I like how while Scream conveys the plight of the Keywards, Silent Scream does the same thing for Proto-Carbuncle (and presumably other experiments) without vocals but stronger instrumentation. . The beasts can't speak, but you can hear and feel their pain nonetheless. They were victims of Hephaistos just like the Keywards were.

My opinion is probably unpopular among fans but when it comes to boss fights I prefer just music to lyrical.
So I prefer this one over that song version.

Really like the way this fight incorporates the aspects of Carbuncle that the majority of the Final Fantasy fanbase know it for, that being its ability to create Reflect barriers to bounce magic back. Made for some really interesting mechanic dodging. Got to admit, the poison is a new touch I wasn't expecting either
The funny thing is that the FFIV(?) fight with the monster-carbuncle (which is where you get the summon version) happens over a pool of poison/acid that you need to walk through to get to the chest to trigger the fight. So it makes sense.
@@JulianSkies Could also be nodding at Arcanists being poison mages... or at least they were, at some point.
The reasoning is that in ancient Judaic belief, carbuncles (the gem stone, garnets) had protective powers against poisoning. The creature 'Carbunclo' is from south american belief of a magic animal that produced carbuncles as a treasure.
Summoners may have lost Bio, but that Carbucle still has SMN's dots
I believe it absorbs that poison power from the slime it eats after breaking out, since poison isn't used before that event.
Don't know too much about carbuncles, but attuning to an element like that doesn't seem too far off.
Almost every time I do this fight, that guitar riff kicks in during the phase change and it's glorious.

It's intentionally synced up like that, they do it with all the boss fights.
@@DeepbloodFang most of them are, yes. This one isn't. If you skip the cutscene or have horrible dps it doesn't sync up right. That's why I said "almost every time"

I was dreading this tier because if it meant listening to another 3 floors of Ancient Shackles then I might have just quit the static lol. I associate that song with P3S now and I'm so tired of it. I'm so happy we're getting Scream/Silent Scream in its place.

It reminds me of the chanting part of Mining Melancholy. Has the same vibe of workers/prisoners humming a melancholic chant. Definitely my favorite part as well.
For me it's the playful little harpsichord trilling around 4:45. It's so smug right before they hit you with the drop again.

My favorite theme from Abyssos. I really like Scream too but this one without the vocals I like more.
Love that since it has no lyrics this one is "Silent Scream" meanwhile the one from 6 and 7 is just "Scream"

This raid music has my inner SMN shouting "Persona!". While my MCH is pulling their Persona 3 with shooting themselves in the head due to their drop in damage in this patch.
Now you mention it, I noticed DRK quests are like Persona 4 where you fight yourself, then come to an acceptance with your own inner turmoils.

I got grabbed on my first run of this boss (and several subsequent runs, lol). I have to say, I loved the mechanic of being thrown around like a chew toy, 1HKO as it was. Hope they do more with it.

2:40 gives me OG Hellsing vibes with the instruments. Those who saw the original anime (not Hellsing Ultimate, the OG one that the author actually said he didn't like) would know that the soundtrack was far more enjoyable compared to most of the anime

The Final Days were inevitable. Even if Meteion was stopped from bringing the world unsundered to ruin, one of the Ancients' many other anguished creations would have eventually done the job, one way or another.
Pandæmonium was basically their SCP Foundation, only a matter of time before a world-ending containment breach.
I like that one of the Ancients’ schtick was very controlled mad science that they did not regard as mad science because they just could will things in and out of existence by using aether control, and then Hermes made the SCP that is Meteion.

I love me how at certain points during the song like at 3:17 and other parts of the song it sounds like many voices humming together. Another comment that I can't get off my mind says "Scream conveys the plight of the keywards, Silent Scream does the same for the experiments without vocals.... the beast who can't speak, but you feel their pain nonetheless."
The joined chorus of those who can't speak yet they still sing of their suffering to us. Reminds me of the book title "I have no mouth, and I must scream." I haven't gotten around to reading it yet but I know vaguely of it so idk how closely they're supposed to reference each other.
