I Got Stoned and I Missed It: The Best from Shel Silverstein 1971-1979
Dr. Hook & the Medicine Show
Dustin Hoffman is heard at the beginning as this song was from his movie "Who is Harry Kellerman and Why is He Saying Those Terrible Things About Me?" That monologue leads into this song. via Keath Graham
"There was a time
that I was planning
to live forever,
but I find it necessary
to change those plans.
Yours,
Very Truly,
George Raymond Soloway" - Hudba
They belong in the rock and roll hall of fame
how can we make this happen
@@MsJanice316 I have tried - got up a petition but nothing happens - I have emailed them even
I think we need to contact the Hall of Fame and let them know that we the People want this to Happen. Let's make it happen.
My Comfort food when I am down always tune in too DR. HOOK god I love these guys always make me happy
fan from day 1. Drove my family nuts, my son loves them
Whichever one is singing, the very reason Dr. Hook touches so many of us is because you can hear the heart and true emotion in their voices. They don't have the classic idea of a "pretty" voices but the feelings that their voices have and bring out in each of us is nothing short of magic.
Mine too I love these Guy's
Dennis L. is singing this song of course Ray Sawyer is backing him up. God bless you
@@denisehedden5108 Ray is singing this. There is a video with Dennis singing it here on CZcams. I can't believe you can't tell them apart! Dennis is nowhere on this recording.
I'd never heard of Dr. Hook but I encountered this song through the film Who is Harry Kellerman and Why Is He Saying Those Terrible Things About Me? It's really stuck in my head and I've listened to it innumerable times. I especially love the part where they sing: "This is the tough cold city here..."
Very well said, it's what we all feel when we listen to pure genuine emotion.
My good friend from the US Army turned me on to Dr Hook, this was the song we blasted in the barracks the day we ETSs😁
🥀Beautiful Song amazing lyrics, vocals music and of a broken man in a bad way. Sometimes in life we get to a point where everything is wrong about our lives then we have to let go of the obstacles in our lives. I love this song & it's on 1 of my album I bought in the 70s it's priceless. 🥀☝️🥀
They great group I wish it was still singing today
These guys are pure genius. ..
I blasted this song for the landlord the day I stopped renting and bought my own place. One of the best days of my life. Last thing I put in the truck was my record player and Sloppy Seconds.
such a great song by shel siverstein.
for my DAD he was just a simple mechanic but a great human being....
Yes I enjoy Dr. Hook Just close your eyes and listen
This song and Life aint easy are my two all time favourite songs, I actually sang this with Dennis Locorriere one time many years ago at a record signing!!!!
Dennis Locorriere has to be the sexiest man on earth. Definately Dennis singing lead.
I'm a life long fan
Brilliant, as is Who is Harry Kellerman, a brilliant film of brilliant moments. Great Soundtrack.
This sounds like a different version than I normally find. Neat.
Haven't heard this recording of the song... TOP quality...
Great video Awesome job Great song it's Beautiful!🕸🎤🕸🎸🕸💓🕸✌
What a Voice...Great
this is still a favorite
This song means a lot to me, when I came back from Nam and the people treated my like SHIT I thought I was going to go back home. But I was lucky my ex and my friends got me into the VA for help
Thank you for your service, brother.
glad you made it home
Thank you.
Thank you ..!
I'm late on the comment, but God bless you and your selfless act of bravery on behalf of our country.
🥀Beautiful Sad Song! This is one of the best of Dr Hook I ever heard it's so different but and sounds like the one talking at the beginning really meant these word's. I love this song & These Guys🥀✌🥀☝️
i loved there music when they first came out and even so now ive got all there albums ill take them with me when i go .
I left the city years ago. Now it has caught up with me again. Nowhere left to hide, I guess Life Ain't Easy.
I was alone on my hill when I built my cabin. Now the neighbors complain my lack of plumbing devalues the neighborhood. "Its a tough cold city here..."
mbola tena tsara foana. misaotra dr. hook
🥀WOW🥀Dennis Locorriere did a remarkable job on on the lyrics and so did Ray Sawyer on back up vocals these Guy's are Amazing I didn't know that this was Dusin Hoffman at the beginning before the song started that's wild. It's a Powerful sad song it's beauty of all is the Guys were Underrated all there lives! Make me mad I don't mind saying what I believe in huh! I love this song🥀✌🥀☝️
When it's my Last Morning, and I go Home ... fire up a joint, crack a cold beer, and play this version of this song. I'll smile with you, wherever I am.
