sry for late and maybe irrelevant answer but country music has a long long tradition in our country, it comes together with tramping, quite popular here since 19th century and is also inspired by Vinnetou and other May's works. It also served to provoke the socialist regime being imperialist music. Actually most of the most known and loved country and bluegrass songs have their Czech equivalent albeit overt or covert (in terms of lyrics). It was only in I think 2002 that taking and remaking the songs became illegal and I don't think Czech country music has ever recovered from that to this day. Most people like and play the old songs plus some that are original Czech ones (and we do have plenty good ones) on festivals and pubs. Also the "hillbilly" factor is heavily reduced here, I'd even say almost non-existent. However, it dabbles with confederacy without really knowing what it means, just the flag is a symbol of American tradition(al country music).
