Wow, those backs are definitely awful. They remind me of the back of a 3M roll of tape or shelf paper. They look like the a manufacturer’s name label or something. I think the black sharpie is the best idea. You could edge it too and maybe the rough cutting won’t be so noticeable. I’m thinking spray paint will impregnate the paper and warp them. On the good side, I love the sort of antique look of the images with the black border. I like that the vintage and more modern images work well together. I have a strange love for vintage Humpty Dumpty images. I had these really old nursery rhyme flash cards as a kid and this deck reminds me of them. PS; I like hearing you talk about decks. 😊

36 cards :/ Backs remind me of the paper wrapping that reams of computer paper come in. But it's weird in a way that doesn't horrify me so that's a plus.
Some of these cards look like the pictures were taken from an old Mother Goose book my grandma had. It's Humpty Dumpty for sure on the first card. 😂 Maybe you could sand the edges with very fine sandpaper to even them up?
The deck had the potential for a more delicate, over easy approach, but looks like the fast and scrambled path was chosen: just the basics, and no side arcana or condiments. 🍳🥚⏲️ Sorry! Had to go with the egg innuendo, too 😆 The "Imposture" card...was that an intentional play on words? 🤔A fun concept for a deck! Egg shaped cards seem like they would be pleasing to hold, somehow. I am curious about how spraying card backs would go, since it takes a particular kind of patience (and time) to reback a deck!
