    I am sure many underestimate how much the railways helped out with the war effort.

      Quite a few US built locomotives were transported to the UK to increase the locomotive fleet in the UK. The most notable ones were the Baldwin made USATC S160 and the Vulcan works made USATC S100 tank engine.

      @@bentullett6068 there was a video about that. Apparently some of them lasted 50 years past their planned obsolescence.
      Just shows you the power that trains can withhold if built for and expanded for.

      @TheStickCollector two S160 's still exist in the UK and I think one S100 still exists.
