  • Beedrill is one of my favorite Pokémon, but is it good at battling? Not really. How fast can I beat Pokémon Crystal with it?

    I just wanna point out that you do this hilariously quickly compared to me, and I've done like 200 of these
    Awesome job!

      Aaaa, thank you!!! I think part of the reason your videos are longer because you're quite thorough in explaining your thought process as well as explaining what is going on and how you overcome certain obstacles. It makes for very good content that can be enjoyed with or without actually being able to see the video itself, and it is also good as a guide for other people to try your challenges. You clearly have a lot of fun with your runs, and that is always nice to watch.
      Which, uh, speaking of which, a very long time ago, you inspired me to do an Emerald run with Wynaut after I saw your Wobbuffet video from way back when. Unfortunately, I couldn't get through the Elite Four without evolving, and defeating Wallace as a Wobbuffet was incredibly lucky (I had to start the battle paralyzed to avoid toxic, and I had to dodge two leech seeds in a row - a 1% chance, and even that wasn't a guarantee). Since then, I've been doing lots of solo challenges in various games in my spare time just for the fun of it (most of them don't even get recorded). So, thank you for that.

      @@SnowyTotodile That's awesome! And I'm sure a Wynaut challenge would be insane. Going into the fight already paralyzed then having to hope for leech seed misses takes an unreal amount of attempts, I can relate to that struggle.
      You've got a great editing style and the way you present stuff is really fun! I hope you keep doing CZcams, you'll do really well at this

    Love the concise videos. I watch other pokemon runs which are longer, but this gives me a streamlined version I didn't know I needed.

    3:34 is such a clean way too edit in trainer fights! It's very pleasing to the eyes to quickly understand your progress!
    Fairly clean video, though I think it would have been good to mention that you specifically went with a Beedrill that would have Hidden Power Ground - I think that was a bit tricky to directly interpret from the moveset analysis at the start.
    I also wonder why you went for real time instead of in-game time? Is there a particular reason for that?

    • @SnowyTotodile
      @SnowyTotodile  Před rokem +1

      Aaa, thank you!!!! Also, hmm, I thought I mentioned the hidden power type early on, but I guess I didn't! Good catch.
      As for real-time, if I solely went for in-game time, then soft resets wouldn't affect the Pokemon's time, since the game only records the game time when you actually save. This would give Beedrill a huge advantage if it did poorly (luckily it didn't, but still!).
      Also, I'm playing the game at 4x speed (which is a bit typical of solo runners), and if you slowed it down to 1x, you would see me spending a lot of time not doing anything, since it'd be my processing time also slowed down 4x.
      That said, I believe I did give the in-game time as a secondary metric. And of course, I am certain that, if I played Beedrill at 1x speed, it'd be considerably faster in-game.

    • @SnowyTotodile
      @SnowyTotodile  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Aaa, sorry for the late response! I must've missed this. Anyway, personally, I love Hidden Power!
      Sure, I could just use strong Pokémon like Mewtwo or Suicune and breeze through the whole game without needing to use any TMs at all. Then I would never need to use Hidden Power, Rest, Return, Curse, etc. because the Pokémon already has everything it needs without any external help.
      Or I could run a weaker Pokémon like Beedrill, use Hidden Power, and not spend an eternity grinding for Jasmine due to the bad experience curve, resulting in a time that, while not amazing, also wasn't needlessly dragged out because I decided to make arbitrary rules that made the run slower rather than challenging.
      Oh, and, yes, I did try Beedrill without Hidden Power as a practice run before doing this run. Without it, the Jasmine fight was incredibly inconsistent, requiring good poison and critical hit luck as well as a ton of extra grinding.
      Which, hey, if you actually think that soft resetting in front of a single trainer until the "One Thing" happens is exhilarating, that's pretty cool! Go do a run like that and let me know how much fun you had~