Rip you sexy pirate man; Ray Sawyer!
Dustin Hoffman is heard at the beginning as this song was from his movie "Who is Harry Kellerman and Why is He Saying Those Terrible Things About Me?" That monologue leads into this song.
So revelant when enough is enough
one doesnt need to analyse the singer!!! just enjoy the song>>>dr hook didnt get what they deserved:-) beauty lives on...they are the near best
very true
I love this song it's so amazing
🥀Amazing Song I've always loved this but I'm not getting the true story behind it I don't think...I love this song and these Guy's🥀✌🥀☝️
I didn't realize this recording for "Who Is Harry..." soundtrack was different from the version I've been listening to all these years.
maninblack24 I am pretty sure this was recorded after the band broke up in 1985...OR it could be from Ray's solo country album. But yeah you can tell something is "missing" from this recording.
I think its whatever you need or want it to mean For me the night my Dad let go of life after a year of cancer Not a sad song xx
just watched this and saw your comment hope you"re doing ok
Jenny Perrio glad it brought some peace
🥀Sorry for your loss my thoughts and Prayers are with you all🥀
Cool
@dyonus I think it was Dennis on the lead vocal on this. Ray sang the backup, notably on the chorus. Dennis has more soulful voice and it can be heard clearly here. Ray voice has more country feel that you can hear clearly in the chorus.
🥀2020 and I still listen to these Guy's🥀✌
2022 still listening
I can't put to words what The song Carrie Me Carrie. They played exactly what my mother Joanie Bologna yep special and unique. But way to much drama for a lady who had no interest in it now pour us ( Terrible Terry Besties ) a drink hehe. This song puts a pierod to the sadness, miss you Joanie bologna, and Terrible Terry , I'm going to say rest in peace Together again as friends... Love Your Daughter.
Hi Dyonus.
This is theme music to the movie Who is Harry Kellerman, Starring a very young Dustin Hoffman.
Dustin Hoffman is speaking first, them this lovely version of "Last Morining." Lead vocal by Dennis, with good backing of Ray.
My rockstars
T here's one in our future.
Do you believe that two songwriters can express the same feelings in parallel songs? check out Kristofferson's song "Just the Other Side of Nowhere" and see what you think.
Excellent tune. I think Dennis & Ray took turns singling lead as well. Who care though - it is awesome.
Very well said
Love Dr. HOOK
We all have one.
dennis can outsing anybody
@FreakersBall thanks for filling me in!
soo true jed
Things suck so much today I would gladly wear those "greasy overalls" , we exported our economy.
All but one.
Thanks! I have verified this and will modify the notes.
life gets tedious don't it?
Dennis Locorriere singing,i promise
🥀Why does this sound like the man talking gave up on life? It bothers me I feel lost for words🥀✌🥀☝️
@gttdkt yes they do :)
this song is not about suicide, it is simply saying things are not working here for me and i am going back to a place that is familiar to me. going home is a big part of this song, not i am leaving or something. it really is just i am going home now.
says you
Tim Clark ...well your OPINION does not make it fact ......did you see the movie?
jpavlekovich sorry but going home seems to mean going to Heaven
no
Tim Clark. it's like your opinion dude
They never made it big as they deserved
Could be tomorrow.
These guys must have been hank Williams fans somewhere down the line
Who isn't :)
I think Dennis and Ray took turns singing lead.
Im wrong. Ray is singing lead on one verse.
is this actually dr hook singing? (dennis and ray) ? ? or is this shel singing? or a cover?
love it
So sad and so true
Does this recording go with this lp? Cuz there is another recording which is MUCH MUCH BETTER🤔
You're absolutely right on. I noticed it right away. I'm presuming it's an outtake from the original album recording sessions. It's easy to see why they chose the other version, though it was good to run across this one as well.
This is not as good as the other version.
what version is that?
sdibaja The one with Ray and Dennis both singing and Dennis doing what he does with his voice.....
don't know that one... got a link?
This is the original
WTF was that crap in the beginning ?
Dustin Hoffman
