I did like the story mode. But I didn't like how they lied about it. I remember they advertised the story as you're going to play as the Empire. Yes, you play as the Empire, but only for two missions and the rest you play as the rebellion. That is the part that really annoys me.
Yes, exactly, this is exactly why I dislike this campaign, I hate her defection, it makes no sense other than the fact that Disney ( or EA or Dice) didn't have the guts to make a bad guy story. And If you say it's because Operation Cinder destroyed her home, that doesn't make any sense either. It's just bad writing. I would of preferred a gritty story about a ruthless Imperial spec ops squad that shows the fall of the Empire and the more brutal sides of the war.
@@Acererak0912 I mean, technically it _is_ because Operation Cinder destroyed her home, but it's not consistent. Especially considering what, a couple months at most earlier, she was talking about how "This is where the Rebellion dies" or somesuch. AND she's Special Forces. One would think Special Forces were even more devoted to the Emperor/Empire more than the typical trooper. That's what I hate the most about the campaign. Everything before Operation Cinder was pretty great, then they went and pulled the bait & switch on us.

Bill Burr's performance in The Mandalorian where they refer to Operation Cinder, and the pain in his facial expressions. You know what the operation was about from the game, and seeing Bill's character remember what he must have experienced just hints to a darker side of those events than what we saw in the BF2 campaign. I love the hinting to the tragedy of it all, and wish there was a campaign where you had more direct impact with Operation Cinder.

Yeah, that was pretty cool. Now what really needs to happen is they should create a movie or show to the point that it could eventually make Jedi: Fallen Order and Survivor canon. I mean they've pretty much already made Battlefront II canon. Why not Fallen Order and Survivor?

The cutscenes were pretty great. I think the main purpose of the story mode was to serve in place of a tutorial. Before they updated it, the move set was applicable to the main game. And I donât think playing as heroes was a corporate decision. If story mode is a tutorial, then itâs valuable to play as some of the heroes too.
The campaign is honestly fine. Like I honestly have good memories playing it but it's really not something to write home about.

The story was good, but the fact that this was advertised as a game about the Empire's perspective then it only gives you three missions where you fight for the Empire was such a let down. Atleast go back before the Battle of Endor to show more of Idens story, giving an opportunity to show the cracks in the Empire before giving Iden multiple reasons to question the Empire, while also making Operation Cinder feel way more impactful and heart breaking than it was. Operation Cinder would be more of a final straw for Iden and Del because it targeted the people loyal to the Empire, going against the very people they were supposed to protect. We didn't see that until Operation Cinder. This campaign had so much potential.
Honestly, I come back to this campaign from time to time just for a bit of entertainment. Wish they would have done more with this game/campaignđą

What's unbelievable is that in Canon the Empire was defeated in one year on Jakku that this game shows. What IS believable is that in Legends it took 15 or so years for the Empire to stop fighting the New Republic and come to an accordance.
Basically, realism should be implemented at least half of the time in Star Wars stories.
I miss the true Emperor and his Imperial Knights.
And the empire was never fully defeated in Legends, they just signed a treaty with the new republic. I wish the idiots at Disney kept at least the EU up to the Vong and then retold Jacen and Jaina's story to be more about the unifying force.
The Empire was defeated so easily b/c of Operation Cinder and all the actual competent imperials being ushered to the unknown regions (to become the First Order) by pre-placed Sith Eternal Attendants. What's actually unbelievable is that the Rebellion figured it was nothing.

That wasn't just a "mean" decision, that was also just dumb they literally lost money by pulling away from battlefront 2 and trying to save a dead battlefield game.
31:48 wasn't in the game yet. (and no not part of DLC it was part of *promised* live service updates, which they only partially delivered on because it was cancelled before they could finish it.)
The campaign is my favorite part of this game. The story isn't great, but I love single player action adventure games, so it was still very fun. It gives Battlefront a canon purpose rather than just repeatedly shooting and dying over and aver again.
Iâve heard the complaints about her turning to the rebellion too soon. I think they did this so you had the same kind of experience playing both sides that you do in the main game. It all comes back to it being a tutorial for me. đ
They couldnât add coruscant or big city planets because of memory issues but they add in vardos and never make it playable in multiplayer which is one reason I get angry when I replay the campaign
"The game doesnt feel like battlefront" but when they add features that make the campaign more like battlefront its "corporate" and there to sell copies.
Andrew contradicts himself a lot but this was arguably the most annoying bit for me
i love how visually stunning the game is, and I actually don't mind the missions with the OG heroes, I especially love the Luke one. Overall I think its a neat little experience for if you want to kill some time. But I do agree that it would've been nicer to have Iden stay and Imperial for longer.

