1 When your son goes and plays for 12 years in the NFL, it's fair to start being concerned. I put that at, I don't know, 1 in 37 million?
2 It's safe to say car accidents, overdoses, drownings, and even suicide are much more likely to be concerned about for your children.
3. 700,000 people commit suicide each year. Are those who played football going to be a % of that? Of course. Does it mean it was because of head trauma?
It's just funny how when a household name football player falls, we automatically test for CTE. But when Joe the plumber falls, he was just depressed and behind on house payments.
Not saying head injuries don't exist, because they certainly do. But NFL football players have a longer lifespan than the average American.
I'm a football lifer - played for 17 years and coached for 25 more. I have yet to play with or coach a young man - and we're talking thousands of souls - who lost his life to CTE.
Most just have a bleeding heart 😀
