- When I bought my first video camera I took myself to the Agora Ballroom in Hallandale Beach Florida. I used that night to practice my skills with the camera on one of my favorite local bands, THE KIDS. The band featured Bruce Witkin, Joey Malone, Beano Hanti, and Johnny Depp.
I reckon Johnny Depp might be the most looked up person on the Internet at the moment thanks to this trial. Good! I hope every single element of his life is completely restored. He is a truly talented person, but also really kind and generous too.

I grew up in a village where one of the best countertenors of the world grew up. He was a couple of years older than me and used to play with my brother. I wouldn't have been able to put it in words but I always felt that he is so much bigger than this village ...

Remember riding our horses to watch them rehearse at the warehouse at L lake in Davie across from the Tradewinds Apts where we both lived. We were all just kids then , Johnny 17 I think I was 13.. Where has the time gone?

I shot videos of the KIDS from 1981 to 1983 and a reunion in 1984 after he first movie.

I was there. It was the Agora Ballroom and then it was Button South. Saw The Kids play there for a few years. Saw them in Daytona Beach for Spring Break one year.

Brings back the memories - saw them many times at the Agora. Always wonder if maybe Johnny and I crossed paths somewhere along the lines back then because we didn't live too far apart and probably ran in similar circles. I practically grew up in the Agora (and later when it became The Button South).
For a time he lived behind the Hess station on Pembroke Rd. in Miramar
where I worked.

Really wild. Johnny has a great story. It's almost "Trippy" how odd it looks on CZcams. To the right side there are connected videos to this one, of Johnny on David Letterman, Jimmy Kimmel, and then too Johnny playing wth Keith Richards.
But imagine the Johnny in THIS video? It's absolutely ridiculous. Its so ridiculous.... every time i think of his story.
The key part of it to me is always the fact that he went west, he didnt just get "born" west. A lot of the other hollywood actors , you look into them and you come to find that they were *already* west, or they were in the mid-west. Or they were just rich from the beginning and had parents who took them west when it was 'time'.
Johnny, however, starts in the actual deep south with no resources (not many actually start there, believe it or not), then winds up in Florida, which is like that tourist south..... (which I think most of us go to, secretly wishing it was California)
and then for some reason however, he actualy just hops all the way out to actual LA, and boom, thats it, never comes back east. The next time he makes a true move he essentially goes to Europe, and its all a wrap, hes royalty. But it still remains that he's not an actual Californian. So its kinda crazy.
Tim Burton for instance is Californian. Not really all that much to his story. Same with DiCaprio. Many of them are like I said. But Johnny.... howd you do it man?

The Agora had a lot of great concerts there. It was located just off I-95 Hollywood (Or Hallandale?), Fla. I saw a great local So. Fla. band there in the early '80s called The Front (friends of mine). Also saw Spirit, Johnny Winter, 38 Special and many others I cannot recall at the moment.
