    @Lurch-Bot Před 6 měsíci +2

    Just did a build with 5 ARGB fans running off one header. Stress tested it for a long time. No crashes. Aorus B450 Elite V2. I did split the PWM between 2 headers though. LEDs don't draw a lot of power compared to the fan motor. Maybe if you have those ring light ones with a dozen LEDs in it...But those don't really belong in a budget build because they are more expensive. I buy Thermalright ARGB fans. About $15 after tax for 3 and they move more air and are quieter than Lian Li fans that sell for around $70 for three. Expensive stuff is for people who wrongly believe spending more money gets you a better product. You can buy a BMW or Mercedes. Won't be any more reliable than a Camry and will be way less efficient. I drive a Mk IV Jetta (Bora) VR6. It is an objectively better car than an entry level 3 series and was several grand cheaper.
    The 1 star rating is because people buy this thinking it is an ARGB controller. Some controllers are hubs but not all hubs are controllers.

    • @mikesunboxing
      @mikesunboxing  Před 6 měsíci

      it says hub in the title & thumbnail, and i said it was a hub. i explained it wasn't a controller. 1 star is harsh

    Hi, Mike. Personally, I've come to like six pin ARGB Fan controllers because they only have a single wire for both FAN and ARGB. That makes for neater cable managing.

      This is kind of useless IMO. If you have ARGB you want to address your fans LEDs. not give them all the same signal. That's why we moved away from RGB to get into ARGB. With this kit you are only getting 1 affect on all your fans rather than 1 affect passing through all your fans.

    what you mistaken is that this item is not POWERED ARGB hub, its just splitter. You can connect 128 leds maximum in total. i found that the hard way, i connected 2 strips of 128 leds and it started to flicker and strips exploded as well as argb port on motherboard z790 is fried. so sata power is for powering the fans, not rgb. So i found out that this hub works the same as rgb splitter cable. so it was useless for me.

Simple device, but extremely useful if you require lots of RGB. I guess you could get a fan hub too (if required). “Cheap and cheerful” as a wise man once said! I hope it doesn’t catch fire?!? 😂

    Hi Mike.
    Like the videos, interesting and informative, keep up the good work.
    I’d like to share with you and YT viewers something I recently discovered with ARGB hubs that may help if experiencing problems with.
    I discovered with my PC when connecting such hubs to the computer’s PSU my PC wouldn't start after fitting. After a lot of time checking and testing it turned out it was my motherboard make and design that was the issue.
    I’ve tried the hub in your video, and a couple of other makes, and all replicated the same problem of my PC failing to start with a hub connected to the PSU. Disconnected from the PSU no problems, disconnected from the ARGB header on the MB no problems.
    Seems that some motherboard makes / designs don’t like having 5v supply going onto the ARGB headers from a cable connected to it. Once I found what the problem was my solution was to use a two pin cable I made up to connect my hub to the ARGB header on my MB, thus removing the 5v supply from MB’s header going to the hub and of course preventing 5v from the hub going to the header.
    ARGB hubs powered by a PSU like the one in this video only need to receive ARGB signals from the MB to work and not any power from.
    I’d have thought all ARGB powered hubs would have been designed in such a way to prevent voltage flow back to the MB header by incorporating either a dedicated MB socket on the hub or a cable for this purpose, from my experiences and testing this apparently is not the case.

    • @mikesunboxing
      @mikesunboxing  Před 8 měsíci +1

      they need the active 5v to provide enough power for the connected LEDs a motherboard header power alone won't be enough and you will burn out the motherboard controller if overloaded
