- Corey Taylor is a G-D heavy metal icon, and now he’s taking his talents to a spooky episode of Oral Sessions. The frontman for such bands as Slipknot, Stone Sour and CMFT goes deep on his horror movie obsession, from the slasher flick that inspired Slipknot to the 2018 horror film that even he can’t watch again. Plus, he reveals his children’s hidden musical talents and tells one very intense story about a gentlemen’s club turned concert venue that may or may not have been haunted.

Corey not swearing on a podcast that allows swearing has caught me off guard 🤣
i know right i was so surprise he wasnt swearing. but at the same time its kinda cool he didnt swear and was just having a good time.
Unrelated but I try not to swear around my friends wives.
@@shanestephens4728 Corey usually doesn't care 🤣
@@matthewjuarbe5826 having seen Slipknot 5 or 6 times, I'm used to hearing fuck every 5 seconds 🤣
Renee is everyone's kryptonite it seems I don't know anyone who dislikes her and they always on good behaviour lol
Corey is one of the guys in music that gets it. Keep it all real , treat people right , and stay epic .
Yeah Honestly I'm a Christian but I love how Cory has always been very open to the fact that he's an atheist and yet will still openly tour with bands that are Christian metal bands/hardcore.
he's such genuinely accepting individual..in music..in friendship. fandom..such great energy..always been a fan. always will be..good stuff..and loved his 2nd book too..
Just a legit good dude
I agree, Jamie.
Corey is intense on vocals but he seems like a good dude on interviews.
Renee did a good job with this interview.
The only thing is that, with him being a grouchy old fart like he states himself
He’s pretty critical of other music sometimes
Which makes sense after 20+ years being a legend in your genre
But it rubs little pussies such as MGK the wrong way
The most amazing thing done by a celebrity was done by Corey. He actually filmed a therapy session in which he admits to the traumas in his life. No other celebrity would dare share their inner most darkness. He did to show the world that therapy is ok. It’s ok not to be ok. He is helping lift the stigma of mental illness and trauma.
I wonder if the trauma from Coreys past AND the dark death and energy from Slipknot tend to attract spiritual energy? Possibly positive AND negative? They say you manifest spirits with your own doing. And Corey could just be one of those people that magnetize those phenomena
It was literally a show where they got celebrities.. predominantly musical artists..
Have you ever heard of the documentary “Some kind of monster” or Katy Perry’s livestream of a therapy session when she was promoting “witness?”
@@Bonz-vc8zd no such thing as spiritual energy. It’s a placebo effect.
Lots of celebrities have done this….
When Corey said that Slipknot was ECW made me respect the band even more lol
facts
whats EWC
@@iletaMarchita Same... no idea what ECW is lol
ECW is Extreme Championship Wrestling. A former wrestling promotion ran by Paul Heyman that was renowned for its hardcore/death matches.
notice the key word - 'was' :/
This podcast was so great. Felt like Renee's questions peeled back a layer of CMFT that no one knew but is so awesome.
I was shocked in the most positive way when I saw you had Corey Taylor on. He’s a very interesting relatable dude. Very cool
I just cant wait to see them live! Its awesome you got CMFT on the show!
Everytime I see Corey on a podcast or interview it gets me hyped. This was another banger and cant wait till part 30+. Somehow would love a podcast with you two in a haunted house.
This was hands down your best guest.you guys should do more of these.
Thank You for doing this episode, such a tremendous listen
What a great interview. Killing the game with guest variety and topics.
Ready for this. Good going Renee 👏 👌
Favorite episode yet! Quickly becoming my favorite podcast.
Holy shit, CMFT 😮! This is quickly becoming one of the best shows on CZcams 🤘💪🔥
Best interview I’ve seen with Corey in a while. Super casual and honestly, I’m proud to be a fan. I do want to make note that I recently saw Slipknot on the Knotfest Roadshow in Milwaukee and originally I was informed that there would be a “health check.” So I brought my vaccination card and my son had his mask and nobody was checked for vaccine card or a negative Covid test. Now I know that’s not on Slipknot and I’m sure each city is different. For anyone planning on going to a show on this run, just a heads up there.
This was such a great surprise to wake up to this morning!!!! Great conversation
I don't know how but I'm glad you did seriously one of the best podcast video deals on CZcams
My mom raised me on horror movies and I share that love with my two kids. My mom passed away in 2009 and she would be so happy that I passed on the tradition of scaring the shit out of my kids LOL. My daughter turned 6 on Friday so we saw Halloween Kills for her birthday! When i saw Corey was going to be on here, I actually screamed LOL. Keep killing it, Renee!
