  • A recently purchased home in Boston’s historic South End had a nice kitchen, but it just didn’t fit. So we ripped it out and let the space and asthmatic speak to us as we worked together to build what is now a timeless two-tone kitchen with creativity and craftsmanship throughout.

    This channel is my new favorite. Binge watching it. Naturally very drawn into details and woodwork. As a DIYer, my biggest pet peeve has always been the details and how much of a perfection I could achieve in my own work. Being new here I don’t know much about the history of NS builders, but I just want to say that it’s amazing to see there are people on earth that care about achieving perfection. They also managed to build a business around that.

    • @tomruth9487
      @tomruth9487 Před 2 lety

      stephend, My exact thoughts. If that range hood sticks out 24" that's just too large of a box going straight up to the ceiling. It's also a lot of waisted space visually. It's not doing anything. If they wanted something more modern, a pull out hood would have done the job. Otherwise it's a great kitchen.

      Yes, looks amazing, but that will be not only be incredibly annoying to actually work in, but very fatiguing. A kitchen is a place to work, not merely hang out. The solid base next to floor WILL get kicked and scuffed up. Considering the thought and care these folks put into a project, including ergonomics, I don't get this. I would like to see this kitchen today, one year post build.

    • @tomruth9487
      @tomruth9487 Před 2 lety

      @@rla1000 Yeah, I feel the same as you. I've built kitchens with legs going to the floor for an old look. But to have no toe space at all is a mistake. I wouldn't want to get that phone call. I would try to talk the clients out of it if it was their idea.

    • @MagicznaPanda
      @MagicznaPanda Před 4 lety +1

      They called it "Servo-Drive" which is a name of a product that Blum makes. They have an entire system that allows you to have multiple drawers (for no-handle kitchens), but Ikea actually sells a "ready to go" version that's just fine for a bin cabinet.
      The soft-close on cabinets is most likely built into the door hinge. I'm not sure which company are they using, but Blum calls their version of soft-close "Blumotion". They also manufacture a limited range for Ikea. But there are many other options from Hettich, or GTV. And Ikea has a small range manufactured by Blum as well.
