Honestly speaking,what Pj says here makes perfect sense because in this paticular case, Disney had Bought the rights to those charecters (not just get permissions from their creators) therefore the case lies in their favour however only time will tell the outcome of this case.

What goes around comes around. Disney was always known for harshly treating their comic creators and not paying them enough. Although in this situation, Disney is right. It's their character, they paid for the work.

I think that the creators should be paid a sum of money from the profit collected from the movies and other stuff; but that does not mean that character belongs to them it belongs to the company who paid you for your work . Work as hired

This is such senseless case, by this logic a production house can't use their character without permission of artists, then what is use of Studios. If someone spent money for house, labor and engineers can't claims ownership, as they got remuneration for their work.

Steve Ditko were work for hire writer artist at Marvel. Work for hire means they get paid for writing and creating character but Marvel would have those all writing published with ownership of character.
Imagine if you work in Apple,you made a new technology. You get salary at the month end. Would you be called owner or not? Answer is NO. You won't be called owned. Hiring Party, Apple, would be called owner not Hired Party,You.
Laws also says that if hired party was hired by hiring party, then property is owned by hiring party not hired party.

Sony had rights to produce and distribute the movie based upon that intellectual property.

I think , Marvel has just hired writers to create characters for their production house
For eg. In a hypothetical situation , if I hire an engineer to make a machine , and later I am earning a lot of money from using it , that doesn't mean that he can file a lawsuit against me , claiming the rights of the machine to him , because I have just hired him to work for me and I have also paid him his amount .
Now the main work , the main labour behind the machine ( and production and the cost of labour , the promotions and all ) are made by me .
Similarly , as now the characters of the marvel the earning a lot , so people are coming to have a bite from the cake , which they dont deserve because the main gamble was played by the production house .
Now , if the characters were not successful , will the production house again go to the writers to give them the characters and take the money back which were given to them for the characters , defenetely not .
So , according to me , the lawsuit against marvel is invalid .
The writers are just the doctors , but the main pain was taken by the pregnant lady i.e marvel ( just an eg. )
So i think this is a invalid case ! ! ! . . .
