OH MY GOODNESS did you teach at BYU around 2014-2015? If so I took your ARTHC201 class! It was great! (Honestly, ARTHC202 with MM was lackluster in comparison, it was way less down-to-earth.) I met with you one time because I was preparing for a study abroad and had some questions about Moroccan art, and you were super nice about trying to help me even though the subject was out of your wheelhouse. Then when I went on my study abroad I saw a bunch of the artwork that we studied in class (at the Louvre/Orsay/etc. and in Athens at the NAM) and I almost emailed you a few pictures to be like "look! I learned things from your class! and now I appreciate the art more!". I also saw that viral TikTok and was reminded of my ARTHC class teacher because you both had similar energy (I would call it Stephen Colbert energy) and now I find out it WAS the same teacher? Crazy! Just want to say that I really liked your class and you definitely had an effect on my learning.

Yes he was Emperor, but it was Francis I of France.
Only reason I can "correct" that is because I'm working on a presentation
about it for the next week. Great video as always, very helpful.

I feel that Ingres Odalisques are a hat tip to Bronzino with the impossibly giraffe life but in the most graceful way possible proportions

Isn't Modigliani, the twentieth century French painter, a more modern example of Mannerist painting?

In the eros and venus piece, i dont believe that is eros back side but rather a figure bent over between eros and venus as they are engaged withe figure behind with the fruit

I actually got criticised and a bit bullied by other students at art school (in 1985) because in drawing classes all my stuff was too realistic - in other words, I could draw.
I didn't stick around for second year because I got offered a good job writing (my other talent) and I thought the teaching at art school was too slow.

Hmmm. I guess you don't like mannerism. There should not be any opinions from the lecturer ever. Your taste is not the world's taste. Did you even speculate that mannerism was a reaction to the perfection of the high renaissance that was as unachieveable and unseen in the world as the physique of the barbie doll is today? I have to wonder just how much reading you have done on this phase of art at all.
