These Matt & Woolie videos really make me realise something. As much as I love Pat, it's so nice to be able to hear Matt make his points and tell his stories without constantly being shouted over while Pat barrels along, spewing comedy into the air like a ginger tsunami. There's a different kind of energy to them, and it's great!
Woolie has all of my respect now. It was only for a few seconds, but that was the Monstars theme song from Space Jame. Quality tunes from a quality children's movie...
They think they're joking about co-op games being impossible to have fun with... Fast forward a few years and all new co-op games are designed *specifically* to end friendships.
I imagine it must be tough being friends with the likes of Matt, Pat, and Woolie- knowing that what you say or do will eventually become material for their videos.
The guy who did the swinging mechanics in Spider-man 2, Jamie Fristrom, is making a new game entirely built around swinging. Its called Energy Hook, and it has a Kickstarter.
I prefer their fun talk rather than reading a response. Because no amount of typed words can match Pat's laughter at the Xbox or Matt' s "It's not great"
The reason they're talking about spiderman is because of the swinging mechanics, which are a huge part of the game they are playing. Status: Told [X] Not Told[ ]
I think the Spider-man 2 love just comes from it accurately capturing the feel of the superhero in question. So few games do them well, which is why I think they are generally well received, like Spider-man 2, X-men Origins: Wolverine, Hulk: Ultimate Destruction, Batman: AA/AC, and the PS2 Punisher game.
Speaking of Spiderman 2, the creator of the swinging mechanics is now running a kickstarter for his new game called Energy Hook. It's basically Spiderman 2 if it was 100% swinging but even better. I really recommend checking it out.
It comes from how, even in tournies the best tactics near the end of most matches of Cross Tekken was to play for a time out. Therefore "laming it out" became a common and in fact superior tactic.
About 75% of Web of Shadows involved that cool fighting mechanic. So, by Matt's own measuring system pointed out in this video, it's still a good game!
Never in my life have I ever considered unsubscribing from a channel I love above all others, but I swear to god those Adam Sandler references tore open wounds deep inside. Please, no more. I beg of thee.
Common TBF quotes (in no particular order): "America!" - Matt. "I hope its not Chris' blood" - Pat. "Yeaaaa" - Woolie. "Lame it out. Lame it out like it's cross Tekken" - All. "It's fine, it's fiiiiine" - Pat. "It's not great" - Matt and Pat. "More than you'd expect, but less than you'd hope" - Matt
@6:34 Speaking of Podcasts, I would love hearing you guys just come together and make a Podcast about gaming. Get the whole crew together (Woolie, Pat, Liam, etc.) and just talk about games. The arguments you guys would have would be LEGENDARY. Come on guys, make it happen.
I feel that way for rule 34. It's a commitment humanity has made. And one of the very few it has stuck to. The art itself might not be great, but the fact that it's a constant is pretty cool.
Spiderman 2 was the tits man. The combat was fun and having all the extra comic book villains in it really spiced it up. And yeah the web-slinging was the best.
the sequel to Mary Jane Simulator would be, Matt Simulator all tha would be different is instead of smoking he calls up Pat and playing a mini game where you yell insults at each other, as you wait for woolie to come home and play shovel knights with you.
I feel the same way. I loved that game. It had the great swinging mechanics of Spider-Man 2, but with an actually decent core game it was built around. I think, in hindsight, the Venom stages were pretty "meh", though. They were basically just a watered down Hulk: Ultimate Destruction.
Spider-Man 3 was my favorite game. Way better missions, better combat, and better swing mechanics, way better graphics, and just an overall improvement.
Mary Jane smoking was in the Maximum Carnage series. In the 9th issue of 14 she was smoking while bitching about Peter and I believe it was implied she was jealous of Fire Star.
Spiderman 2? Ultimate? PSX Spiderman? All good games sure, but Maximum Carnage and Separation Anxiety for the Genesis is where it's at! YEAH, going old school over here! XD
The guy who made the Spiderman 2 swinging mechanics is working on an Indie title about... swinging with the swinging mechanics of Spiderman 2. You also have a jetpack for short boosts. It's on Kickstarter... with a goal of 1 buck because he's doing it anyway, but can do more shit the more time he can invest depending on donations. Last I checked, it was 30.000 bucks.

