there was a lot of money involved. getting a polo horse at 14, attending prestigious schools, meeting well educated people all over Europe for years: he is the product of careful grooming.
@@embreis2257so what? Money doesnât buy talent, a passion for horses and their welfare, or the drive to work harder to improve himself and his horses. Some people who have more money than I could dream of have horses, and they are terrible riders who donât care about their animals. There are also people who grew up dirt poor and had to take every odd job the could to be able to even afford lessons, who worked their way up from being working students to catch riding, and made a name for themselves through hard work and determination.

@@margauxnodvin7478 Well said! In my 70 yrs, I've seen exactly what you said....MANY times. Money can make you, or it can break you, but it can't make you smarter, can't give you manners, can't give you a work ethic, and can't give you compassion for animals. I can't even really say these traits are taught by parents, although sometimes. Rather, it's in the person's soul and heart from the beginning.
Of all the stable tours youâve done this is by far my favourite. Unlike the more ostentatious stables, this seems to really put the horseâs welfare first, the stalls are light and roomy and great to hear that theyâre turned out so much.

This barn has such a speacial calm and liberating vibe. Tim really seems like a genuine, kind person with a big heart for the wellbeing of the horses as well as the sport. Really awesome video :)

Timmy Dutta started playing polo at 13 years old. Timmy grew up in a sports horse family, so it was natural for him to start riding at a very young age. His mother, Susie Dutta, is an international Grand Prix dressage rider, and his father, Tim Dutta, grew up playing polo in India. His father also owns and runs Dutta Corporation, a well-respected international transport company that flies horses around the world.
does it mean the family can foot all the expenses on their own? or is there a sponsor for him? who pays for all the upkeep the team of polo players need for their many horses? the club, a wealthy sponsor who wants the club to win some international polo trophies?

Iâm not sure where the WOW comes from. Itâs not a surprise that heâs well-spoken. After all, he plays polo with 11 different horses in a single match and knows all about horse breeds, so Iâm pretty sure he is well-educated and comes from an affluent family.

if you invest millions of dollars in education and training of a kid, give them horses at a young age and travel to all the important venues around the world meeting all the important people then after all this careful upbringing is what we just watched really such a surprise?
I got a little insight into Polo when I co-rode a retired polo pony (Polo argentino, came to Europe as a 6 year old). What a crazy sport! But horses are relaxed before the game, go like hell during the few minutes they play and are totally relaxed afterwards again. After the game, they graze together in their herds right next to the polo fields around the transporters or walk around totally free in the surroundings of the polo field. They are horses that like their "work" and still can be horses even though they're athletes. I think that's why they're so relaxed. "My" polo pony is the most chilled horse I ever met. Whatever would happen next to her, she wouldn't care. She is used to every kind of busy, noisy environments. At her 24 years, she still would love to play (we sometimes did a little stick&ball), the very calm pony started to bloom as soon as she saw a ball đ„° She was officially retired at 19, but the owner did some easy polo games for fun until she was 22. Unluckily, they moved away 6 months ago. I still miss her a lot.

I was heavily involved in track life (early 2000s-2012) then moved south to FL and got involved in the Polo (more so breeding end) world. I got sick in 2019 (required brain surgery) and can no longer ride. This was such an awesome video. It brought me back, so thank you for branching out and posting! I'm send God's blessings to you both for your circumstances as Im too old now to take on anymore rescue horses in my life. The last boy passed 3yrs ago and I miss horses so much, so I thoroughly enjoy Matt and Jesse from their fun videos to these educational videos.

Oh would I ever love to have a barn like this. Floridaâs weather is so humid and warm most of the year.
Vast grounds, large buildings and facilities for maintaining the horses and storing equipment. Some plots seem to be reserved for horses, which is very good. The stable is perfect but there's no ostentatious luxury and I prefer it, it's more 'lively', more dynamic.
Timmy Dutta is a very young polo player who has demonstrated his abilities and already won many trophies. He is ambitious (in a good way) and there is no doubt about his determination to achieve his goals. I wish him the best!

"natural riding" is a very odd phrase to use! What on earth does that mean đ Do you just mean "less gear"?
Agreed. Poor horses. The most luxurious stables don't hide the fact that these disciplines are unnatural and borderline cruel.

@@rebeccathaler6365 I agree, but we do unnatural things by choice. Horses don't have a choice. I've never seen a horse in pasture choose ( without any encouragement) to jump a bunch of obstacles repeatedly just for the fun of it, or choose to enter ( unmounted and unaccompanied) a 20 x 60 m arena and then choose to work in endless circles, collected, for 45 minutes just for a good time.
@@lizbeth8946 Honestly if my horse doesn't want to do something there's no way of getting him to do it. When he has a day like that I usually just brush him over because he really enjoys it and just in general spend time with him. Then again, I'm not in the actual sport of horse riding and just do some trail rides đ

Matt, it was a good interview, however I was frustrated by the camera work. When he went to show his best mare the camera didn't film her, we saw her back end and that was it.
The passion comes through Timmy's body language and his spoken words! So many people act like polo is animal cruelty, and at some level that may be true; a classy player always puts the horse first.
Wow...that was very interesting. I was happy to see how comfortable the young man became as he talked about his horses and the game. I had NO idea how big the field was or how many horses a player might have in the game,

I adore that this farm (and hopefully all Polo farms) actually turns their horses out...definitely don't see decent turnout in the Dressage or Hunter/Jumper farms down in Wellington (1 hr in a paddock smaller than my apartment daily is NOT decent turnout no matter how you spin it...).

