When hubby and I were full-timers we liked to be parked for the night between 4-5 pm. About 6 hrs driving a day was hubby’s max and dawn departures were not our thing. We found getting the dog walked, dinner done, and relaxing before bed to be our easiest on the body routine. I loved snooping about in small communities, especially thrift stores. Never bought much, but loved the hunt.

So we live in Southwestern Ontario. We joined HH and had just a really great time going North, in Southwestern ON! We connected at a Brewery in Hanover ON at Maclean's Ale.....rear lot, QUIET! Great Beer! Then on to Rural Rootz Nature Reserve in Wiarton ON......ELECTRICAL connection and Smoked Salmon on Crackers upon arrival (how hospitable is that), and Miners Maple Syrup Farm......so Quiet, so Sweet! HH is the GEAR!

I finally used my Harvest Hosts membership last month when I took a 29 day, 2500 mile, 5 state trip to a trailer rally (Yay for retirement!) This morning for breakfast I scrambled farm fresh eggs that I bought at Alpine Drive Alpaca's in Hermiston, OR. They were my first HH, I was their first guest, and we all enjoyed each other's company! I stayed there again on my route home. They have animals, A-Z, alpaca's to Zebu's. I've also stayed at a Elkhorn Peak Lavender Farm, also in Oregon. I love HH and will be taking more trips with them on my routes! Oh, and I subscribed through your channel, so thank you!

Okay I’m signing up again. I use to own a house in Anaheim CA. I joined Boondockers Welcome and offered my driveway so people could go to Disneyland and enjoy the area. I met the coolest people! A young couple from Germany who insisted on having a BBQ at their expense and was so sweet to me! Now I sold my house and it’s time to join Harvest Host. I believe in you and your wisdom! You are a smart WOMAN! 😊

LOVE Harvest Hosts! I signed up based on your recommendation several months ago and it was a lifesaver! A cheap place to stay that is clean and decent - what’s not to love? I saw things I never would have seen: an ostrich farm, a museum of common household items from the early 1900’s, a gingerbread museum….on & on. Thanks so much!

    Hi Robin,
My sister and I are not full time but we do take advantage of free camping when we can. We have a harvest host membership but we were not going to renew it because we haven’t had a lot of luck getting a place because most places we tried wanted 24 hr notice which is not what we expected. Well yesterday we realized that we didn’t have a campsite reserved for today so we gave it another shot and it worked! We are sitting in a very nice parking lot of a distillery in TN. Thanks for reminding us that we had this option;).

What beautiful scenery, Robin, and what fun! I went to the quilt show in Sisters one year. I stopped at what I thought looked like a very inexpensive campground, but came to learn it was a homeless camp. I was welcomed, played with the kids, helped a person with a dead battery. They built a warm bon fire at night and we all shared a stories over a dinner of what I had in my truck, and what they had collected from Mother Nature. My time in Oregon was truly memorable.

I'll be the naysayer about harvest host, I was a host for a short time and unfortunately I don't sell any goods, I have a homestead with rescue animals and don't travel. The campers I had were great but all expected campground services instead of a safe private spot to rest and explore for a night or two. Hipcamp is a better fit and it's also private land owners and helps with in my case the animals I care for. Try Hipcamp! Help us non travelers and still get the small more remote ,safe , private land your looking for.

I just stumbled across your channel this morning while on a search for reliable internet. I enjoy your vlog style and you are so much fun to watch. My husband passed away at the beginning of this year and RVing was something I always wanted to do, so I bought a Class C and pick it up tomorrow. I will be traveling alone with my 2 little dogs. This year I will stay close to home while I get used to driving and setting up my RV. Next January-March, I want to head someplace warmer for the winter. We had 2 inches of snow yesterday in mid-Michigan and it is almost May. So sick of winter cold weather. I will continue to catch up on your videos and learn and be entertained. Oh, I also purchased one of your books this morning and that will be my reading on my first trip May 9. Thanks for such an enjoyable channel.

I've got a few more years before I can collect on my pension, but I think if I'm offered an early buyout I'm going to jump on it. Yes, get out if you can. I am 65 and waiting to go (mother caregiver obligations). The older you get, the more health issues pop up. (I don't have to tell you that, right?). My father was a workaholic, got hepatitis nonA, nonB from a tainted blood transfusion decades ago, which turned into liver cancer, and killed him at age 61 30 years ago. It's CRAZY to think I am older than him. Try to get as healthy as you can first and take care of any dental issues!

Wow, we loved that the one Harvest Host site suggested donating to the local community! Such a great idea! Thanks for sharing this. Stay safe out there!
