  • Leanne had a high-stress career with long hours when she started feeling fatigued all the time. After a cough and abdominal pain led to a series of doctor's visits, she was eventually diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. However, it took her two years to get the diagnosis and greatly impacted her mental health.
In this conversation, she voices the toll her diagnosis had on her, how she found help and support and how she eventually became cancer-free.

Enjoyed this honest account, including the idea that a cancer diagnosis is a good time to take stock of your life

Congratulations on your recovery journey, your life patterns leading up to the diagnosis are very familiar to me, however I wish I had the support you have experienced, such is life in NZ.

right on. find people to support you and people who do not support you, let them go. find new friends, find new hope, find new information. be your own best advocate. be your own best friend. i have neuropathy for five years in feet due to chemotherapy from 5 years ago, the nerve damage is strained, your nerves are not damaged, but they are "injured". the neuropathy can lessen in time. The nerves are not damaged, hopefully the neuropathy can be reduced somewhat as the years go by. A chiropractor told me this.

Thank you! I’m doing ok. Doing lots to help myself - Vedic meditation 20 minutes twice a day; Pilates reformer classes, cold water immersion (swimming in the ocean and local river) and saying no to things that don’t fill me with joy! I have some wonderful trips planned this year too. I still need lots of down time to recharge but am feeling good.
