Presenting this video for all the trekkers on 'How to use a sleeping bag'.
I went on my first trek and I had no clue how to use a sleeping bag. In fact, I have a funny story to narrate also.
In this video, I am going to share some tips on how to get ready to use your sleeping bag correctly on a trek.
Also, I am sharing some personal tips with you to keep yourself warm. I have been following most of them for a long time and it has worked for me.
So next time when you go on your trek. You may try it.

Very useful video. Thanks for this. I have questions though. My Oct trek to Gidara is coming up. You mentioned IH provides the sleeping bag and liner.
1. Do they also provide the mat?
2. You mentioned sleeping bags are carried by mules or porters. Do we carry the liner+mat? This will help calculate the pack weight
3. For hygiene factor, do we get the same sleeping bag for entire trek duration?
4. Is this combo of mat+sleeping bag+liner enough for -10 degC? The historical temps of Raithal in Oct-2022 was in that range. I'm guessing Gidara campsites will be colder.
Would be grateful if IH or anyone who has traveled can answer.
1. Yes, we will be providing a rubber/foam mats for extra insulation.
2. Sleeping bags and mats will be carried buy mules/porter. Liners will be distributed at the basecamp. These liners are for hygiene purpose which also provides extra warm layer against cold.
3. At the base, you will be provided with the liner. This will be for your personal use thorough out the trek.
4. Yes, this combo is enough for the trek to Gidara Bugyal in the month of Oct. From your side, make sure to carry thermal and enough warm layers.
