Any invention for the kitchen that tries to replace what skill and a knife can do can go down the shitter. No disrespect to those guys but this one is for semi-amateurs.

I wouldn't buy one just because i gotten handy with the knife and i can do it within 20 seconds. So it is good for beginners but people in professional kitchens or home cookers wouldn't buy it

Na the product just applies to a super small market so it not worth the sharks time to invest in and work on it. If it was a product that would help prepare multiple types of fishes with squid I'm sure they would have invested.

Market size. Every home owner has to do the dishes in some form or another. Not ever home owner is a fisherman who catches their own squid. Of those that do, not everyone needs help to clean it. Thats my take at least.

It's called a thing coz it's only do one thing, which is for squid. Unlike sponges which can use in daily household chores, not just for washing dishes but for cleaning any other else and it will diminish its durability which in return it will be resold again. Unlike this thing which only cater with small market and most of the time who handles squid are already knows how to handle it with a knife. In terms of durability, it would last long and therefore the return of investment is in slower pace.

What about services? And a product alone isn't enough to have a successful business. His point was it's too early and he doesn't want to put down $100,000 due to execution risk during commercialization.
That means that the product hasn’t become a business yet. It can’t pay for production, employees or anything. It’s still a product that needs a lot of investment to become something that can sustainable.
It’s the same thing about having a company and having a job. If you work for yourself but your business can’t run without you have a job, not a company.
Most are, not all. Many are service based.
Yeah, but sometimes the best way to make money from a thing is to license it to someone else. But you don't need an investor to pull off a licensing deal.

Maybe the people who go on have no idea and that's why they pitch it to them but the investors wouldn't waste time on something that hasn't been pre screened and vetted. Kinda like how most reality tv works.
This is an amazing opportunity. Most of the times I can only find squid at the fish market, supermarkets never sell it because they don't want to make workers spend hours cleaning squid.

This idea is brilliant especially in use in fresh seafood places that have to clean the squid which with large orders this would make it quicker to complete orders in rapid succession without risk of cutting yourself in the process

That was a weird one. Squid may not be a massive market but it´s still sizable enough to make a profit. This tool seemed to work really well and was patent prtected in a lot of profitable places. The way I see it they only need to package it properly and get it into fishing and seafood realted stores and they would easily make their investment back. I feel like it wouldn´t need a lot of work to get it rolling...
