Hudson Electronics Broadcast Dual Footswitch (demo) - from Boost to Fuzz storm
VloĆŸit
- Äas pĆidĂĄn 15. 08. 2024
- As stated by Hudson Electronics, the Broadcast dual footswitch is a: "transformer coupled, discrete Class-A germanium pre-amplifier based on the classic broadcast consoles of the 1960s". In other words, it is a preamp that gives a creamy and transparent tone to your guitar. The fantastic thing about Broadcast is its range. From a transparent boost to overdrive to fuzz, the Broadcast will always be flawless. The dual footswitch version allows you to have two gain stages under your foot. Not bad, right?

Thx for watching!
So guys, do you have a Broadcast, or are you planning to buy one?
Mine should be due to ship any day now. Can't wait
at what volts (9v, 12v, 15, 18v, 24v) were you "feeding" the Broadcast it sounded so great....
greetings from Portugal
@@nathanjmartin19 Have fun with it!
@@u2acrobata I was feeding 9v. Thx a lot man!
Mines been on back order for months. Can't wait for Peach Guitars to get it in and send it to me.
This has to be one of the greatest guitar channels on CZcams. Excellent demo, excited to see what you guys have in store!!
Bought one 3 months ago. Finally played it yesterday and. . . .IT ABSOLUTELY KILLS!!!đź
This one's been on my radar for while. Great video by the way love the presentation.
Thx a lot man! If you have a chance get one, you won't regret.
I just got it. Totally made my home rig sound amazing, full, and warm.
It's a great pedal. We're glad you like it.
is it good for blues tones?
Thanks God I got this awesome pedal.. I love it.. There are so many ways to set it in the chain. I have mine after the compressor, before the ODS.
Another way is at the end of the chain after the reverb, but there's this crazy set up, a technician told me about it, you can send your whole signal to the return of the amp, using the broadcast as a real pre amp section.
Have to try that one, thx for the tip.
I just got this and haven't tried that way yet.I do it alot with other preamps and it is great I agree. Can't wait to try this one like that.
Still the best demo out there of this pedal đ
Thx a lot man!
Got one of these after watching this video and I must say its absolutely worth it. There are so many ways to use it, but my favorite probably is setting the gain on your amp close to breakup and then almost using it as a kind of boost, but it still adds a lot of character of its own. Its gotten to the point where its my always on pedal and theres just something "missing" when its not on... I usually use the second mode for a nice fuzzy lead tone, but it also makes for a nice warm rhythm tone similar to all the great Stoner/Doom-Rock bands.
Great use of the Broadcast. What amp do you have?
@@WeAsACompany I'm currently running an Orange Dark Terror, I love the crunch and highgain tones it has. It also has a buffered fx loop so it takes pedals great.
@@leonzewe Great rig!
LOVE your videos! not only are their just cool pedals, but the channel is pleasant to watch
Unbelievable pedal! Iâve recently bought the 24v mint turquoise version and it blows away every other pedal Iâve ever had (and Iâve had a lot!).
This pedal changed my life!
just bought one and itâs awesome! thanks a lot for the great demonstration!
So glad I found this channel!!
Thx man! So happy you found us.
You're my first subscription! You're rockin' it. Keep up the great work. I got one of these because of this demo, and it's amazing even with my diminished skill set.
Thx a lot for your comment, it means the world to us.
This is the only pedal, and I own a lot of boutique, that I always immediately regret turning off, then stomp back on. Itâs as much the feel as it is the sound.
The feel is a great reason to keep a pedal on! ;)
I sold mine and here I am regretting it and about to get another one.
excellent demo
Thx a lot!
Great demo. Beautiful production. đ
Congrats on the demo. This is indeed a demo and shows lots of options (just as a demo was supposed to be). Missed only humbuckers approach, but it was really good. The pedal is awesome BTW... I have it and love it.
Well played Hudson,
well played đđđđ§đ§đ§
đŹđ„đïžđ»đ”đ§Čđ
I am trying to convince myself that it sounds like a valve amp. I really tried and it doesn't. However, there are pedals that you can throw on a solid state amp that would give it way more tubey kind sound: Fulltone OCD (EHX glove at half the price is as good if no better), BB preamp (also check EHX Cryon at half the price), EHX Hot Tubes, Strymon Riverside, JHS Angry Charly, Kuro T120, Benson Preamp, Hudson Electr Broadcast and these are just a few that I could think of.
