberalism.

Under the global colonial cult lore of sovereignty there are three main grades of servant. Honorable Leader, Sir, and Mister. All three are titles of chattel. That is, natural persons as property of a fictional sovereign. The trinity is Master, Servant, and their union as a single corporate fiction.
Monopoly is the manifestation of sovereignty. Is the Israeli Shekel legal tender in Gaza and the WestBank? Are all diplomats paid with Dollars? Do almost all people accept being addressed as the title of a so-called sovereign state banker?
Publish, _ARAB and JEW # CHATTEL,_ on so-called sovereign monopoly money. Remember that monopoly is slavery.

Sapir you need to be proud of your ethnicity, you are Iraqi and Iraq has a rich history, very ancient and amazing civilization, Israel state is a 20th century creation, a western colonial project, British Israeli Historian Ilan Pappe wrote many books about it.
Saying that anybody who is a Jew is from the Levant is complete nonsense because many converted to Judaism through centuries and many were Jews and then converted to Christianity or Islam. So do not be apologetic about your ethnicity be proud of who you are.