I never expected to hear something along the lines of "Thank God Woolie was there to get them through the game" in my life
That crazy suspense when Matt gets off topic from a story and you worry he'll never finish.
I have so many good memories doing the swinging bonus races in spiderman 2. I probably spent more time doing those than the actual missions
Woolie has all of my respect now. It was only for a few seconds, but that was the Monstars theme song from Space Jame. Quality tunes from a quality children's movie...
Gotta love when videos with Woolie go up.
I fucking loved shattered dimensions Matt, I want a Spider-Man Noir stealth game.... Anyone else?
Really appreciative of what your guys do. Thanks for the good times watching and listening to your commentary. Thumbs up !!
I like those inside stories Matt and Woolie have.
They think they're joking about co-op games being impossible to have fun with... Fast forward a few years and all new co-op games are designed *specifically* to end friendships.
Fights in that game last so long that it usually ends in a timeout even if both players are rushing eachother down.
I'm so glad we still have fun and competent 2d platformer/sidescroller games to play in this day and age.
I imagine it must be tough being friends with the likes of Matt, Pat, and Woolie- knowing that what you say or do will eventually become material for their videos.
thatgamecompany really is redefining the way people look at video games, and I couldn't be happier about it.
Pat also tends to say "Are you fuggin' serious?!" a lot.
And of course there's Woolie's random "Yo's"
Oh god, Woolie creating imaginary Pat x Liam fanart is the best. XD
The guy who did the swinging mechanics in Spider-man 2, Jamie Fristrom, is making a new game entirely built around swinging. Its called Energy Hook, and it has a Kickstarter.
I like the swing mechanics of the lightning tether in Infamous 2. I felt like electric Spider-Man
I prefer their fun talk rather than reading a response. Because no amount of typed words can match Pat's laughter at the Xbox or Matt' s "It's not great"
Damn I haven't heard anyone quote those Adam Sandler cd's in a decade.
Fantastic.
The Venom in the PSX Spiderman games was the best Venom we've ever had.
''Surf the web, surf the web''
Yeah we really need a Matt and Woolie play Shattered Dimensions now.
I love that almost a year later they're still making fun of Pat and Liam's vita love.
The Prowler was a character in the Spider-Man comics who was somewhat design like Spawn when you look at his mask.
Liam, you are the hero the Vita needs.
The reason they're talking about spiderman is because of the swinging mechanics, which are a huge part of the game they are playing.
Status: Told [X] Not Told[ ]
Whenever a spiderman game gets brought up I get sad when no one ever brings up ultimate spiderman. That game was so awesome.
Spiderman 3 had even better swing mechanics + a bigger more awesome city. The game itself make Spiderman 2 look like a masterpiece...
XD Oh god, all I can imagine is Woolie freaking out about Cardcaptor Sakura
I just.. I can't even...
Man, Matt is being the Woolie of this walktrough...
Now I'm imagining Pat sacrificing Liam to cast a spell.
It's horrifying, Liam won't stop screaming.
Soul Sacrifice is where all the real OGs go.
Matt... don't underestimate fellow artists, you can't stop them.
Matt is the bronzed Adonis and Pat is the demon with the lava beard.
"Every victory is a great one."
-Matt
Hey Matt remember that time when you won in Tao Feng and it was awful?
When Mat yells out PI PI PI! I thought he was turning into a pokemon.
Every time I think of the whole spiderman 2 praise, I always am surprised people forget ultimate spiderman
Speaking of Spiderman 2, the creator of the swinging mechanics is now running a kickstarter for his new game called Energy Hook. It's basically Spiderman 2 if it was 100% swinging but even better. I really recommend checking it out.
leave every man behind, that's a great battle cry.
I love the Power Claw. It's so bad.
"Swingin' a chain... swingin' a chain" ~ Betty
Woolie said it, and it happened.
Woolie confirmed as Nu God.
I was scared, but curiosity got the best of me. That's actually pretty fucking cool.
Ah, yes.
Good times were had.
Well, I guess Matt's got something new to support now.
oh god i hope that fan fic gets made just to see the reaction XD
Mary Jane Simulator, game ends when she dies in either a plane crash or from radioactive spider semen.
