Great video but the title is misleading. Should be titled client engagement.
Which is marketing
@@fredriknordebrink1959 people are looking for marketing in business not engagements. So the title is misleading
No marketing content. Just customer interaction in the studio.
In the introduction he talked to that lady like a sleazy player
Had no idea Thanos was a photographer
Poppaneedsanap 😭😭😂
I laughed so hard when i saw this comment! 🔥😁🔥 ig @nightlife_style
Talk about over-thinking things. He totally flirted with the first lady. 😅
one year later but LOL good one
Ironically taking “headshots”
I used to be shy I came up with a bunch of characters to pull out. Love this guys!
I see a lot of negative comments on this video saying that those advices were poor marketing advices etc and how handing your clients cards is not gonna do anything for your business and what not... but.
Seriously, I am in the business as a portrait/lifestyle photographer and this is *pure gold*. Some folks around here need to chill out on their expectations and actually *listen* to what masters like Pete are saying... maybe the title of the video is wrong or whatever but this is SO important.
The best marketing tool you have is your clients' experiences. He is damn right in that. A lot of people spend time building their IG and all but first of all you gotta build your people skills and then you're going to see one client recommending you to another then to another etc etc and it's just gonna be snowballing! Anyway, I love this guy.
13:10 Wait, is he using a Playstation controller as a mouse!?! That's awesome!
Big Willie-isms I saw that too! Great! :-D
www.cullinator.com/ :)
beat me to it :)
Big Willie-isms nice idea
I was just gonna say haha... Is that custom mapped or something? What's the deal? I like!
Getting clients for photography is all about being able to showcase the feeling for your clients before the purchase. Having the expectation set high on the feeling and not on the service allows for us as the photographer to go above and beyond to exceed expectations (without pressure or over promising) and have the client be in an all around better mood about the process. Talk to the client above being able to cherish the captured moment not see a beautiful print (although nice). This is what our channel is about leveraging passion for profit from a marketing standpoint and we just dropped a video on this topic! I did enjoy how you described reading and catering to the energy of your client, while business cards are great we feel strongly about leveraging the digital age we live in to drive more clients! Thanks for the video!
This is great advice for someone who does enjoy taking photos. But also have a bit of social anxiety. This not only helped people be more relaxed in front of my camera. But I felt more relaxed around people. Something that I have never seen a yt video about.
I am hobbyist with over 5 years experience in self-studies. I am glad I started following your work again. Good refresher course. Thanks.
The guidance and direction this man shared for FREE is MILES above all the gizmo bullshit advice other videos put out. I needed this video. Thank you so much.
THIS MAN HAS CHARISMA
Love the Moo-products! Also love Peter's style. Thanks, guys!
OMG I LOVE Peter Hurley!!!!! What a terrific personality.
Hey Peter, I am a retired businessman and amateur photographer . I bought your first headshot tutorial about 4 years ago and it made me a MUCH better photographer. Even though I don't charge for my photography (mostly I shoot family & friends), I get an enormous amount of satisfaction being able to get great headshots. Thanks!
One question: why did you give up your Hasselblad? I've been a Nikon shooter for years and love my Nikon gear (still shoot Nikon for sports and action) but I bought an X1D last year and have fallen in love with the results. This is particularly true once you commit an image to paper. The color fidelity & resolution and shade edge transition are simply over the top. You can even use your old H series lenses with the X1D using the inexpensive XH adapter. You might want to investigate this first-of-its-kind mirrorless medium format camera.
Omg.. mind blown.. thank you so much. Tomorrow I'm doing my first paid shoot and I was so nerves how am I gonna pose my client. This is like a blessing.. super cool tricks..
Excellent. Moo has soooo excelled in what they have produced for me from my original design. Customer service above and beyond and the quality of my square foil embossed cards are A+++ . Great video. Thank you, Peter. Thank you Moo.
Great video! 😍😍😍 The advice is awesome and the products so professional looking. I love their minicards for my personal branding. I have great reactions to them every time I give my card to someone.
THANK YOU SO MUCH, PETER, FOR ALL THE PRIME TIPS AND ENCOURAGEMENT!!! I FEEL LIKE A BETTER PHOTOGRAPHER FOR JUST HAVING WATCHED THIS VIDEO WITH YOU!!!
Product placement at its finest. Definitely going to check that website out. & I’m definitely going to use my PS controller to edit now lol
How do you do it?
