Fragments of sileceous rock, limestone and dolomite waste rejected in the lead-zinc milling operations that accompanied lead-zinc mining in the first half of the 20th Centry. Such is the definition of a Chat Pile, but it is also
a noise-rock/sludge metal act from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. God's Country, the debut album from Chat Pile sees them taking a concerned look at the history of their own home-town, and push out an incredibly filthy and rough-around-the-edges album experience that chugs along with such ferocity. It's all so miserable and full of horror, both literal horrors from this decaying world around us, and existential horrors (maybe from watching too many horror films...). All in all, an incredible debut release that is taking the scene by storm. In today's episode, we dive into each and every song on this phenomenal yet uncomfortable debut effort.
