Following the Tour de France & camping in our Toyota Corolla

At the beginning of our 2021 Europe road trip we finally had the chance to follow the Tour de France. It was something we'd often talked about doing one day back home in New Zealand.
With the covid situation we weren't sure if it would be possible, but with the pandemic you just never knew what was going to happen. Suddenly, the stars (aka travel restrictions, case levels, and vaccinations) aligned and we realised we could go.
We'd only been in France a few days after leaving the UK, then it was straight into the action. Here we followed three stages of the 2021 Tour de France: stage 7 in the village of Uchon, stage 8 in the mountains on the Col de la Columbiere by the village Le Grand-Bornand, and stage 9 in the hills of Les Saisies.
We watched the craziness of the Tour de France caravan (parade), camped in our Toyota Corolla with its custom bed set up, and hiked in the French Alps.
It was an amazing experience. If you're thinking about it following it, just do it!