This demo is gonna sell a ton of these things..
We're happy to spread the word. Thx a lot for your comment.
Very nicely done!
There's one band that based their whole sound around this pedal. I talked to the two guitarists on a show & they both had this on their boards.
And you can really hear it & definitely tell it on their records.
The band is called "The Devil & the almighty Blues"
Thx for the info, really interesting. In which record do they use the Broadcast extensively?
@@WeAsACompany I think all three. But I would say the debut probably the most. They just added a few other pedals later, yet not many. Overall both used just 8 pedals per board live. I remember seeing a Plasma Pedal on one, a Strymon Flint on both, tuner on both (duh...) the rest I don't remember, but they said if I wanna sound like them aka. get their tone, the Broadcast is the way to go!
Amps, guitars:
They both had 5 guitars with them, all Gibson & Fender Custom Shop.
Es-335's, Tele's & Strats mainly.
Together with some nice vintage Marshall Plexis going in some worn down Hiwatt 4x12s.
PS:
The bass tone was amazing live.
He used a vintage 1973 Fender P-Bass, just with a Tuner, a T-Rex Mudhoney Mk2, going into an Orange Ad200 into a 60s Sunn 2x15"
@@ritualsofthedarksun Thx very much, that's very interesting. They have a great sound.
@@WeAsACompany No biggie! I love how they use like super high end gear, to get a Lofi, but still pleasing sound. One day I'll order a Broadcast Dual. I'm from Germany & I have an interest in the Broadcast but also in the Ceriatone Centura. And both are available from Andertons, so to save some shipping costs & taxes it's probably the best to order both at once.
2 drives for around 600âŹ+
For a 22 year old, like me that's some serious money to spend at once!
But it's achievable though.
Yo, thx for the quick reply & little chat & I hope you found a new band!
I always love to share music with others!
Wow listening to them now and that guitar tone is killer!
wonderful pedal!
Great demo! I have it but haven't been using it to its potential like you showed. TX
I remember that riff at 1.40! You had another channel before this, am I right? I'm glad that your are still doing videos! Good Job man!
Thx for your comment. This is our first channel, though.
Dude, what riff at 1:40? If that's a riff you've got a lot of listening ahead of you.
AMAZING. Thanks
Thx for your comment!
nice demo
That background is really funny!
WOW !!!! Great Vid ....
where would you place this kind of pedal on a pedalboard chain with other Overdrives ???
I've heard that the Broadcast is a Pre-Amp / Overdrive pedal / Fuzzy pedal ??!!!!!!! so in front of the OD, at the end ?!!! lol
what would it be your advice ??!!! ;)
Thank you so much to share this kind of vids ... they are really helpful and so good to watch!
Greetings from Portugal
Hi man, thx a lot for your comment. I think it's really matter of preferences. Mi personal choice is to place the Broadcast as you said, before OD and then fuzz. I use the Broadcast as a clean, creamy boost and then I boost OD and fuzz with it. If you have a buffered OD (Boss style) and a germanium vintage-style fuzz I would suggest to do Broadcast - fuzz - OD.
These sounds work for my sound. I wish it had presets. So few knobs, make it analog with digi control via 5 pin MIDI. I cant afford 5 of them. But dangit! That sounds really great.
great pedal aaaaaaaand I'm glad they got those bastards just outside the cave! If they didn't get them I thought the guys in the suits would!
nice riff at the start!
Thx a lot man!
I have owned this pedal for three years. Each time I forget what it sounds like and add it to my board, I reach the same conclusion. I cannot get a single sound out of it and what I do get out of it is something like a broken crackle. It never fits into anything I play and has been off my board for far longer than it has been on it.
I noticed you suggested placement with buffered effects, something I've long gone back and forth on with Germanium based circuits.
