If you wanted to see a historical building you should watch Batavia in north Jakarta (The Jakarta's Old Town) There's so many Dutch style building since Batavia (Jakarta old name) was capital of Dutch East Indies in 18th century
Jakarta also has a historical district known as "Kota Tua" where many old / colonial buildings as well as old chinese architecture style shohouses still remain preserved.. There are also many old buildings and houses from 16th / 17th century still exist around the city, ranging from private houses to public buildings, one of them is the biggest Cathedral in southeast asia which located just side by side with the biggest mosque in S.E.Asia. The large roundabout with a 50m tall "Welcome Statue" at the center was built in 1959, the stadium built in 1960 (once noted as the biggest olympic stadium in the world), the Monas (national monument) stands in the center of Merdeka square (2nd biggest city square in the world) was built in 1961.
Unlike British, Dutch didn't built impressive structures in Jakarta. Even their main headquarters in Fatahillah Square in old town just a relatively small two-story building, compared to those in Delhi
yeah I've seen pictures of that central square, wich unfortunatelywasn't shown here, I've also heard that no where near as much colonial buildings were built in Indonesia as in India and the few that were built often were with wood materials, so didn't last forever
