Saif is seriously one of the most underrated actor in Bollywood. Given his intelligence, I can listen to him for hours without getting bored, ever. After Sushmita Sen...he is the one that comes to my mind who is very articulate.

Unfortunately nobody wants to give saif credit for bringing negative characters in fashion in bollywood. He played such a sweet and unpredictable villain in ek hasina thi which was so refreshing. In Omkara and Being Cyrus as well, he played refreshing negative characters with aplomb and gave his career best performances. Everyone raves about shah rukh’s negative characters in darr and baazigar but no one talks about saif’s contribution to bringing negative characters in fashion in Bollywood.

I think part of the reason was, that when srk actually did it, being a villain or playing a negative character, if you wanted to be a “hero” was almost career suicide. So he was really sticking his neck out and still made a mark. While I agree Saif has done a great job, however when he actually started playing these characters of the bad boy/villain, the idea of the anti hero was actually thriving in movies. So while yes he did those characters he can’t exactly be considered a pioneer for it. Just my 2 cents

Saif actually has some of the best movies in his kitty in terms of performance and music. Hum Tum, DCH, RHTDM, Salaam Namaste, Cocktail, Love Aaj Kal, KHNH, Omkara... He really brought his A game post 2000.
