Mr. Beast has done substantially more good in 3 years of his career than Vice has ever done during it's 27 years of operation.

Not a supporter of Vice but vice has informed many people about issues and provided general trivia, they may not be the best information source , but they are largely correct and they at least ask for opinion from experts unlke some infomation sources , it is convenient to just watch their videos and learn something new . Mr beast impact is largely localised to USA particullary a few states , but even if u look at USA it is just 1 big country . Teamtrees and teamseas are cumulation of the community's effort , so u cant attribute those initiatives to just him ,he did co-create the program with Mark rober , but i think someone else would have done that even if mr beast didnt do that .But other than teamtrees and teams seas , he hasnt affected the international community much , other than giving a few people money .Not saying MR beast hasnt done good in the world , but vice has impacted the world more by sharing knowledge to a larger audience .

But I get you bro, I think they did some very interesting and quality journalism in their past as well. I wouldn't count that as "good" in this context tho, because it doesn't help people in any meaningful way imo. (Plus they kind of did everything in their power to ruin that legacy in the last 5-6 years.)
Meanwhile Mr. Beast is literally changing lives for the better, even if "only locally".
The man has put food on the tables of thousands of families only for this thanksgiving, I wouldn't compare solid philanthropy like this with "informing people and providing trivia", especially when even you admit that it's not the best news source.
And not only that, he's actively setting a positive example to other creators and even for the community. His actions inspire people to try and do their own part.
So he's a positive influence on his audience of *83 million* people. I'd be honestly surprised if Vice ever had that number of people reading their articles.
Without his positive example and his resources, I really doubt teamtrees or teamseas would achieved as much as they it.
Sure they would exist probably, but their impact would be way smaller.
But I guess we just have to agree to disagree
@@atillanandorfuri3343 I think the old vice has spread awareness to many really bad problems like human trafficking and just the overall situation in afghanistan that helped a ton of people as well. I still agree that the new vice sucks and should die, but imo it wasnt always this way

Of course impartial journalism is always welcome, but back in those time news sources in general were way less partisan and spread less bs

Sadly, back in 2010/11 I used to watch Vice and actually enjoyed it, I'm struggling to figure out if they went downhill or were always shit, I stopped watching vice 10 years ago, but when Lewis brought them up and started trolling them I was so surprised as to how shit they had gotten.

The fact that this mr.beast video is being praised in korean local news made this even better lol. I mean, those local koreans are also being a fan of this mr.beast video. In the news, they praised him for making it so closed to the drama and they thought it is very interesting for being able to pull that off.
I'm not sure how the whole "copied" thing works here. Its not like he created a rip off show, or wrote a book with the same plot. Hell it's not even like he's copying a youtuber who regularly organizes such events.
The whole "reductive" thing might work if he was making some sort of official spin off that was a seprate IP.

The entire article (especially the last paragraph) just looks exactly like it was written by a middle schooler for an argumentative essay on why mrbeast squid game is bad. It's nothing more than a sad retread on an attempt to cancel him even though they themselves can't do any better even if they had a millenium to make a squid game recreation.
The sad thing is that Vice used to make great videos on conflicts in parts of the world that weren't covered by mainstream media organisations

My son watched Mr Beasts' Squid Games video, he's 6. No way would I let him watch the Netflix version. One thing Vice forgot to mention is that a huge amount of views Mr Beast gets is from children. You can't compare the numbers because one is made for all ages including kids, one is not.

Yeah, you would think that with the budget that goes into a Mr Beast video that he could at least kill a guy in the Squid Games video and pay the family for any damages. I was expecting at least one person to die as well, and I was going to do dislike the video and then, that was removed. All in all, the Squid Game video was just a disappointing experience.
There may not have been any executions in MrBeast's Squid Game video, but you just executed Vice.

That "it took 10 years to make squid game" line is pretty bullshit for another reason too. The director wrote the script 10 years ago, but for years no one would pay for the show until netflix came along. Production of the show took 2 years but it took the director 8 years before he found someone that would actually pay for production to start.
Artists take inspiration from each other all the time. And that's different from plagiarism. Inspiration is healthy for artists. Some of the best ideas were inspired from other works. I'd almost go so far as to say art is a collaberative medium--which is again, different from plagiarism. Good artists don't need to claim they made something someone else made. Any self-respecting artist would APPRECIATE their work being an inspiration for others. "Imitation is the greatest form of flattery," but plagiarism is a crime.