If you get all the way to the AT AT on Vardos without killing any stormtroopers ( Or very little, I did this a while ago) del says something along the lines of âthat was gracious, not killing themâ
From what I know 500k people were on the 1st Death Star and the 2nd one is 8 times bigger but half finished so that means roughly 4 million people just died in that scene

what makes it worse is because the deathstar 2 was still in contruction most of the people that would have died would have been maitenece and builder crew which as shown from the other shows mostly were forced labour
Honestly the stealth droid part I kinda like; cause it makes me think of doing recon in 2005 Battlefront 2 with the probe you control as a Galactic Marine or Magnaguard.
I always found it funny and weird that the Wookie Warrior for the Rebels had that. I mean, it's a walking tank, yet it gets the tiny probe droid that is not that helpful in my opinion

The Inferno Squad novel gives a lot of interesting backstory into Iden's childhood, and sets up a lot of what we see in the game.
I always have played on PlayStation, but from what I know the resurrection DLC didnât cost me anything

As far as the single player goes, I wish they had developed the card system into the characters when you play them. But it was very hated at the time. But, man, Takodana as Han is hard without the combat roll ability that he should have been given.

I always was of the opinion that the multiplayer need more elements of the campaign and I was disappointed that many of the assets and mechanics of story mode was never in the multiplayer, it's why I loved (Whenever I could) to play galactic march, it felt like it was more than just capture the flag and felt like it had some of the campaign magic.

Also check out the inferno squad book. I think youâll love it especially if you love stuff like rogue one and Andor and Idenâs character is well written. It takes place just shortly after episode four - it may be really care about Iden as well. The audiobook is narrated by her voice actor!

Going into the story with that attitude, no wonder you can't enjoy it for what it is. I'm not saying it's a great story and great gameplay but it's not gonna get any better by going into it like that.
I do agree that the Switch to rebels is a bit fast and it would have been interesting to see it more from the Imperial view. We did get more of that in Star Wars Squadrons but that's a very different game, not for everyone.
My favorite vehicle was in the story too. You said All Terain Armored Transport and I perked up some
space to ground was acived in the psp battlefront games, they even had air battles yes there was a very short loading screen but it was all in the same match, so you had ground combat into high atmosphere and then full on space with capital ships all in same match
I really enjoyed the story mode and DLC. I just wish they continued making something like more DLCs continuing the story of Del and Iden's daughter. I mean at the end of the DLC, it kind of leaves you on a cliffhanger.
Them flipping the script and turning Iden Versio into a Rebel by MISSION 3 is such a waste. Grow some balls and give us an Empire Perspective

Personally, I really like the stealth parts of the game. Even when Iâm online, often times I find myself sneaking behind enemy lines to gain an advantage. I think that shit is fun

I think 2 more missions wouldâve been ideal, both imperial. Have one right after Endor where everyoneâs still super gung-ho about the empire, one where everyoneâs like âok this is getting kinda sketchyâ and THEN the vardos space and ground missions.
Iâm not saying âwow, theyâre slaughtering my homeworldâ isnât enough to turn someone, but for the sake of the story, we really needed to see Iden really supporting the empires actions until âok this one is too farâ

TBH I love the campaign when I was younger. (At least the first part) I just wished they made the multiplayer in a similar sense, like you were saying so much content that was in the campaign wouldâve made multiplayer that much better.

Honestly, I enjoyed the campaign, the story was like a 6 but the gameplay and mission design felt more like an 8 for me. Fun to play, could care less why Iâm doing what I am.

I tried to do as many of the missions stealth as I could and loved it. It felt like the game wasn't prepared for all out stealth so I made quite a few exploits

I recently replayed this aswell and I really enjoyed it. Of course, it is very different to the rest of the game, but I don't mind, since different does not mean bad and I really enjoyed the story and the bit of stealth. I apreciate the game for being the only visual media to show the fall of the empire. The only better representation of the empire's fall is the aftetrmath trilogy, but unfortunately a lot of fans don't read the novels... (Also the prequel novel is a fine addition to my collection, since it makes me care more about the characters in the game)
All the people praising the story either have nostalgia which is fair, or have never played OG battlefront 2 501st journals

The story was fine. I wish theyâd updated it as they updated the main game, ie rolling etc. Also wish Hot Toys had done an Iden figure. I liked playing as her in the main game.
I would have liked to see more of Iden and a slower turn. The battle of Jakku and epilogue stuff is interesting.
