I agree with everybody. Isn't he the best you tuber!! I have watched several of his videos over and over. He is such a joy to watch and listen to. I wish we had someone like him where I live to do workshops. I would never miss.

i should have watched your videos earlier this day - really informative in an entertaining way!while getting tons of weeds out of my grandparent's rose bed i git rid of all the mulch as well... its pretty hot and windy this time of the year (in greece) and now im wondering if lawn clippings would be a good idea. i wont get any wood mulch around here. what do you suggest?

I like your video series. A question on watering. What if you have other annuals and perennials mixed? How do you best water then?

We get enough rain fall that I don't worry about watering the roses. But if you have to just water the perennials as you normally would and that should take care of the roses. Keep in mind roses don't like wet feet and infrequent deep watering is best.

I live in Mauritius, and it's basically summer all year long here. Gets a little cooler for about 3 month, starting June or so. Would the same rules apply? Especially about the choice of fertilizer?
In a climate like that i would just groom the roses all year long. You might think about doing your pruning during the hottest time of the year.
Paul what should I do if I did not bury my grafted roses deep enough?-mine are at least 2 inches above the soil-should I mound the dirt up around them?? My own root roses are fine, they were easy to plant as youngsters-it's the older grafted I am worried about.
Hi just bought compost and bought Neopeat (is it good as mulch)? thats all they had :L . It says High moisture retention. Improves physical & biological condition of soil.... And that you should Add 18 to 22 ltrs. of water per bale of 4.5 kg. Should i follow the instructions? or i just spread it out like you did the mulch then water it? Thanks so much :)
My roses live in a constant supply of Nitrogen, coffee grounds for mulch. Nitrogen naturally drops in October. This is obvious when my Cosmos finally blooms in October. My composters are (2) Rex rabbits.

@@Mike-om4tv No, studies have shown that once coffee is brewed it is fairly neutral. My soil is acidic which roses like. I have the grounds on top of cardboard. I always know when the deer have visited bc I see their hoof prints:-)

@@Mike-om4tv I just transplanted a rose, Melody Parfumee by Weeks. I moved it from the south garden where it got limited sun to the north east garden where it'll get morning sun. I placed it in my Alfalfa field. I had to cut a square in cardboard and coffee grounds bc I've been preparing this site for my roses. Ever since I came back from a (2) day visit at CA's Huntington rose garden I decided to group colors. I am constantly snipping my roses so I won't really be pressed to by new ones to fill in the lines. Melody has such a nice fragrance and a beautiful array of purples when she is in bloom.

It's getting harder to find. Use something that is copper based. It does the same thing.

There isn't much you can do outside of digging them up and planting them deeper. You can do that in late winter when you prune them. How old are the roses?
Paul, in one of your videos regarding covering an arbor with roses, you mentioned that it was a good idea to use several climbing roses. I have a white arbor and I live in zone 5, but I can't seem to find any roses that are tall enough to make it to the top of the arbor, which is like 10 or 12 feet tall. I'm not picky on the color, but I would like something that repeats and is hardy for our region. Any suggestions?
Your region makes it hard. I think New Dawn take your region. I'd give it a try.
I was going to ask if horse manure could be used and than Aussie (so) appeared! What kind of horse/pony/mini donkey is your 'compact' model. So cute. I always hear cow manure mentioned and just wondered what the difference could possibly be with horse manure.
He's passed now but he was a miniature mule. Funny little guy. He was a rescue. Any kind of manure works as long as it's composted. I just horse because we have lots of it.
To be honest I have no idea. I would try it and if it appears the rose is suffering you can always take it off.
If the leaves feel soggy you've over-watered. Give them tough love!

how the colored much could afect my roses ,meanning the chemicals that the paint contain?is that normal?

If they are old I wouldn't bother trying to replant. Just leave them as they are

Paul Zimmerman Roses just a quick question do the roses go back with new systems I'm asking because the one from last year is dead there are new stems and leaves growing on the side of the dead one
have you ever tried using tea as fertilizer on roses
I haven't. I would think tea leaves would help because it's compost but not sure about liquid tea.
I cut open some tea bags and put in a bowel of warm water then poured it around the roots so far so good I'm already getting blooms
I use vodka and also buried a big steak and i have more than 100flowers

I don't use that because it also kills bees and other beneficial insects.
