- This was our first ride on the KATY trail, so we weren't quite aware just how dusty conditions could get when there had not been rain for several weeks. Glad we had masks and goggles along because if you are not the leader, those behind you eat a lot of limestone dust. On this day we rode from the Busch Greenway Trailhead near Weldon Springs to the eastern terminus of the trail at Machens. It was ok up to St Charles, but after that it was not that scenic and very dusty. Glad to say we have completed this section. On our second day (video to follow) the scenery was much nicer and we enjoyed traveling through all the little towns along the way. The entire KATY trail from Clinton to Machens is 240 miles. This video only covers the eastern most 26.5 miles of the trail (53 for us since we rode out and back).
Welcome to Mo., the Katy is a nice ride, always enjoy it.
I wanted to ride the whole trail this year and camp along the way but with the covid scare I did not because of shut downs and stuff but I hope to next yearI hear its a great ride
Get ready for the dust, if it had not rained in a while. We plan to return in the future to ride more of the western end.
What kind of trike did you ride, and do you think a trike without a suspension system would be okay on that trail? Nice video. Easy and fun to watch.
We both road an AZUB Ti-Fly. I wouldn't ride it without suspension or at least some balloon tires like Big Ben's. In the video you can see two distinct tracks where the bikes run. With a trike, both front wheels are running outside that smoother single track, so suspension is very welcomed.
@@rollingreclinerRecumbent Thanks. I appreciate your reply. Good to know.
