for the people saying no laser obviously hadn't laid many pipe. did you not see the laser grade rod he had that was beeping telling him whether he was low or high? that takes care of the fall of the pipe. as far as keeping the pipe in line? well on pipe that small you can eyeball that. not a big pipelaying job there to go busting out all of the equipment needed. the trench isn't that deep. smh. as far as the rigging of the pipe. like I just stated the trench isn't that deep. didn't have to go far with the pipe.
Hes using a rotating laser than is set to grade instead of putting a pipe laser inside the pipe and checking the beam, the way hes done it is fine just a bit of a pain adjusting the base he and there with the constant beeping all day get yourself a green beam laser

MrAttractiveNuisance that’s what I was thinking I was like what the hell is he doing and then I realize they’re just using the rotator not the pipe laser 🤔
Why are you hanging that pipe off the tooth? You would get ran off a job for that. No pipe laser, 100+ feet of trench open and no wheel loader. Sorry guys, you don't look very professional to me.

Josh Stanley I’ve been laying pipe for years. Never use a pipe laser. It’s completelY unnecessary if you have the grading laser and actually no what your doing. People who have to use a pipe laser are idiots, due to the fact that if you grade your trench properly with the grading laser, the pipe will always be where is should be. (Some people choose to check the end of the bell with the laser after each stick, just to ensure you are where you need to be) So maybe try to not talk so much shot when clearly your the fucking rookie here green horn. Hahah, pipe laser? What a joke.
You guys are arguing the same point grade laser and a pipe laser do the exact same thing i personally prefer the pipe laser and a target because it is faster. Other crews do things differently some people get the pipe home with just a bar and a mound of dirt others use the hoe.
For all the guys crying about the pipe laser, please shut the fuck up. I’ve been laying pipe for years and NEVER use one. It’s completely useless if you have a grading laser. That laser will grade the trench, so please tell me, when the rock is graded precisely, why would you need a pipe laser? The one thing I didn’t like was using the bucket to stab the pipe in. If you need to slide it in a bit more, scoot that choker back just a tad, and have your operator pull it in gently. It fixes your joint, doesn’t drag rock, and doesn’t take the chance of breaking the bell. That tongue and groove pipe breaks easily on 18”
I Hate Doing Storm Drains especially Breaking out the Old Box . Good shit y’all are slow but seem uniformed our crew is savage we’re all about to kill each other .
+Robert Connor obviously you don't have that experience in laying pipe. groundwork could mean anything bud. as in landscaper or something, so your 25 years in ground work means nothing when talking about utility systems.
Eduar Portillo instead of being a typical safety douchebag, who whines about safety, why don’t you enlighten us on what was unsafe, because I didn’t see a fucking thing. they had a grading laser, a choker, a top man, a man in the trench. The trench wasn’t anywhere deep enough to require shoring or worry about cave ins, and the operator swung the pipe in safely, at no time was the pipe above the pipe layers head. It’s irritating seeing all these stupid comments like yours when this operation is clearly safe and being done well. (With the exception of them pushing the pipe with the bucket to stab it in, which is a good way to break the bell, however it’s not a safety concern) Now, I’ll venture a guess here, when you say they don’t have the right tools for the job, you’re referring to a pipe laser. If this is the case, your clearly a rookie, and don’t know throw pipe in the ground quickly, and not relying on a stupid pipe laser. Why the fuck does everyone have a boner for a pipe laser these days? If you grade your trench properly, then there is absolutely no need for a pipe laser. Even when the ground is shitty material, a good crew knows how to over ex it, get enough rock in there to do it right.
Thanks for showing everyone the wrong way to lay storm drain

Dr. CDR R lol wait till that little strap has a tear. Where tf is the cable
What is the thing on the grade rod our laser sits in a box and shoots down the pipe but our grade rod doesn’t have anything on it

Where's the Jacks for shoring where's the ladder there's been more people hurt in a shallow trench then there is one deep Trench
Never hook the strap to the teeth of the bucket always use a shackle and the back of the bucket or take the bucket off

I agree with taking the bucket while having to crane anything.
