I am diagnosed with schizophrenia. Iâm still a neophyte as of typing this, but earlier in my newness to the Church my parish life director suggested that I receive this sacrament because of my mental illness. The more I learn about this sacrament the more I come to believe in all the sacraments. It is so kind of God for us to be able to receive His grace, I have so much more strength in confronting my incurable disease. I canât believe that Jesus Christ through this sacrament actually lets me unite myself to His suffering, that absolutely amazes me!
Thank you for this. It helps me to understand more on this particular sacrament. đ
Glad it was helpful!

Can my 81 year old grandfather who has suffered from Afib and whose hospital stay has gone from 3 days to over a week thus far receive this sacrament? Iâm not sure if his illness is grave and id donât think he is near death- but, Iâve never seen sacraments and prayers hurt anyone?
Anyone can receive the anointing of the sick at anytime of illness, physical illness, mental illness and spiritual illness. Call the nearest Catholic Church near your grandfather and ask for the anointing of the sick. Set up the appointment with the priest. Youâve got this⊠wishing you and your family healing at this time.
Is this also why nurses are made?