Nah she has to fall from a clock tower or it isint Canon
That was Gwen Stacy, not Mary Jane.
Tom Turpin Godamit pat, you just had to ruin my joke!.
It comes from how, even in tournies the best tactics near the end of most matches of Cross Tekken was to play for a time out. Therefore "laming it out" became a common and in fact superior tactic.
why does no one talk about Matt's amazing descriptions.
About 75% of Web of Shadows involved that cool fighting mechanic. So, by Matt's own measuring system pointed out in this video, it's still a good game!
Wow Liam and Pat are 2 of the 5 people that own a Vita.
Swinging around is so fun tho. Just for that reason alone it should be played.
That Ultimate Spiderman game was pretty sick. The cel-shaded one where you could be Venom, I used to play the shit out of that game.
the ultimate spiderman game had the best swinging mechanics.
Never in my life have I ever considered unsubscribing from a channel I love above all others, but I swear to god those Adam Sandler references tore open wounds deep inside. Please, no more. I beg of thee.

Thanks to this video I've been having dreams of using that grappling gun on all kinds of different things from stoplights to soda machines.

Come on guys, make it happen.
Pat and Liam's Vita playthtoughs: The unfilmed saga.
this game rescued me from quiting games.
now im gonna draw so much matt fanart having fun with his friends :D
..not the gay way
"Spiderman III was an abortion of epic preportions." I agree.
I feel that way for rule 34. It's a commitment humanity has made. And one of the very few it has stuck to. The art itself might not be great, but the fact that it's a constant is pretty cool.

Matt probably knows more about spider-man then Sony does.
Mary Jane Simulator: Extended Shower version. I'm on to you Matt.
Not only play as Venom, but you could play as Venom kicking Wolverine's ass.
I really have more important things to do than watch CZcams videos...
Fuck it! Matt and Woolie take precedence!
Ultimate spiderman, one of the best ps2 games ever...
Matt referenced RvB. My life is wonderful.
Right up there with Spidey 2
They can talk about whatever game they want.
I feel the same way. I loved that game. It had the great swinging mechanics of Spider-Man 2, but with an actually decent core game it was built around. I think, in hindsight, the Venom stages were pretty "meh", though. They were basically just a watered down Hulk: Ultimate Destruction.
Spiderman: Web of Shadows had GREAT webswinging and good combat. But Ultimate spiderman was one of the best spiderman games I agree.
Love the buffoon references
and liam showing up randomly to rub his achievements in their faces
I just realized that when matt says, "Just like John Wayne would have done" he's referencing Red vs Blue episode 57. How could i have been so stupid
"Stop hitting yourself! Stop hitting yourself!"
Thanks, Matt and Woolie. I needed that panic attack. #PatXLiam6ever
Pat & Liam's Kawaii-ass Vita Playthroughs
Spider-Man 3 was my favorite game. Way better missions, better combat, and better swing mechanics, way better graphics, and just an overall improvement.
When you play the game, half of the time you don't win by real fighting but by judgement.
A NAME
GIVE ME A NAME
that sounds so awesome, I must know what it's called.
THEY'RE ALL GONNA LAUGH AT YOU!!!
Damn straight. It was sooo underrated.
Mary Jane smoking was in the Maximum Carnage series. In the 9th issue of 14 she was smoking while bitching about Peter and I believe it was implied she was jealous of Fire Star.
the emblem next to the title is so badass im re doing it for my controller modding company
web of shadows is the best spider-man game, seriously underrated.
This game's soundtrack is SO FUCKING GOOD, JESUS CHRIST.
Spider-man 2: The Movie Game was the best Spider-man game
you guys REALLY should play Spider-Man 2 or Shattered Dimensions. I'm dying to see how much more Matt really knows about Spider-Man.
I agree, that game was the hypest.
U guys got me playin this game again
Ultimate Spiderman is the best Spiderman game of all time.
Spiderman 2? Ultimate? PSX Spiderman? All good games sure, but Maximum Carnage and Separation Anxiety for the Genesis is where it's at! YEAH, going old school over here! XD
Journey has good level design and great atmosphere. Spiderman, however, had neither of them.
They're referring to the prominence of waiting out the clock in SFXT.
