  • Had a good evening with Bruce and Joan in Troy, NY and then headed to Brattleboro, VT to meet up with my friend Brian. On the way I went through Hoosick, NY, past the Big Moose Deli & Country Store with it’s moose and cow sculptures. The leaves are really starting to turn. Once I get to Brattleboro we go to the Saxton’s River Distillery and are disappointed as they don’t serve food this time of year. But… but, Brian does gift me a bottle of their Maple Infused Bourbon and I have to admit that it is smooth, smooth, smoooooth. I make it last til Christmas Eve. We end up at Fast Eddies for lunch before we spend the afternoon on the roads with the autumn leaves. By the end of the afternoon it has gotten cooler and damp. I decide I am not camping and in the search for inexpensive accommodations I book a room in Farmingham, NEW MEXICO not Farmingham, Maine. I do end up at the very pleasant Bethal Village Motel and have a bison burger at a crowded local pub where there is a solo entertainer with a guitar. Just as I am finishing my meal he does a nice rendition of Richard Thompson’s Vicent Black Lightning 1952… made my day and I dropped $10 in his jar before heading back to my lodgings where I burst some bubbles talking about the truth of the Oak Island Mystery.

I like the helmet cam best. It gives a better feel of the ride. I also get more exercise leaning in my seat as I watch.

The chin cam does get one better into the picture but I like to change things up a little. Having a 2nd camera running also helps if a battery dies or an SD card gets full. The trailer makes a nice steady filming platform as well.

I love the colours in NH, VT and ME that time of year. My uncle lives in the White Mountains, so from the time I was a kid, I got to spend lots of travels there, and in fact the first "long" distance trip I ever took was to there with my tent strapped to the back of my Kawasake LTD 440 back in the early 1980's. I was there again this past summer, but the Goldwing makes it an all together different ride. One certainly is that if you are riding in leaf peeping season, you either better be prepared to break the piggy bank or book VERY early on, which is not practical when taking it day by day like this. Glad you found some nice digs though eventually

It's a great area to ride in any time of the year but certainly special in the autumn. The motels and resorts take advantage of it. Rates almost double from early August. I was quite pleased with where I ended up and you'll hear a bit more of my evening there in the next travel video.

When you say bourbon I think of KY. I was born and raised there. For the most part. Dang!!! I love your videos I’m planning a summer on the road this year. Mostly the south east. Ain’t been to Fla. since I got caught up in a butt load of rain back in 2015. Who knows maybe we’ll meet up somewhere along the line. Just ordered a new mini mate. Ok I’m waiting on the information about the shipping locale. Hope to see ya on the road.

Vermont sure looked interesting and quite beautiful. Coffee is certainly a must and perhaps bourbon but not together? Just an FYI I installed a USB port in my left saddlebag that is hooked direct to the battery so I charge batteries while riding and parked. Never a dead camera, Perhaps a project for your new wing. I don't do the two finger wave, I have to do a three finger to be correct 🙂 Nice video, Thank for take us along.

@@OldGuyonaBike It's worth the trip if you can make it. Get your picture taken along the floodwall in front of the motorcycle mural. Right across the street is an old log cabin, and if the nice lady we met several years ago still lives there, she'll gladly give you a tour of her historical cabin and have you sign the guest book. Some dignitaries have been there. Around the corner is the oldest motorcycle club in America. The building is still used and I understand the chapter still meets there. Lots of history down there along the Ohio River.

"Intentions are always made...early in the day". Love that thought. Probably because it is true. Early in the day we look forward. Later in the day, we look back with sadness or even regret.