One of the best Corey interviews I've ever listened to! 🙏🏽
Interviewed Corey for university radio YEARS ago (at least 15) he left a lasting impression, such a good guy.
He's the man that saved me a guy with HFA (High Functioning Autism) from taking my own life. That's how much I respect Corey Taylor and his two bands Stone Sour and Slipknot. Been dealing with pain even worse but I'll always remember what he told me because he lifted me up big time.
Did he talk you down from a roof or something?
@@fredfreeman2515 no I tried hiding and stabbing myself and luckly he was the only guy that found me and stopped it. Then I broke down crying because he was still one of my greatest idols ever and held me saying "it'll be alright" he's the man he has a brighter side and he delt with major depression and had thoughts of ending his life a long time ago when he was homeless. We talked about music and let me tell you he was the best guy to ever chat with we even talked for an hour and I felt better and greatly calm.
I love how wide a variety of topics Corey has to talk about at the drop of a hat, and i love watching interviews from people who can both lead and follow that, and you very much are able to not only keep up with, but press for various topics from a variety of people. Absolutely fantastic interview :)
OmfC! So excited for this. The greatest interviewer with CMFT.
Greatest interviewer with the biggest hypocrite! Propaganda Covid Corey!
@@wrestlingwithart Quiet.
@@wrestlingwithart cry about it, sheep
Great interview! I Cant believe I just realized how similar Cm Punk and Corey Taylor are, been a fan of them for a long time
Just saw Slipknot in Charlotte NC a couple of weeks ago and they were fabulous!!! Coreys voice is amazing. Not once did it crack! He was screaming for hours and not once did I hear a single flaw. It was the best live vocals I’ve ever heard.
Omg I was there too!!!!!!!! PNC Pavillion was great and Slipknot absolutely destroyed! I'm glad it was pretty chilly outside too lolol.
I was @ the Knotfest Charlotte, NC show Oct. 17th with my 9 year old son, it was his first concert. It was the best show! I have been a fan since the 1st album, I was like 13 and heard wait and bleed and fell in love with the band. Unfortunately, something always happened and I never made it to previous shows. Finally getting to see Slipknot after all these years, def bucket list ✅. A big thank you to Corey for having such amazing stage presence. His energy live was unlike anything I've ever experienced and I'm still pumped about it. Seeing my son headbanging and jumping up and down and throwing up horns it was the best thing ever. 🤘🤘
Corey's a huge fan of wrestling (as we know when he slapped the piss out of corbin back when corbin was in nxt) so it was only a time before he got on here. So fucking dope you got him on.
had no idea he was into wrestling until now.
I saw Slipknot in Virginia last week and he dropped “kayfabe” while speaking on stage (albeit, incorrectly-he should have said “shoot,” but whatever).
Well he didn't slap Corbin he punched him in the jaw.
Awesome podcast Renee YOU ARE KILLING IT the bar has now been set
Man, Corey Taylor is a really good interview!
Good job, Renee! You know how to pick em! 👌
Love your interview style as well. So casual and laidback. You do a good job of getting people out of their shell and just letting them talk and you can tell they trust you.
Damnit Renée. Got me locked in on wrestling, and now you get Corey F'n Taylor. I love this so much
Corey is the best! I am constantly playing his music. This was a great interview! Especially loved the ghost talk. My wife and I want to do a ghost tour. We live about an hour from Gettysburg, which offers a bunch of them. :)
Amazing episode, love a good haunting! I live in the UK and for a while I lived in an old victorian doctors surgery, the upstairs was where the mortician worked and where they'd put the bath on top of the mortician's bin (listed building so you can remove that kind of feature) all sorts of creepy weird shit happened in that place
Awesome interview. Corey seems like a real cool guy.
Omg!!!!! I have listened to Corey since I was a kid... slipknot...stone sour...etc. I would love to see them live!!! Love Corey!!
Absolutely love Corey. I have 3 Slipknot tattoos as well, loved this interview
I've had the privilege of seeing corey live several times. Both in slipknot, and in stone sour. Boy do he and the bands put on a good show. When they play, everything else becomes second nature. All worries dissappear 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I've only been able to see him with Stone Sour but yeah, kick-ass show
Knot twice, stone sour on their very first tour for me. Both bands are awesome live.
Just saw Slipknot for the 3rd time in Charlotte, saw CMFT in May, and saw Stone Sour in 2013. Corey is INCREDIBLE live and is getting better with time!
That was a good interview with Corey I'm so used to seeing Corey with his mask on I like Slipknot
Renee talking to Slipknot's and Stone Sour's Corey Taylor, one of my favourite singers?