It's true that initially it seems to gut some harmonic content, but in using designated buffers( high quality JHS & Concord), I've found that you can actually achieve some alternative, unique, harmonically dynamic ,sounds by moving the buffers around.I've heard a lot of opinions on the matter, to extremes in both directions, - " trash" with, or without, - etc , etc,- the idea being that you can tonally compensate by boosting the signal, along with mids and lows.Have you tried experimenting with this to any degree? Always interested in additional input.
Thanks , & Peace.
Based on our experience, the Broadcast works very well with anything in front of it. If we can choose we prefer to have modulations, octaves, and slapback delay before any dirt or boost pedal.
Where were your internal trim pots set if you can share/remember. High seems maxed low a little rolled off?
The first trim pot is around 11am, the second is around 2pm. We tend to keep low the low gain, that way we can use it as a boost or light breakup. If you max the low gain the high gain will have a smaller effect on the tone.
Glad you were wearing gloves for this demo
So it makes it sound like a old solid state amps from the late 80s
That's what I thought ..cruddy little mid 80s practice amps...one born every minute I guess..demo was put together well..
It's based on a preamp. So yeah it makes it sound like you're plugging into an overdriven console pre.
Loop is fuck yeah!
I hear a lot of staticky, crackly. Is that part of the deal?
Could you please define 'Acid Ballad' for me ?!
đ€Ł
Is this channel related to another somebody who also demos pedals in blue gloves?
Not sure, do you mean a specific channel?
We As A Company yes I was referring to Devon Blue Whitaker
@@lcglazer Didn't know about that channel, checking right now. Seems very cool.
We As A Company youâre welcome!
The Loop on this is sooo annoying .I got as far as 3:50 and couldn't take anymore .WTF
Why are you adjusting the Low Gain dial when you put it in High Gain mode?
I love the sounds you've recorded here but I'm confused by what I'm seeing...
Just to show the whole gain range you can have in both modes. You could use the first stage just as a clean boost and the second as an overdriven but not fuzzy tone.
Both low and high gain are controlled by the gain trim knob. The 3rd and 4th knobs are output volume for each channel, which he doesnât touch.
Are the channels independent? Or does the low gain (red) need to be engaged to use the high gain (green) ?
@@PeteCorneliusMusic They are not. The left side switch is to engage the preamp pedal. The right hand switch is to engage an additional boost INTO the preamp. The boost has no function without the preamp being already engaged.
Anyone tried this with a vox? Looking for a good 2in1 gain pedal for my ac10
Never tried with a Vox, sorry. Check this out czcams.com/video/Ggi4Nkwmkf4/video.html. They do play a Broadcast into a Vox at 26 min. and 15 seconds.
Did you just do a pedal demo without actually touching 2 of the 4 knobs?
Those 2 knobs are output volume for each channel. Turn them up, they get louder, turn them down they get quieter. Not rocket science.
Great demo, but nothing about the pedal appeals to me.
THANK YOU FOR PLAYING THE GUITAR THROUGH IT AND NOT DOING WHITE GUY BLUES NOODLES THE WHOLE FUCKEN TIME.
ĐąĐŸĐżĐŸŃĐœĐŸĐ” ĐŽĐ”ĐŒĐŸ
Terribly annoying guitar playing.
Your best tone was at 4:23. Come on get over yourselves, is that the best you can do? Really, I have the Broadcast in front straight after my volume pedal into stereo wet dry wet with Vox AC15C1'S and the broadcast preamp never gets turned off with the most amazing tones. The filter gets the most use and I have plenty of dirt but clean dirt dude! Now I know why he's wearing a surgical glove, that was a very poor demo, sorry.
So youâre just not gonna touch the other two knobs at all....great demo genius
They are volume controls. You turn them up and it gets louder. You turn them down and it gets quieter.
I'm sorry if that was too technical. Have a great day.
Iâm glad someone asked so I could learn they are volumes đ
Sounds terrible
matter of taste!
Personally, I'm always excited to see it on someone's board- it suggests they have similar taste in music .
To be honest
There are times I like it
Then there are other times it goes all spluttery without any note definition and that is not my taste
That' splattery sound is what's called fuzz, it was kind of big in the 1960,s and later in shoegaze.