So excellent, Matt. What a well spoken young man. I am hoping that we get to see the horseâs conformation more closely. The tack would also be interesting as would how the horses are tacked up since it is so specific to the sport.
Yes. The barn's appearance is the least interesting thing about the video, although the fact that all this is just to support the hobby of 1 unbelievably spoiled guy who is only about 18 is notable too, but not for the right reasons. I too want to know more about the tack, the training regimen, and the wellness program of the horses. I'm not a bit interested in the architecture or luxury aspects, and I find the Conspicuous Consumption to be sickening.

The best ones actually follow the ball and ride off other ponies thats why mainly mares are used. There's more abuse in show jumping than I've ever seen in polo

I will admit as interested as I've always been in Polo as a sport, I've also always had a bit of a negative view of it because I've heard a lot of bad things about the riders and their treatment of the horses. But this inside look (at least with this one stable) was very insightful and enjoyable. Timmy seems like a really nice guy and the horses there are obviously very well cared for. :)
More "Dark Sides" of the horse world needs to be shown to the public. We only get to see the "Good Sides". Just saying.
@@donnapalmeri9573 oh for sure, there's too much abuse that goes on in all corners of equestrianism, sadly. i'm not saying this interview has me believing that there are no bad riders or abuse in polo, just that at least as far as this guy and his stable go, they seem to take good care of their horses, and Timmy seems to really love and value his. for me, i've only seen the negative side when it comes to this sport, so it's nice to see a positive one, in this case, the positive side is rarer. i think we need more of both the exposing of the abuse that goes on, as well as showcasing the good examples and how things _should_ be done when it comes to equestrian disciplines.
This is a very cool and interesting video! I just got into Polo and am loving seeing the care that goes into the horses and how itâs different than the old standard. Love this facility and his philosophy.

It's awfully easy to be impressive when you are that rich! He has a huge number of staff taking care of his horses. Imagine how many staff he has to take care of him! It's as gross as can be!

We all know that his wealth is not really his, heâs too young to have earned all of the luxuries he enjoys at his fingertips which is not his fault, he was just lucky to have been born into it. Thankfully he enjoys a hobby that provides work for a whole lot of people.

Hey Matt! I love that you are showing us other disciplines and even trying them yourself! There is only 1 polo league here in CA that I have been around, and sadly they treat their horses like equipment. One dropped from a heart attack on the aisle one time after they ran him for a long time on a 100+ degree day, and the just stepped over him and continued their work... It was awful! They even ride intoxicated. It's horrible!! So this was the much needed view I had to see so I understand this is not typical. Thank you!!

Excellent video, thanks so much, that young man appears to be extremely mature. He is very well spoken and is an excellent ambassador for his sport! His parents have "done him well" as we say in the South! Would love more interviews like this in different equine disciplines.
The question is what happens when the horses can no longer be of use on the polo field?
I'm sure the same as other equestrian sports--they probably keep their favorites for the rest of the horse's life, but most are likely sold to people who don't need the horse for high-level sport
This makes one horse hobby look inexpensive.
What? You donât have a 28-stall barn? How do you manage? đ No, seriously. Between stabling fees, vet, hay and supplements, AND gasoline (one of my biggest expenses), it all adds up so fast. If youâre lucky enough to be able to keep your animals where you live, you can push a lot of those costs down significantly. Not my current situation, unfortunately.

This was a great video. It appears that Timmy and his mother treat their horses to the highest extent similar to Matt and Jesse with their horses and I hope to see him more regularly on this channel. One note is that polo is one of the most dangerous sports and for reason. If anything Timmy is very open minded as he surely is aware of the relationship between Matt and Jesse. Any future recommendations is to see Jesse with Matt during such a tour and interview.
Love watching Polo matches! Back n 1987 - yes im old! I watched a polo match n Glendale CA near LA Sylvester Stallone aka Rocky and his gf sat a few seats in front of me- he owned a bunch back then. I always wanted to give it a try but never did. You do have to have $$$ to play that sport.
Not much into polo but I am fascinated by the use of cloning to produce top polo ponies.

Probably for the purpose of tours? Particularly the 2nd horse that Matt met apparently bites and kicks. So if there's someone touring the barn, which im sure the owners do alot of tours, i guess its a safety thing for both the horses and visitors. I dont think they stay tied up everytime they're in their stalls. Hopefully they dont.
