Paul Yandell had to be one of the most humble guys who has lived. His playing is about one of the nicest I've ever heard. He never stole the limelight, but he should have been in the limelight more. Beautiful piece here.

I've listened to Paul ever since he was a kid playing in Mayfield Kentucky on local radio there. Used to monitor Forrest and Paul working morse code on ham radio when Forrest was in Clear Springs, Ky and Paul was making music in Nashville. Both were ham radio operators. Forrest introduced me to ham radio as well. When I moved to Nashville Paul sold to me his Heathkit Apache transmitter...my first transmitter . Still have it and in good condition and won't ever part with it. Paul and Forrest good folks!

I was lucky enough to meet Paul (albeit very briefly) on the stage of Her Majesty's Theatre in London 1982 after Chet's concert there. He certainly was the perfect sideman for Chet, and probably remembered more of Chet's old tunes than Chet could muster up. He was very informative and always replied to questions fired at him on the Chetboard. He, Chet and Jerry (Reed) are greatly missed in this household.

Paul Yandell was as classy a gentleman as was his playing. Never met him face to face but had the privilege to exchange some emails with him. For someone of his stature, he was as down to earth and helpful as if he'd been my friend for years. Such generosity of spirit and massive talent are a combination we don't see much. He and Chet Atkins were a perfect match and it showed in their playing and the legacy they've left us.

So many false things going around on CZcams. Paul was my friend and a great guitarist. One of the greats.
This statement about Chet not doing concerts is false. Chet was playing concerts and a guy named Jerry Shook was playing guitar for him. Chet hired Paul after Paul quit working for Jerry Reed and they were inseparable for 25 years.
You people on CZcams need to do your research a little better.

After you've gone and left me crying, after you've gone - there's no denying
You'll feel blue - you're gonna be sad
You've missed the dearest pal that (slickest partner) you ever had
    There'll come a time - don't you forget it
(Yeah) There'll come a time - when you're gonna regret it
Some day when you get lonely
Your heart will break like mine - (and) you'll want me only.
After you've gone (split) - after you've gone away (flown the coop)
After we paid - our dues together
You should have stayed - through all that nasty weather
    Someday while you're feeling badly

Paul Yandell was the guitarist who made Chet Atkins sound Great. Nowhere in
Wikipedia could I find (on Chet's Biography), the Mention of The Great Paul Yandell !
Jerry Reed, Tommy Emmanuel, Les Paul, and others are all mentioned, but not
Paul Yandell ! Speaking for fingerstyle guitarists like myself, I think we could all see
behind the scenes, who the uncredited musicians are. Though I am far younger than
Paul, Chet, and the others, this style of Guitar is Best.

I think you are making up some dynamic in your mind that didn’t exist. Chet never kept Paul down. That seems to be the implication from all the posts by you I see on videos of Paul.
Chet made himself in 1947. Paul Yandell was a dear friend of mine and Chet were best friends and worked well together. Don’t make it out to be something it wasn’t. Paul was not uncredited.
