    The only thing I would've done differently is add a layer of gravel to the bottom of the hole, this will stop soil/compost blocking the drainage holes you cut.

      Great selection of plants with the contrasting colors and varying heights! Your dogs caught my eye- they look like mine, who is a tricolored mutt. What kind are they? Thanks for the video, I have a couple around my yard.

    I just saw your video on CZcams I just turned 64 and The Neighbor Next Door had a 17ft tree that died last year she wanted to get an arborist to cut it down and it cost about $1,500 one day I just grabbed the Chainsaw cut the thing down chopped it up and saw your video and decided to make a planter out of it looks very nice took me about three or four hours to do it I put some clear polyurethane around it so it wouldn't crack and then that turned out very well thank you very much🤩

    Great video. Love the planter. My neighbor just cut down a large tree in his yard and gave me five stumps. I plan to make two planters and use the other three use for plant stands. You have great talent. Blessings 🙏🏾

  • @solarroofing8072
    @solarroofing8072 Před 2 lety

    Cut the stump a few inches above the ground. Then take the log and cut It in half. Then cut out center wood or both half’s and paint with copper coat wood preservative then screw back onto base with some plastic shims. Will last a lot longer and faster to cut. That will rot out in 2 years

    Was the wood in this stump soft in the middle? Or was this tree cut down a fews years before you did this?

    • @MakersLane
      @MakersLane Před 3 lety +2

      About 30 minutes. It helps to have a sharp chain.

  • @charlescoker7752
    @charlescoker7752 Před 2 lety

    Do you have to wait until the stump has dried out to do this?

  • @BeautifuLakesStreamsBiologists

    I see why they cut the tree down. It was dead as evidenced by the soft heart wood. The planter may accelerate the decay since nothing was used to treat the edge of the stump to slow/prevent rot. Many old stumps in the forest have shrubs and seedling trees growing out of them. Don't be afraid to look around for what looks really natural. Cheers!

    I like your idea, but man shorts... are your shoes steel toed? I will be using my chaps, and some safety gear - one slip up and you can easily die from a leg artery cut. Be careful out there.
