- Decided it was time to put the old girl to work, Grossing 98,000 lbs and handled it well. little rusty on the sticks, first time pulling a load other than off the field. Definitely a fun drive hope to do more with it soon.

LISTEN UP ROOKIES!!!! THIS MAN UNDERSTANDS THE 2 STROKE GOVERNOR BOX AND THE AUXILIARY TRANSMISSION!!! THEY DONT TEACH THIS IN SCHOOL THIS IS TAUGHT BY BLOOD!!!! HE DOESNT OVER WIND UNDER AND DIRECT AND HE DOESNT TOP OUT THE BOX. THIS IS ART IN MOTION COUPLED WITH EXPERIENCE!!!! STUDY THIS VIDEO CAREFULLY CHILDREN!!!!!
If you are paying attention, he never actually "double clutches." If you do it right, you only use the clutch to start and stop. The rest is done by feathering the throttle to match the rpm to the gear and the feel of the stick.
Man it’s super cool to see a twin sticking two stroke with some good weight behind her!! Thanks for the ride along buddy, some day I want to have my own twin stick!
I just feel bad for drivers that had to drive these truck up hills and in traffic 😬
This man never once used that clutch to shift while moving. Quite entertaining to watch you float a twin stick. I can hear you bringing the rpms up on the engine to match the gear. You're a freakin wizard
I will be grinning for days now...seeing a young guy outdo us rusty older guys. THANK YOU so much for keeping this alive.
it's weird to hear a guy complain that to make any power you have to "rev the guts out" all the way to ...1800rpm
I used to drive a Mack R700 with a Detroit 8V92 we got from an old Greyhound it was the T/S engine turbo supercharged it had injectors and intakes mods with a switch blade turbo .. a Big one ...I recovered countless roll overs of heavy equipment and lots of dry vans . When they mad me take the New Top kick I was let down even with the wheel lift ..
I'd love to see an 8V92 retro fitted to a 379 or even a 389! Maybe with a 13 or 18 speed attached to it! I bet it would sound just as good! Who knows...
defiantly can't mistake the sound of a 2 stroke detroit for anything else 👍
The Peterbilt 359 is by far one of my favorite old school tractors. I'm also a huge fan of the old school cabover tractors. Like The Kenworth K100 an The old school White Frightliner cabovers. Also The Peterbilt 362's. They sure don't make them like they use to. Those where real trucks. Not the BS that they produce today. Love The Pete 359 Bubbles8V92.... Awesome Tractor
That's the way to do it, brings back great times movin 120 t heavy around Aus outback, my head is counting every rev, ready for the next shift, I've a Hardon listening to that Jimmy, and I'm now 80 and retired, but wish I wasn't.
That 8v92 sounds good.
I wish old school engines and trucks made a come back
this guy is one damn good driver! you cant find guys this young that know these old trucks!
The unmistakable sound of an old 2 stroke Detroit. Neat video!
Sound of a 92 over a cat any day, thank you.👍🏻
That's awesome used to drive my brother's 8v92 silver hauling logs and grain can't beat that sound 😀
Thirty years ago I drove a Mack twin stick Mack after driving a 10 and 13 speed tractors & Bobtails. The auxiliary was opposite. It took me time to get learn. Going uphill was a challenge especially if I forgot which gear I was in or missed a gear and had to pull to the side and start all over. Your shifting is smooth and awesome compared to other videos I’ve seen. I’ve asked drivers today if they’ve driven twin sticks and none have. At least I had this experience and still could do it if there is a tractor with twin sticks.
very nice, thank you for posting. I got here reminiscing about a load of logs I rode along to go get, some firewood out of the mountains of Washington state. The truck owner/operator was from my little town.
