After 3 shields I settled on Freedom Shield made in the US, optically perfect, and thicker than anything I’ve seen. Imported it into Australia, great service department that gave me advice before deciding on size.
As you said variables. I ride a 15 RGS with the factory shield. I also wear a FF Shoei. I need full air to my helmet without head buffet and I get that on the stock shield being six foot tall. Air noise tolerable with a good helmet and ear plugs 70 mph plus. I have aftermarket shields 12-16 inches that collect dust. It’s a trade off for cooler weather. The best shield on a motorcycle is no shield. Unfortunately the helmet-less crowd needs to hide behind an a barn door to try and see while they’re driving or trying to keep a stogie lit 😂
I like mine taller than me. No different than a car windshield. I like looking through it. I’ve tried EVERY configuration you can think of and if it’s not above me looking through it I get severe buffeting
One way you can buy yourself. You gave me the idea with the cardboard. Cut yourself a few strips about inch wide the lengths of the windshield your looking at. Use painters tape and put Lil tape to hold it on that screw. Kinda give you a idea the height you need. I'm going with 8.5inch Memphis shades. Thanks for the help

I’ve never had clockwerks but I do use long ride shields (LRS) which is similar.
