I've watched this at least 10 times. I never tire of watching James Galway
I've seen him twice. Once like this. Piano & Flute. He filled the hall with his sound. The 2nd time with an orchestra & his wife.. Again his sound filled the hall. He took 4 encores. He didn't want to stop playing. He loves what he does.
BRILLIANT. I wish more flutists these days had more distinctive sounds. Back in the 80's I could tell my favorites just by there tones.
Started playing flute just 6 months ago and I love every second of it. I just found out about this guy and...wow...what an inspiration. This man is just awe inspiring.
His Showpieces LP was the reason I started learning the flute at age 10.
I hope you are still playing and getting better and better every day.

i performed this my junior year of high school and it will remain to be one of my favorite pieces of all time. of course i do not even begin to compare to the elegance and amazing skill of galway. phenomenal performance. he is my greatest inspiration.

Played by few other flutists the beautiful and delicate piece turned to be just a scale exercise. When Sir James Galway plays this piece he sings! Very stylistic and delicate performance with all the beautiful nuances that turn a piece of music from a collection of notes into a marvelous master piece. Thank you for your great talent!

I think that if I took a look at that sheet music, my mind would explode.
Its really not as hard as it sounds. I played it once and when you got the tonguing patterns and fingers under control, its pretty easy.
Yeah this piece is not too hard, but to play as fast as him needs a lot of practice

rien que la première mesure et on est vite fixé. Quelle magie, quelle magie ce James ! Avez-vous remarqué comment il lie certaines notes ? Il fait presque couiner sa flûte juste un petit peu pour donner l'impression de la liaison un peu comme Bourdin. C'est merveilleux et terriblement difficile. Remarquez comme Sir James est à l'aise, remarquez aussi le jeu du pianiste, tous les deux parlent échangent avec leur instrument. C'est du grand art !

I've heard this piece before but I didn't know what it was called until Gina Luciani played an excerpt of it on her latest video. Galway is not my favorite flutist to listen to but I've always admired him for his technique
I think there are other videos from this concert that identify it as a recital he did in Ireland. His La Flute De Pan videos I believe.
