awesome work thanks for the footage. the sweet sound of hard work , tools clanking and minimal talking.
When working at Grumman my favorite job on the F-14 engines was installing large conical 'FOD' screens before the first engine run up. Before installation started we inspected the inlets, and the first 3 sets of compressor blades. Then got an inspector to 'sign it off'.
Is it a good career after service?
One thing for sure, NO BLOODY ROBOTS will ever replace these guy's
"Ever" is a very strong word....at some point people thought no one would "ever" go above the clouds.....robots, like all tech, get better year after year in terms of computational power, hardware and software....Maybe not older engines....but there will be newer engines designed specifically to be manufactured, taken apart and maintained by highly advanced A.I (Artificial Intelligence) guided robots decades to hundreds of years from now.......Most current jobs will be obsolete by then.
@@kninezbanks
mankind is obsolete by than
Robots already have.
In fact, a "robot" as you call it is the only thing keeping this aircraft in the air.
F-16 Jet Engine Shop - Foreign Object Damage Repair
+AiirSource Military Cigarette butts on the runway? that's the usual culprit...
On way to meps next mouth signing up to do this
Is this a depot repair?
Keep up the good work
Looks like fun. I'd love this job.
Great work I love it thank..
good work
great video 👍
What an amazing machine, so much eye candy!
0:12 Vector-controlled nozzle?
Jesus they look 15 years old
After watching the “F-16 Tree Strike Confession” video on YT I wonder what the engine of that F-16 looked like after the tree strike.
I wish to become a jet engine mechanic
Designed by PH.Ds, flown by college graduates, maintained by high school graduates. So it is with every weapons system.
Whts wrong with that?
actually you copied the phrase wrong - it's designed by PHDs, built guys with masters, flown by guys with bachelors and maintained by high school grads.
Was the FOD on runway or in flight? I know I want get the answer, but I’m curious
This is place make me feel good
Great work . I need f16 parts FOB deal
When I grow up I'm going to be a great Soldier
The question is, this would fit in my Honda?
Honda compatible F-16 jet engine brackets. Try ebay for that. Good luck.
Well it would need a roof rack for mounting but then you’d be good to go
why do they have chromed tools in a gas turbine shop?
USN GSM
Bill Russell why does it matter? maybe they get them from a major tool supplier like matco or snap on
@@eriktruchinskas3747 did this for,hmm 10 years...tools were always snapon
I just got this job in Navy
I worked at Grumman on F-14 engines. When us in 'the engine shop' showed up to hang/pull,throttles, etc an engine we were top dogs! Thank you for your service sir.
I do chrome and nickle plating on f100 engine parts
This seems like a pretty cool job to have as a soldier.
stereopolice those are airmen, not soldiers...
Soldiers? These are fucking engineers lmao do you really think they will let a regular soldier pick up tools and start cranking away on a half a million if not more piece of equipment? Fucking idiot.
@@deathtoy101 i mean they let high school graduates do this job so yeah sure
@@deathtoy101 wish I saw this sooner. Engineer's? Haha. This job isn't hard to get. I've run into a lot of retards doing this. Engine troops or Props is what people that are in this AFSC call themselves.
@@deathtoy101 😂
Gd job 😘
Anyone find my screwdriver?? Lol
You *better not* have your name on it!
Wow
FOD BAD!!!
This sounds like an asmr video
Where is the damage? I don't see any components shown that had damage.
Which is why you aren't a jet engine mechanic.
please give me rapport F O D
I thought this level of maintenance would have been outsourced to a contractor.
Probably a rock, screw, nut, etc that did the damage. Cigarette butt is pushing it. Was avionics tech in the AF and got bored one day, help change an engine out on the tarmac.

how a hp ?
Not using metric wrenches? What an old bird
MS21250 the current standard for 12 point fasteners is in English or Imperial measure. Not sure any aerospace specialty systems use metric, probably, just don't know. It can prevent sub standard auto fasteners from being used, but not hardware store bits.
I never saw a metric wrench ever in the snap-on gangbox. All tools were standard and all hardware as well. That was being a mechanic on HH-60 pavehawk, UH-60 Blackhawk, AH-64 apache longbow, n-model huey and OH-58 kiowa.
While interesting you guys should watch this old film concerning the F-105's J-76 engine (czcams.com/video/Zbm-dzgboJQ/video.html).
No QA creeping around the corner...
本当に技術能力の高い人がこのショップでは必要と見られるので白人ばかりを採用していると見受けられる。有色人種には高度な技術を教えてなるものかみたいな感じで。
this Is us
I had thought about becoming a USMC avionics mechanic.
+rodney scott well did you become one ?
Why go thru all that crazy boot camp training to become a USMC avionics mechanic when you can join the Airforce or the Navy and become an avionics mechanic and not go thru that crazy training that the USMC goes thru I would think an avionics mechanic in the Navy or Airforce is where you wanna be that's all they do is fly crazy jets so I would think one would become a better avionics mechanic in the navy or airforce
it's always the blades
yeah no shit
Click bait, nothing of foreign object damage repair was shown.
Agreed. Looked more like reattching a front fan. Only at the very end are they inspecting the hot section.
All Nazi German technology BMW 003 and Jumo 004
that's stupid. there's nothing nazi about axial flow.
First time I ever seen them off their chairs...
