  • Main purpose of this video is to show those interested as to what this exhaust kit sounds like. When I was doing my obsessive research, I watched every video I could find. However, I didn't really seem to find ones with their Honda Shadows moving. I hope this video helps people who are interested in this exhaust kit or just looking to see how an exhaust kit can drastically change your bike (from sound and performance).
    I purchased this kit brand new here as it was the cheapest ($465) I could find (however they've gone back up in price - Checked 8/20/16):
    www.partsgiant....
    This was installed on an 2010 Honda Shadow Phantom 750 - No jet kit, no tuner kit, or no air/fuel adjuster, no power commander is installed. You don't need it (if you touch the intake though, well then that's a different story).
    The good:
    It looks so good, I get compliments all the time
    The sound is deep as the bike finally sounds as it looks
    Installation wasn't too hard
    Exhaust fumes smell better vs stock as it's pretty much straight through giving it the old muscle car smell. I definitely enjoy putting premium in her sometimes just for the enjoyable smell of higher octane.
    The bad:
    This kit is much louder than I expected and I was even warned by others saying so.
    I thought there would be some easier solutions to make it quieter but really the only option is to wrap the baffles which I feel doesn't do too much.
    For this bike and kit there are no quite baffles.
    There are are some out there that can quite it down but make it sound very "tinny"
    Photo of video snapshot was taking by a very talented photographer (please reach out if you're looking for a great photograper):
    www.edwardesmao...
    More detailed review section:
    Finally the bike sounds how it looks! I will say to be warned that this is quite loud so just be prepared. I was really concerned with how loud it would be before I bought this kit as I was looking at as many exhaust kits I could find. There really is no way to tell how loud it really will be from reading reviews and watching videos. Some people have mentioned that they get headaches with ridding over an hour with these on, I have yet to experience this. Also I have a seyna headset and people only say they can hear it if I accelerate hard on the bike.
    That said it's not like it's earth shattering, blowing out your ear drums. I would say if you were to judge from it's looks, you wouldn't think it was as loud as it is. Also there's not much else you can really do besides wrap the baffles (read that it doesn't do much) or buy inserts to damper the sound (this appears to change how the exhaust sounds significantly).
    The exhaust looks amazing and I get compliments all the time. Also I get compliments that it sounds really nice so I think for the most part I'm just paranoid with assuming and worrying people will generally be angry with me. On that note though, only one person I know has told me it's loud. After about a month with it on though I've learn to ride it quite as to keep it in certain RPMs and push the bike away if I need to so that I wake any kids up in the neighborhood.
    The main reason I got this was to be heard while passing people on the highway (which yes worked), to have a little better acceleration (worked), to look better than stock exhaust (deff worked), and for drivers to just generally be aware of my presence in hopes so that they just don't decide to do last min behavior movements that can potentially harm me.
    I would highly recommend it as it looks so unique, people mistake my bike as a Harley, and it really does sound good. If sound level is a concern you can make some changes to your ridding style.
    Check out my buddies bike and exhaust system here for more!:

    Not only loud Troy but they have a beautiful deep growl that the shorts don’t give you. I love the way you got this bike set up. The Mustang seat looks killer and not having a backrest is a cleaner, nicer look to me. I was looking at big cruisers but I always come back to the Phantom. It’s more nimble, big enough, LOW and just looks awesome. I’d add a Memphis Shades Bat Wing on mine.

    I imagine your shadow is fuel injected so as long as you don't change air intake and such and just install the new pipes you don't need to rejet/remap anything etc however my 2007 shadow is carbeurated so a new exhaust would mean id have to adjust the air/fuel ratio (ie remap the system) to get the best performance out of the new pipes? am I seeing it correctly?

    Hi there! May I ask, is that a cobra highway bar? Is it good? I've got a extreme hawk but its design is weird, it's too low so it touches ground before the footpegs. So thinking of getting this cobra bar. It's not too low, right? At least not lower than the footpegs (they touch the ground, not the bar)? Thanks!

    • @DominatorAVP
      @DominatorAVP  Před 3 lety +1

      Yes they are and I love them. The foot pegs on the bike as normal will scrape on hard leans but I've never heard or felt the bars do scrape. Pretty sure the highway bars have a rised angle to not touch the ground on the bottom side. Super comfy with highway pegs too!

    • @DominatorAVP
      @DominatorAVP  Před 5 lety +4

      No, I didn't touch any of that. Exhaust pipes won't change the air/fuel ratio. Only changing the intake, fuel pressure regulator or injectors would do that. Adding an exhaust will decrease the back pressure from stock. So you'll notice you'll lose a little low end torque but gain more high end power. For a few hundred dollars to bolt on an exhaust, I'd say its worth it. Been running this for years now with no issues. I feel a lot safer on the highway ridding up to someones blind spot in situations.

    Have you ever heard Harleys with the same or similar pipes? Is this as loud as them or slighty less loud? I've got a Dyna with V&H pipes and it's kinda loud and now I'm searching for pipes for my girlfriend's Honda Shadow but she doesn't want them quite as loud as on my bike

    • @DominatorAVP
      @DominatorAVP  Před 5 lety

      They would probably be a little loud for her then. They're perfect for me. For being a straight open pipe with baffles they're not as loud as most open pipes are like some Harleys. You can wrap the baffles to make them deeper and a little quite. I didn't really see too many options for shadows. I'd say this would be the quitter options as the others were half pipes.

Also there's so much you can add-on to it for cheap like the pipes I've put on here. • @DominatorAVP
      @DominatorAVP  Před 4 lety +1

      They're honestly not too bad. With the pipes being long, mostly people behind you will notice it being louder than you. I think they're loud enough to be noticed and not too loud to be SUPER annoying. I wear earplugs for long highway rides only mostly due to the wind noise. These pipes are also great for cruising as 40 - 60 mph, just drop in 5th gear if you wanna be quieter. 80 - 90 mph, then ear plugs will help but I still dont think its bad compared to short pipes or some REALLY loud bikes out there.

      @@saidabimelec8506 Seriously you don't think it's better when cars are aware of a motorcycle nearby? When I drive a car and I hear a motorcycle even if I don't see him I know he is close. But when you drive and all of the sudden you see a bike next to you and you hear nothing then it's bad. Someone could have you in the blind spot and change lanes and hit you without knowing you next to him especially when they texting.

      No, theses are after market ones that are higher up and have a wider view. Love them over stock as I feel more comfortable being more alert.