Hell yeah maaan!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
What a pleasant surprise 😆😆😆
Edit: As I expected that combination of people can only produce an awesome podcast 👏👏👏👏
I loved every second of it. Corey is super fun and Renee is adorable in every aspect.
I hope there is a 2nd round.
Wow what a great interview.. 1 hour with Corey Taylor, I could tell he was enjoying the interview, as did I. Such a great artist and man, gone thru so much with success. I have so much respect for Corey and all the band members of Slipknot that worked together thru thick and thin to have the respect of fans and then some 🤘🙂
Woah Woah Woah Woah woah woah
woah woah woah woah woah woah woah.........and more woahs!!
I was wasn't expecting an awesome Interview like this!!!
Renee you spoiled us!!
he kills it on "In Search of Darkness" hope ya on the upcoming one bro!
I just saw Slipknot @ Knotfest Tuesday in Tampa! They killed it!! 🤘🏿🤘🏿
The spiritual stuff about closing yourself off to that vibe is totally relatable to me. Once I started having children I closed off that energy to keep any possibility of any energy being around my children.
I work for a festival so I know where Corey is in terms of testing. It was the same for us! We had to test everyday, if any staff tested positive that person wasn't working this festival! I was lucky I had tested negative Everytime I was on shift. Plus I am vaccinated as well so that helped
i remember when i saw my first slipknot concert (along with volbeat) i was so excited, i remember myself screaming on the top of my lungs, a lot of shit has happened that day but i’ll never forget it
If Corey wasn't a music icon he would make a great wrestler. I can see him doing great promos and he could be heel or face.
True, and very well said my friend.
Stand up....the man should do stand up
He’s not an icon.
Heel Corey would be the best thing in the entire world!
@@fredfreeman2515 He is
I didn't get on with Slipknot at first. I kinda lumped them in with other nu metal bands. Then I read an interview of Corey's in Rolling Stone magazine ages ago. He started talking about all these bands he just loves that I love too. In particular what he said about Pantera. Solid dude.
Amazing interview Renee 👏❤️
When I was 18 went to ozzfest and I saw a sign and camcorder that said, show your tlts to slipknot, the best day of my life. Worth the grounding when someone told on me. at 37 I picked up a guitar and now I have a band for when I'm ready. Thanks Slipknot for always being role models. You deserve all the fans you have and yall will be my top musicians till I'm dead. It will never grow old and the future will possibly laugh at us metalheads but to me its another Beethoven. Maybe a tad more live.
You got grounded at age 21?
@@stewartross13 lol typo I was thinking in my head ozzfest 2001 . Maybe I was 18. Thanks for checking my math 😹
Great episode! Love slipknot
For one of the biggest rockstars in the world, Corey is so down to earth and chill! What a great guy, he seems so genuinely excited about life and his passions.
A fellow Canadian in the industry who kicks ALL sorts of ass and Corey Taylor all in one place. What more could you ask for?
Corey's energy was unreal in Georgia this year. I didn't think they'd top 2019 Knotfest there but they did. Michael has been practicing his screams. They were divine. Despite their less movement on stage, their intensity is still there.
The arena sang almost the entire time.
I was in the pit for that show and holy shit it was the rowdiest Slipknot show I’ve ever been to. So many new fans in the crowd too. Corey sounds A-M-A-Z-I-N-G right now and the band looks and sounds like they’re at the top of their game. Had such a great time.
I was at both the 2019, and this years Knotfest in Georgia. Kicked so much ass both times, but this year was on a different level. Corey sounded GREAT, and the crowd was so amped up. The energy in the pit was also amazing, I had so much fun
Omg dude you got to interview the legend of slipknot that is so awesome
Totally loved this podcast😁🤘🏻 CMFT is the fuckin man💪🏻
20 years now as a die hard fan 🤘 You're the man Corey
The fact that you mentioned from dusk till dawn as one of your favorites Corey is so crazy man lol. That has always been one of my all time favorites and such an awesome movie and I've never heard anyone agree with me lol. So sic man.
OMFG how did i not notice you got corey on the pod
How did i miss this?!! Welp. Better late than never...lol. really enjoyed this. I've only ever gotten into Slipknot in the last year. And gone see them in Knotfest Chicago and this past Friday in LA. Corey seems like a cool ass dude.
Love hearing him talk of his kids getting into music. Love Vended, glad to have seen them in LA.
I was at the show in Camden, NJ on the 12th... I have never enjoyed something so much in my life🤘
Hell yea! Love it, Renee!