I totally heard "Hey guys, Pete Hurley here, I'm a hedgehog photographer". Awesome :D
SO much good stuff in this video! Thank you!
Brilliantly put together. Superb advice ... Thank you 👍
Omg I love this guy. So helpful.
Peter is my favourite person on this channel, he seems to have the most common sense (as seen on his appearences in the critique episodes with the broken rating system ;)
Wow! Great insight!
Love this video! Great timing for me - I'm reading your book right now and I'm nearing the end so this is very useful to reinforce all the new information I'm picking up - it's helping me remember more of it :D
guys I highly recommend Peter's book!
You are the best Peter, and I enjoy learning from you. Thanks.
Great video. I always love watching this guy
I love Peter and the headshotcrew!!! 👍
You uploaded this video on right time. Feeling lucky. This is what I was trying to know.
Advait Thakur same!
Same. I’m doing headshots now. Needed advice.
And now you know about Moo.com. Happy Times :-D
another great video. thanks for the insight this will help greatly
Lots of useful information. TKS
Thank you so much!!
You're a great director.....key in a successful photo shoot. I see a bit of myself in how you approach any photo shoot! Great video!
Great video Peter, thank you!
awesome! thanks! i'll save this video!
I'm loving the color of that grey background!
My business is forever changed. Whoa! Thank you Rocket Man Peter Hurley.
How To Market For Moo.com
Five River Films no discount code?
Yeah for real, Like a 15 min ad about them at the end.. how about go to your local printer and build a relationship
So thats how you market your photography business..? You print stickers and business cards at moo.com? What a joke. I'd say Google Ads and Facebook is a better way to go!
I was wondering about Peter he getting better and better just like wine Great teaching. Gracias
You are a great Photographer Mr. Peter!
Yeah walk up to the model, block her path, stand squarely in front of her and don't stop staring. That will get her relaxed. I know Peter Hurley is a genious photgrapher but this isn't a prime example of a good first impression. I would feel intimidated even as a guy.
Kim Jonsson thought I was the only one lmaooo
Kim Jonsson I thought I was the only one... this video is just an add for Moo and showcases someone with more gusto in the locale. I’ve spent a ton of money on business coaching and this covers nothing very beneficial other than how to communicate. I was hoping to find customer acquisition costs info and pre-qualify tactics. Blahhh f-stoppers are just some Corp bs.
EXACTLY! Specially if you're a woman, this type of behavior is what's gonna fire all your internal alarms and scream "CREEP!" inside your head. I had to come check the comments to see if I'm not alone when I got to this part lol.
Yes! Glad it wasn't just me. While his demeanor is very upbeat, his approach was a little strong. I'd feel put on the spot by that.
JD C f-stoppers are shills
This was really good! And the guy is awesome!
Thankyou !! Great help :)
this is one of the best photography videos i have ever watched, so many negative comments here, i guess it's true that rich and successful people are only 1 to 10% ... and probably the ones who commented bellow are the 10% who will always complain
You work inspire me always. Thank you
Great video Peter you inspired me to start my business fifteen years ago and I am now sharing everything I have learnt from you and others on my You Tube channel. There is some great advice here.
Hey Pete, this was great! Thanks!
thank you man
Great tips, thank for sharing. This was my first exposure to your work and I'm in love. You make everyone look beautiful and real. I'm inspired to do better in my work.
So basically to get people in the door in the first place, hand out business cards and put stickers in key places. You have to get them in the door first before you do the personality thing, that is after they come thru the door. Good info Peter, but nothing different than what others say to promote business which according to the area, may not even work. We or I need to know how to get them into the door.
Thanks broo. I will use this think for. I have try this technik but i'm so always forget with this think to comfortable client 😄😄. Cool. Thanks thanks thanks much
Great Video and thanks for the business card tip! ;)
I really enjoyed this video! :D Great job!
If Thanos and Will Ferrell had a kid together
Lol
Wtf
Wow this is all so much great information. It feels basic in "business or sales" but honestly so many photographers don't know how to do this so loved hearing this information!!
Michelle Cox Photography not a bad intro video... how are the best of the best disrupting their industry? Being a CZcamsr, social proofing, creative projects...I’ve had success with word of mouth and that still wins with a portfolio. Making first impressions count to make a network. Working with famous people is a biggie to... thoughts? Thx
Great guy.
Thanks for the tips, Thanos!
Is there a link for the lighting kit?
He got me with the play station controller lol... love the idea.
