This comment, so well put. Expanded further to, such a pleasure seeing the subculture of an impassioned genre like drum and bass and jungle manifest itself during it's time. - This video of him playing live, as well as the portfolio tape he filmed in his house in this video's suggested section. Incredible to see. As Daniel mentioned, always coming back to it.
I was trying to remember the name and luckily found, I remember watching this yearsss ago, its such a dope style of drumming and overall sub-genre, very jungly and drum and bass-y, alot of pendulums earlier stuff remind me of this guys style
Back when I first discovered this video (probably ten years ago now) my computer and internet connection could rarely make it though the whole thing without freezing. Amazing stuff. Going to be seeing him play solo in a couple weeks. Can’t wait.
When he removes the cymbal at 3:36 then goes into hitting the bell of the ride is so nasty. Brings me back to this video again and again over the years.
WOW!!!!! Seeing this for the first time and damn by far the most impressive drummer i've ever seen!!! By a f*cking mile!! I've seen dnb drummers before but this guy's timing is spot on! Can barely believe this is real...
Dont worry all you chaps playing this man down! One day you might be lucky to achieve this level of skill! Recognise true ability! This man will shine, wether you will is a different matter! Best to you. P
Word. I also have seen this amazing act a few times. The first time was when KJ opened for Amon Tobin. Later in Amons show KJ collaborated with him and THAT would be something I wish I had on video. It was amazing.
wicked wicked flavour reminds me of the good old Source Direct boys. Sinister sounds man - please dont ever forget this jungle sound. REPRAZENT!!! long live the SAWKAAAAAAA!!!!
The first time I ever saw KJ Sawka perform was at a music festival called the "Phoenix Festival", which, in 2001 and 2002, was out in eastern Washington state, on Merlin's private property. KJ, at the time, was part of a drum'n'bass trio called "Siamese". He was wearing a space helmet, and, of the 12 sound stages all performing that night, I gravitated to that one. *_Special!_*
This guy is gonna teach me how to spin dnb.... I found him on Pandora and searched him on myspace and found out he's from my city (Seattle) KJ SAWKA IS THE SHIT!!! Best dnb in the US!
To be able to play with this kind of precision and technicality... All while changing samples and assembling/disassembling parts of your kit... Unreal.
That is the drum and base I've been searching for, for a long time. Sub base adds to to the most amazingly beautiful rolling, flowing beats I've heard. Hats of to you, Pure Brilliance
Wow hes clearly very dedicated. Those types of artist allways get noticed! There hard work pays off in the end and great things come! Very best to you both XPink
Sawka is the man!!! I've seen him at least 20 times and it never gets old. It's crazy to watch everyone's reaction when he gets on stage. He's touring a lot right now, so if he hits your area you should definitely check him out! Check out this web site (top right) to see if he's comin to your town! If he's not... get someone to book him!!!
it was onlya matter of time before someone cracked the shell. This guy is off the cuff!! Love it mate! He needs to get himself on the UK scene, its goin off! dnbraj speaks real word.. jungledrummer is king.
I know he’ went on to bigger things with pendulum, but for my own sound preference this, that intro vid and the rooftop vids are some of my favorite dirty dnb sounds.
I grew up in the elmo seeing punk bands and having a blast - seeing this guy there tomorrow will make the Elmo THAT much more legendary, in my eyes at least... Really looking forward to it..
10 years later still coming back to this video. DnB & Jungle seems to be the rare "EDM" genre that hasn't crossed into the pop realm yet .
Dude, this video is AMAZING STILL. Mad inspiring when I found it 10 years ago. Still is!
Fuck yes .....legend status now !!
Sapiens Strength It has though, very much so. But I'm glad there's a healthy core in the subculture that keeps the very spirit of dnb alive.
Sapiens Strength thank god pop hasn’t destroyed this yet also
errrm yes it did, but it went underground agian, 95-97 it started getting mershy, then it went underground then came DnB
I don't think I can ever tire of watching this video. I always come back to it a few times a year.
+Daniel Lamorie Same. It's always a pleasure watching a bird fly, or a fish swim, or a KJ Sawka play the drums!

still coming back? I know I am
Played in marching band with Sawka, he's got mad skills.
I've never seen him fake anything except a smile once or twice.
The DJ seems to know his stuff; "this guy brought in a drum kit, he has a sampler, he has a....it's a...ummm...crazy ass setup dude".
14 years later I found it again. 🔥🔥🔥 still BANGER!!! LOVE IT ❤
17 years on and still the best. Nothing else and no else like it. Skills proper skills
Glad to see the views on this are starting to creep up to a million. KJ Sawka is a world class drummer.
Grummsh00 Nearly there 😀
9 years and it still hasn't gotten 1 million views
@@xfys0 Funny how it petered out. He's still out there doing work though.
When he removes the cymbal at 3:36 then goes into hitting the bell of the ride is so nasty. Brings me back to this video again and again over the years.
This guy by himself was far superior to anything Pendulum ever put out.
MOOAAARRR
I remember when this video first came out.
beyond bananas.
I liked this video 15 years ago. And I still like it now. Big up KJ
Now that he's the official drummer for Pendulum. Only gotten better lol

2019 and still number one !!!!!
This is absolutely the best drums I've ever encountered
I watched him play for 10 hours strait on the top of a bus! Battled an entire band on the roof of another bus. The stuff of legend.
I loved this era of DNB. Photek, teebee... Like others i obviously come back to this performance!
14 yrs later, hats off! Whata time capsule for me. Good shiimt, good time.
That's just gorgeous! The man's got such PACE!!! Brilliant...
I honestly don't see how anyone could dislike this lol.
KJ is simply awesome.
Mad respect. From one drummer to another, respect KJ. Ride 'til the wheels fall off, brotha! Big UP!!
Unbelievable...what a badass. I've never seen anyone like him. Really.
Dont worry all you chaps playing this man down! One day you might be lucky to achieve this level of skill! Recognise true ability! This man will shine, wether you will is a different matter! Best to you. P

'nuff said...
This was so unbelievable 07 and still is, thanks for keeping it up. Good times w/people no longer around.
Humans are a gnarly species - take everything to the extreme. Proof is in the clip. Take something amazingly complex and shape it into art. Praise.
Has to be the best video I've come across on CZcams, this guy has inspired me to buy a drum kit and burn out my arms trying to play this stuff!
Word. I also have seen this amazing act a few times. The first time was when KJ opened for Amon Tobin. Later in Amons show KJ collaborated with him and THAT would be something I wish I had on video. It was amazing.
Still bangin' in 2020!!
