  • Come and have a look at the tulips in our cottage garden. Most of them are in flower at the moment, with just a few of the double petal varieties to follow. We will also show you the polytunnel and greenhouse so you can see how we are getting on with growing vegetables this year. Hope you enjoy!

I love the entire retro scene here. Old cottage garden, no plastic in sight anywhere, vintage style dresses, all so easy to look at, idyllic, nostalgic. A sense of beautiful permanence and continuity. Thank you for sharing!

So pleased that the ducks are again allowed out to play! The tulips coupled with the gorgeous stainless daffodils really set each other off. Forget me knots always reminds me of the Laura Ashley of the 1980’s!

The tulips look really good now that they have lightened up in colour also the pink and red ones look quite similar when they are aged.. also its nice that you've broken up the colour with the white and cream flowers u could add some wallflowers to blend in beneath the tulips and make them softer
The flower seeds are all so exciting I'm surprised uve managed to keep them in the small pots since last spring that's a really long time I thought they would outgrow them
    Lovely garden thanks for sharing😊

4:57 "Such a nice time of year." Yes, springtime, it equates to physical youth when all is fresh and bright and new. Full of exuberance, and optimism, an everything is easy, effortless, before the "battle of the bugs" and "battle of the weeds" begins in summertime.

You could plant Spanish blue bells with an under the ground restriction ...so they won t spread to hard. I think Lily of the valley, discentra spectabilis, Aquilegia would look stunning in your area. In the meadow ..cammomile, poppies ...would look great

99% loveliness, The 1% that I would do differently is eliminate straight lines like right here> 4:55 . My love is Art Nouveau, in which all straight lines are eliminated, also the old Gertrude Jekyll style cottage garden in which nearly all straight lines are eliminated. I love masses of flowers in which one mass gradually transitions into the other mass.
I don't want to be critical because I know and live the lifestyle in which the income producing job, plus other demands on one's time finds us during the very short planting days of autumn needing to stick those bulbs into the soil as quickly as possible and straight lines are faster to plant than informal masses. My vegetable garden is an exception to my elimination of straight lines. If I do not use straight lines in the vegetable garden, then I won't know what I planted where which is critical in case of seeds failing to sprout and knowing exactly where they are at greatly speeds up knowing where to uncover several seeds to see what is happenening which facilitates replanting ASAP befor the growing season is gone. I do space my rows as closely as the plants needs allow, the result of which is that all lines disappear by the time that vegetable plants mature all rows grow shut leaving me with a French intensive look, which I adore. I use no rotary tiller in my vegetable garden, only hand tools and thick black, woven weed barrier which reduces tomato rot by around 80 to 90%. Sorry to ramble on, part of the process of seeking perfection.

Thank you for sharing! Love the bluebells: have you thought of planting English bluebells in the area where Spanish bluebells are? And poppies are always lovely: have you ever considered the Tibetan blue poppy Meconopsis? They are a bit of a challenge but are gorgeous! Your efforts with your garden is outstanding!

Beautiful as always, I so look forward to your updates. Please think about removing the Spanish and adding an English bluebell as your theme is delicate meadow and within 5 years mine got covered in thick bluebells which took all my delicate fritillaries so have a think. You won’t regret it I promise. 🤍

I don't agree with no mow May at all! Your creating safe spaces for pollinators and other insects and then come June your wiping them all out! It's like a death sentence for them. I think it's much better to do what I do and dedicate a space that you leave completely wild all year round even if it's just the smallest patch. 🤍
