- Our Fourth Annual Whistle Compilation is here and its our biggest yet! This video contains a wide variety of hooters, 3 chimes, 5 chimes, and 6 chimes heard across the Eastern United States. From the summits of Smoky Mountains, to deep within the Lehigh Gorge, and the quaint farmlands of the rural US, join along, as we recap all the whistles documented in 2021.

B&M 6 chime. Always a pleasure to hear one. Oh, and the NYC 5 chime on BR&W 60
B&M 6 Chime and 425's Reading 6 Chime are killer!
I definitely loved 192’s Crosby 3 chime!
New Hope 40's SP 6 Chime, RBMN 425's B&M 6 Chime, Reading 6 Chime, PRR 3 Chime from the Fall Foliage trips, Strasburg 90's Reading 6 Chime, Black River 60's GTW 6 Chime, and N&W 611's Hancock 3 Chime.

Steam trains. The great titans of industry that moved the world by storm. With thundering chuffs and the ghostly crys of a whistle these machines of wonder will never die.
My favorite whistle was 425’s PRR 3 chime! It just has a very angelic tone to it!
I love all ALCo 5 chimes! Beautiful whistles. That one on W&W 58 is wonderful!
Good vid Joe. My Fav whistles from this compilation are the ALCO 5 chime, shop built 3 chime, Crosby 3 chime(from 425), Hancock 3 chime, the 3 PRR 3 chimes(from 425), GTW 6 chime, Nathan 3 chime, V&S 3 chime, GC&E 5 chime, B&M 6 chime, (425's) Reading 6 chime, B&O tumor 3 chime, N&W 12 hooter, Nathan 5 chime, SP 6 chime, and lastly the NYC chime 5. I know it's a lot but it's hard to choose the best ones when there are too many to pick.
Some of these whistles would have sounded different back in the day. For example, NYC Hudson's had solenoids so the whistles were either on with full steam pressure, or off. No fancy quilling😞. IMHO that did give them a certain urgency (get out of the way!) consistent with those limiteds screaming down the track...

R&N 425 is like the MVP of whistles, they always slap a different whistle on it.
Been looking for video/audio of a C&O 3 chime for a while! This did not disappoint!! Lovely sounds. I can only imagine hearing it in person.
Happy Valentines Day Train Chamber. These are all beautiful and great whistles on these steam locomotives like the others.
It's a shame that 611's whistle sounds like it's drowning, cause I've always been a fan of those Hancock 3 Chimes. Regardless, my favorites from this batch are the GC&E 5 Chime, PRR 3 Chime, Reading 6, N&W Hooter, and the NYC 5 Chime. Realistically all of these whistles (minus 611's for the time being) are my favorites, but I was able to whittle them down to those 5 choices.
My absolute favorites are 14:34 that Boston and Maine 6 chime on the 425 and 24:04 the Southern Pacific 6 chime on the 40

I like the B&M 6 chime whistle for NYC Hudson 5406.
I wish Hudson 5406 is steamed again and the NYC is running on Amtrak of today.