Oh my gosh man this was so cool 😭😭😭
Awesome episode I love slipknot
Wow 😳... Gives me goosebumps whn he talks about the Eagles ballroom "The Rave" in downtown Wisconsin.....I seen Slipknot in early 2000's at "Tattoo the Earth" with Slayer, sepultura, etc🤘... That place is VERY much haunted....and it's crazy the ballroom is on the 3rd floor....the whole set up at that place is sumthin else 👌
Corey Taylor is the man in Hervey metal I got to meet him at a meet and greet and it was amazing time.
What a name for the show
AWESOME!!!!!!
I live near Milwaukee Wi and. go the the Eagle ball room or the Rave that’s the middle level many times. At times can can feel the energy there if you before shows.
Corey Taylor???? Holy S, Renee, great get! Cant wait to listen.
All in all, this was a pretty rad podcast.
Great intervew.
This is awesome
I downloaded the Vended song (Corey's son's band) when it was available and Griffin 100000000% sounds like Corey. It is absolutely insane!
Sounds just like his Dad.
Lmao, yeah douchebags usually sound alike
@@thestu059 Sick burn dude. Keep on coming to someone else's CZcams channel to comment negativity when this whole episode was positive. If you don't like Corey, you sure are exhibiting fan behavior by seeking out this podcast episode to leave such a cleaver comment. 🤡
@@thestu059 have you ever tried not being useless? it's pretty nice.
The mask question was awesome. Always wonder their process was with their making of masks
What a collab so random but I’m for it 😂💯
I had a chance to hang out with Corey, Chris fen and Joey at the 2nd stop of Ozzfest their first tour before the first album came out in Charlotte NC, Corey was happy I knew of them and went on the bus to get me free stickers
If CMFT took part in a Jon Moxly theme I'd be so happy.
I can't imagine what SLIPKNOT music does to that venue "the eagles ball room" and the spirits in there. Does it manifest mega dark spirits? Demons dancing ballet in the mosh pits probsbly. I think it's all Corey. He's a paranormal magnet
i remember my ex actually met Sid at a Mayhem fest - the one they returned with Disturbed, Dragonforce, and Mastodon headlining with them. He had broken his ankle jumping off something and just wanted a drink and literally tried to slink on line with everyone. lol
I love that Corey is a huge horror fan. I remember when I first listened to the first album back in 99 I was scared as shit and I'm a huge horror fan as well. Halloween is also one of my favorite movies ever.
I have two Slipknot tattoos and a Michael Myers portrait on my forearm. I didn't know that Corey Taylor liked Halloween. It only gives my tattoo another meaning for having it.
My favourite singer of all time loves my favourite movie of all time (Hot Fuzz), that's amazing! CMFT is the best!!!
love hearing him say it makes you root for the hero i was watching supernatural and my daughter who was 3 at the time wondered over and wanted to watch and thankfully i had seen it thousands of times already so i could block her when i felt it necessary but i told her that sam and dean were heroes no one knew that they were heroes but they save the world every day
good choice on show! especially where it's supernatural, can't go wrong with Sam and Dean
Okay. This is fucking amazing!
31:09 David Fincher, one of the the best directors of all time, would probably agree with you there, and he directed Alien 3.
Wow Renee this is a big interview. Gonna get non wrestling fans watching this and hopefully get new fans of wrestling.
My buddy used to jam with code orange hell yeah
Loved this episode 🤘 I can absolutely say The Eagles Ballroom/The Rave is creepy as shit. Any time I go there, walking in, I feel a change. The singers of Godsmack, Shinedown, KoRn and the Chicago Cubs have similar stories about this place.
Renee💖💖💖💖💖
Hey Renae you should do a Episode With Randy Blythe From Lamb Of Gods!
Have Cory back soon Renee. This was great
Just seen Slipknot in Pittsburgh and hands down the greatest fucking concert of my life!!! I couldn’t of asked for a better experience just wish I was a smidge closer to take more of it in. Other then that, it will go down as my all time favorite show if not be almost impossible to top!
Sup from Cincinnati! Enjoy the historical home
Never clicked on a video so fast
Yoo this is actually siiick!! Super cool to see CMFT on the channel! Maybe we can see him have something to do in AEW?? 👀
Slipknot is All Elite confirmed in 3… 2… 1…..
I'm pretty sure if I remember correctly he did already, like last year. He appeared in the bubbly bunch thing the inner circle did. Also think they showed him in crowd also once.
It was like April 2020 when he appeared on AEW
Hey are you home?? We thought we saw children running around ,weeelll time to move out 😂

The second he said haunted venues, I knew he was gonna mention Eagle's Ballroom/The Rave. That was my hometown venue to catch acts. The pool area is spooky as shit.
Same grew up in Milwaukee loved eagles ballroom
