For some reason I never forgot my English lesson on words like Kleenex, Chapstick, Vaseline, etc. They’re also known as metonyms. I found it so fascinating. As someone who has worked in marketing and communications, this video was spot on. This series is very impressive!👏🏾
Oh that's awesome. Thanks for sharing (and validating). :) Appreciate the kind words
The one that hit home for me was "chapstick"- I'm a lip balm maker for the most part and I'm endlessly explaining why "chapstick" can't be on my label or website. 😅
I always love watching your videos because they’re so informative, but I’m REALLY LOVING this mini series. You’re still explaining things really well but in an easy to watch time
I love the new video editing, super professional! And the content of course!
Thanks Alyssa. It's just sporadic at the moment. Either very time consuming or expensive. Lol
We humans are so easy brainwashed, lol another great video Wade. Yankee Candle was the first candle brand I came across in my youth. Still, I enjoyed going to Vermont and buying hancrafted candles directly from their small artisan shops. They used to have theses little shows on the weekends where we could see them dip or carve designs on those colorful taper candles that looked like Christmas candy. That's where my love of candle craftting started and there's no greater joy for me than making my own candles. I hope to sell my own branded hancrafted candles some day. Your channel is slowly but surely helping me accomplish that dream. Thank you Wade, for sharing your waxy knowledge with us ✌️😎👍
Thanks so much. I appreciate that (and some of you history). :)
🤯🤯🤯....... Never looked at making purchases like that....."never been to the same garage sale twice" ...... I'm speechless lol.
🤣😁
Love your information on all things needed to candle making and business
My motto: Quality product + BRANDING = growth! Great video!
💯 thanks les
You are so right "BRANDING" is very important.
❤️
I've been binge watching your videos and they've all been so helpful to me thankyou
Absolutely love this series. As a beginner, I was starting to feel overwhelmed but this video was clear and concise in the presentation of the essential points. Thank you. I didn't know Bubblegum was a brand name. In my region, Clorox is synonymous with bleach.
Thank you Wade!
👍
I needed to hear this. It helped put everything in perspective and a plan. Thank you for this entire series. :)
❤️ no problem
Hello Wade Thomas
I always thought of your examples s just products and not brands. I have been following you for some time. And I am always left motivated and focus after one of your tutorials. I have burned myself out trying to find my branding. I have burned myself out trying to decided on my finished products. With the help of this tutorial, I know that I must get on the ball. Thank you for sharing all of your knowledge so freely.
No problem. Thanks for being here Tamara!
Thanks so much !! i dont miss any of your videos !! so every day in my lunch break at the hospital I ate my lunch learning from you . I try to expand my promotions on the media but now with Loyalty points helps my members to win some points and turn them into rewards points. Most of my customers are friends and family. I can't wait to see my brand grow. Im looking forward to show my products to a local store here close to Asheville. I want to feel ready!
That's awesome. You will get there. :)
I think kleenex hit me... when I ask my husband to pick up tissues... I don't say tissues I say Kleenex! So, yeah... branding sticks in the brain! As always wonderful advice! I'll be sharing these once all 5 are up!!! Thanks so much for all you share Wade!!!
Wade your opener and end card both look SO GOOD. Thank you for this chanel ❤️ I love the effort you put into this
❤️👍
This was really good. It's something I've already been working at. Now I'm just trying to put it all together. Thank you for the video.
No problem!
I just love it❤
❤️
Band aid surprised me.
Great video, thanks 🔥
Company name was the hardest for me 😔 but now I'm settled and ready for first market stand. It's amazing how much more relaxed you can be once that headache is gone. Thanks for great insight
Absolutely! It's like a huge weight of your shoulders once you choose something
More mini series please, everything you said, and this video spot on which is why I hired a professional.
Thanks Kim! :)
Dia #4 🎉🎉
😁
Thanks again thanks ❤
👍👍
Bubblegum is a brand?! Wow, never would have guessed that one. I knew that Duck Tape was a brand but got me thinking about 'duct tape' so I Wikipedia'd it to see if it evolved through a mispronunciation. Interesting tidbits there.
Yes... duck tape and duct tape are different, but many people use them interchangeably. Lol
Also branding from your same products should be similar imo. To go from angelic line to slumdog dunkers would be... surprising.
👍👍
Hey Wade,...Another great video, thank you. I decided on a business name at first which would of been perfect, but it never had a meaning to me, so I changed it and even though the name doesn't really have any relevance to candles, it has a meaning to me. The only thing is, because of that, I'm thinking it's going to take a long time to get my business out there. But then I guess its the same with any new business.
Yes. Name didn't generating customers. Most names have nothing to do with the company or product. Marketing is what makes people remember the name.
@@BlackTieBarn Thanks Wade.
I have to say the brand I was the most impressed with in so many years that I've seen is 3M. Ya I know, that's weird but they've had some pretty neat stuff and they are quite innovative, which to me means they have always been researching, developing and growing!! 😉
100%
Spot on. I just launched a brand awareness campaign with a marketing agency. Lots to learn and lots of work but all worth it. If you have time and patience.
💯
I "sort of" disagree (a little) with this approach. As a consumer and avid candle purchaser, if I came across a candle business that only had 3 products on their website I cannot be certain I'd be interested enough to buy something, especially if none of them were fragrances I liked. Maybe that's just me, but I do agree with the brand building suggestion. Always good stuff. Thanks Wade!
Thanks Dave. That advice is for candle makers who have no brand. I just not sure continuing to make a bunch of candles without much of a brand makes much sense to me. It wasn't so much about trying to run s business with 3 candles as it was to recommend focusing on branding early on. But yes.... I launched with 8 I think myself
@@BlackTieBarn Makes sense 😄
Smart
❤️
hey wade cn you put fragrance oil directly on your wax warmer?
Mucho amor para Ti 🫡
❤️
I am really loving this series, if that is the correct way to describe it. Too bad it is only 5 days worth lol
Anyway, I was surprised by Taser, I did not know that was the brand lol
Haha me either! And thank you. Everyone watching them definitely seems to be enjoying them. Now if only youtube will start pushing them out. Iv think I confused then with a week's worth of shorter videos and they don't know what to with them. They have pushed to my subscribers about 80% less than normal. :/
@@BlackTieBarn that's unfortunate they are not being properly pushed. Maybe you can start adding these kinds of tips to the end of your regular videos. Not sure how that will work, but just a suggestion. Either way, I am loving it a lot. Thanks so much for your willingness to share your knowledge.
Hey me the fist one to see it.
Frisbee is the absolute worse with this. I work in retail transitioning to candles.
I have yet for a single person asking for a "flying disc"
Ha ha. Exactly. 🤣
Duct tape.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duct_tape
Yah I know duct tape is different.... but people use the brand name "Duck tape" as the same thing which it isn't. Lol
