  • Both this camera body and lens is not without their quirks, but there's something about them that is undeniably fantastic. Watch this second and last half of the photo walk from two years ago when I took them out to a nearby foresty area to try them out.
PART ONE - in case you missed it: • Taking the ZENIT ET in...

I love these episodes! If anything, the pics are just "dreamy". Sharp focus is so.... 2023! My Helios 44M is a bit hit and miss wide open as well.
A video every 7 days?! I wish. I'm on a 14 days schedule and just about making it... Your subs are gonna grow quickly with that frequency....
And finally - what are the chances? I am getting my Canon FD 85mm 1.8 tomorrrow! ... If the courier delivers on a Saturday... However, mine is the nFD (SSC implied, but not mentioned on the lens). Can't wait to try it out.

Hahaha, well said! 😂 But seriously, thanks so much man, I really, Really appreciate that!!
Yes, well.. I've already completed and scheduled the weekly videos until early June, thinking that'd give me enough time to make 10 or so more.. but I'm already falling behind. Frequent uploads are tough, hey!
Wow that's a weird coincidence about the 85, and very awesome! Hopefully you'll get great use of it. Looking forward to seeing a video about yours, which I'm guessing is in the pipeline? :) I absolutely love mine. Cheers mate!

I guess you could grab a rangefinder attachment and try dialling the distance in that way. 😂 Or treat it as a zone focusing camera.

Zenits have this way of getting under your skin. I use EM's and a couple of 12XP's (with the inbuilt light meters) and love them.

Yes I have to agree. I can't really explain it, the ET is probably the less interesting camera in my collection, but every time I open the camera cabinet it's like it's calling to me.. I need to try it out one more time with a different lens I think. Cheers!

Definitely give the 44m-4 a go, I’ve been happy with it. IQ is actually pretty nice and reasonably sharp with some good lighting.

The photo with the white artifiacting looks like it could be a light leak in the camera body

That was my initial thought as well, but I don't think I've ever seen light leaks with this much of a pattern and complete lack of color? It's more visible in last weeks video. But I'm certainly no expert in this particular area, so you may absolutely be right. I'll see about replacing the seals and hope for the best. Thanks for commenting!

@@qvarfoto did you check if it's your fingers? I have a Yashica Mat-124 G and my grubby phalanges often find themselves pushing into frame. From the video, it looks like your knuckle or finger may have just peeked in for that vintage 1980s dad-finger effect, present in many family photo albums on our shelves
