  • Welcome to another video!
This is the latest installment of The Halcyon Days series and in this video our main focus are the ever-dependable London Midland and Scottish Railways 5MT locomotives, numbered 44871 & 45407 'The Lancashire Fusilier', owned by Ian Riley.
The locomotives double-headed the Tin Bath from Preston to Sheffield, via Chinley on the outward leg and via Penistone on the return.
Our first point of call is Crows Nest Junction where the line from Wigan to Bolton divides into two routes, one via Atherton and the other, via Bolton where the tour was routed.
In-keeping with the rest of the series, we had mainline steam but this time we had a pair of vintage military vehicles running alongside the tour. Unfortunately at the moment we were filming the military vehicle shot at Chinley, the heavens opened and so the camera lens was quickly flooded.
Not to worry! We still carried on and got to hear yet more Black 5 power with their departure from Wigan 40 minutes behind schedule.
Hope you enjoy, don't forget to like, share and subscribe!

It was yet another great Tin Bath for me, always special.
Thanks for sharing the clips, I did notice the two vehicles as in the past, as we passed.
