The Indian and Pakistani armies have taken British Parade Drill so over the top that to me it seems more like a football or soccer match rather than any legitimate military drill.

I passed thru this border twice in 1972 and recall that the ceremony was performed by both sides. Although as I recall it was perhaps not quite so elaborate, there was no cheerleader encouraging the crowd and no women participated.

No the British Army never did this type of drill movements, this is created by the Pakistanis and Indians themselves, they wanted create a dramatic display and pomp for visitors.

Of course it's natural that former colonies take inspiration from a successful military organisation with a training model that produces good NCOs and officers, the training regular troops are thorough and intensive.
We never did high kicks and wide theatrical arm posings, that's a local culture thing and unusually for both sides there is a lot of coordination and signals passed between both sides of the border so they can put on a good show for the spectators, shame same the same level of cooperation doesn't exist between Pakistani and Indian governments.