13:08 you use a PS controller to manouver capture one?! can we please have a tutorial on that? :D
I am primarily a Graphic Designer and I have used MOO for several business cards. Now, if they would just come up with competitively priced custom-printed envelopes to match the custom-printed letterheads they offer? I have never had a client order custom letterheads without wanting matching envelopes (not just blank white envelopes).
13:13 is this application built-in with his camera set up or something or is it something people use?
capture one is a tethering app. Its a 3rd party app that works with most cameras, or you can use lighroom
nice did a session with Pete at photoshopworld last weekend!
the three light setup very close still produces an un-natural pupil with triangles!
What's a natural pupil?
@@Jantonvid circular supongo
agree; the result is similar to the ring light, btw
I don’t see how you can have dislikes on this video smh but thanks a lot i really enjoyed this video
The first half of the video is real great tips. The second half is a commercial for Moo.... but that's okay, because I've been using Moo's business cards for years and they're really great. Moo is awesome, and I'm not paid to say it.
Great stuff. Keep it simple.
That's cool, I know some guys in the headshop business too.
Peter Hurley is like the George Clooney of photography
peter is fucking clown
SUPERΔRTIFICIΔL jealous?
Yes!
What he said
Awesome 👏🏼
Where do you stick those stickers?
OW! A blast of your old haircut.
Helpfull
More videos about how the hell Peter sync'd a Playstation controller to Lightroom! LMAO
it's called a cullinator
He's using Capture One and not a PS controller. Generic GamePads can easily be used as a control device for Capture one and your computer in general , software such as "enjoyable" or Padmate are designed exactly for that.
This is a new idea to me. I may have to try this out.
ok now, why use a gamepad ?
Frido Botomba ergonomics for your hand and ease of use
good stuff!
Is there a discount code hidden in there somewhere?
Great video
Maybe, after this video,Peter was so tired in that critique..this is another man
Great
Josh Brolin is such a good photographer! 😀
Dope video what kind of controller was in your hand
#SHABAAAANGG !! from Zürich.
The square stikers was good! 22:57
Peter Hurley do you have to discount code you can share?
I prefer Peter Hurley to Peter Curly!
you got new subscriber
That Panerai is looking sharp on the wrist!
0 info on really marketing your photography business... you need to get people to see your work and know who you are to get them in the door. Maybe have Fstopers make videos about you? That seems to help🤪
He used told you how to market yourself effectively via word of mouth(Do a good job and hand them a business card). Did we not watch the same video?
@@emmanuelguillermo2265 do a good job to who? Hand business cards to who? You need to have clients. Once you already have clients- then yes word of mouth but that's redundant. That's the same as not marketing because that happens on its own.
Denise Houk for real... this just reminds that a photographer is not usually trained in sales, marketing, branding or packaging. Nor are we very good at being off the cuff and pre-qualifying the client or even showcasing social proof. How do we disrupt this industry?
Emmanuel Guillermo I agree... let’s just cover the clickbait title that marketing in this video is more like after-sales (he doesn’t even mention a follow up). It starts with pre-qualifying the client of course. Their video is basic that’s all and shows more of a user interface ad for Moo. I wish there were better videos showcasing actual marketing techniques instead of the basics. Like how to engage with new clients when you are in the street or at a party. This is really hard for most service based business owners. Not to mention a website that engages a message within 3-seconds of visiting your site. Also showing off things like video testimonials and social proofing like having a annual party for all your clients. Look outside your industry for ways to disrupt your industry and realize the best marketer always wins. How will the influence your customer acquisition cost? Man these are new school thoughts not even being talked about here.
Great video, thank you for making it, very helpful.
Thought this was a bangbros episode for a second.
That dudes awesome
This is so fucking good
I met Peter years ago at a Fstoppers event and all I can say is he’s a great guy it’s not something he puts on for the camera.
I know how to take good pictures except that i dont kniw how to start the business and talk to my client i'm nervois tslking to other people
Wwwwwwwwait, I just tried this and the closer the light source is to a subjects edge the harsher the light but the further it is from the subject the softer the fall off. Or did I miss something here.....
The closer the light, the softer the light will look. The transitions between highlight and shadow will be softer, but you will also get a lot of fall off so you can easily make one side of the face too dark while the other is perfectly exposed. If you move the light back, the subject will be lit evenly (less fall off) but your shadows will become sharper and harsher. -P
I thought this was about marketing, at the very end he says hopefully business will come my way..what kind of marketing principle is that anyway?
